What happens when a fallen angel named Harry and a banished demon named Judy pick up a bunch of guns and start shooting their way through hell and heaven to bring down the famed Four Horsemen before they can finally trigger the Apocalypse?

The answer is a RunAndGun game named ''God's Trigger'', created by One More Level and published by Techland. Story-wise, it is the anti-''VideoGame/{{Darksiders}}''; gameplay-wise, it plays just like ''VideoGame/HotlineMiami'', if it had co-op and gave its characters supernatural abilities. It was released on April 18th, 2019 on [[Platform/IBMPersonalComputer PC]], Platform/PlayStation4 and Platform/XboxOne.

!! Tropes present in God's Trigger:
* BadassBiker: Death has swapped out his horse for a motorcycle.
* BadassLongcoat: Harry wears a white trench coat.
* BadGuyBar: The level after the tutorial takes place in one. In addition, the first two levels of Death's chapter have you roughing up biker bars.
* TheBladeAlwaysLandsPointyEndIn: Thrown melee weapons don't spin, so throwing knives and swords always hits the target blade-first.
* BlandNameProduct: The collectible pages belong to [[{{Magazine/Playboy}} Helljoy]] magazine.
* BodyDouble: In addition to his magical dopplegangers Pestilence has a few regular human body doubles in one mission, just to make things more complicated.
* BullfightBoss:
** Famine can only be damaged by making her charge into her firepits and activating them.
** In the second stage of her fight, War's mechsuit is only vulnerable when she smashes it into a wall.
* ChainPain: Judy fights in melee with a chain tipped with a harpoon.
* {{Combos}}: Killing enemies in an unbroken sequence extends your [=XP=] multiplier.
* CoolShades: Judy always wears these.
* CreepyCathedral: Famine's started a cult in one and her chapter has you fighting your way through and under it.
* DodgeTheBullet: Certain mooks can dodge bullets and thrown objects under specific circumstances.
* TheDoorSlamsYou: You can do this to knock down nearby enemies, thus opening them up for an execution.
** Harry can dash into doors and smash them entirely off their hinges, knocking down whoever they smash into. One of his later skills makes the detached doors then ''explode''.
* DopplegangerAttack: Pestilence's boss battle has him make clones of himself. You have to kill them all to do any damage to him but any of their bullets will hurt you just as bad.
* DoppelgangerSpin: Judy can create phantom clones of herself that'll distract enemies.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: War's chapter takes place in a military base complete with nuclear missile silo.
* TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt: The Four Horsemen are trying to start the apocalypse early. Harry and Judy are trying to stop that from happening.
** [[spoiler:And once they deal with the Horsemen they find out that Archangel Gabriel plans to use the energy of the defeated Horsemen to take over Heaven and Earth himself.]]
* EnemyMine: Nominally between Harry and Judy, but neither actually seem interested in seeing each other as enemies. The only time this is touched on is Harry remarking that he never expected to team up with a demon.
** [[spoiler:Played ''much'' more straight during the last chapter where you discover that Gabriel was counting on Harry killing the Horsemen so he could absorb their power. Harry and Judy team up with the Horsemen to defeat Gabriel and all four of them use their abilities to help out during the next few levels.]]
* EyeForAnEye: [[spoiler:Gabriel]] ripped Harry's wings off before the start of the game. [[spoiler:The first two stages of his boss fight have you do the same to him.]]
* EvilVersusOblivion: It's unclear exactly how evil Judy actually is, but her stated reason for wanting to save the world is because she likes Earth and ''really'' doesn't want to go back to Hell.
* {{Fanservice}}: The collectible magazine pages are from a Playboy knock-off, complete with photos of scantily-clad women. Besides the models wearing something pertaining to the setting of the chapter and the headlines referencing the events of the game, the connection to the plot is non-existent and they only really exist for fan-service.
** War wears an odd leotard with a low neckline and exposed arms and thighs. Her mechsuit also leaves her torso exposed.
* FantasticDrug: Death's plan to destroy the world is based around producing a highly addictive drug that also gives people murderous urges.
* FinishingMove: You get to perform these on downed enemies.
* FusionDance: [[spoiler:Harry and Judy do this to stand up to Archangel Gabriel in the final stage of the last boss fight. The combination looks like a much more masculine Judy wielding a fiery version of Harry's sword.]]
* GameplayGrading: You get a rating at the end of each level.
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler:Archangel Gabriel.]] Harry already knows he's an enemy; he's the one who tore his wings off and threw him to Earth. What he doesn't know is that [[spoiler:Gabriel engineered the entire central conflict to further his goals.]]
* HeavilyArmoredMook: Larger enemies take two hits to kill outright. They'll still die in one, but they'll stay alive for a few seconds before bleeding out, during which they can still kill you.
** The second half of the game introduces enemies with shields who can take a few hits to the front before taking any damage. They'll die just as easily when struck from behind, however.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Harry is an angel, and so his weapon is a sword, in contrast to the chain used by the demoness Judy.
* HowWeGotHere: The tutorial level takes place in the final chapter of the game. When you get there in the actual story Harry and Judy decide to skip that part since you already know what happens.
* InexplicableTreasureChests: Hidden throughout the game. They can contain perks, special weapons, or experience.
* {{Invisibility}}: Harry's first power is to turn himself invisible for a while.
* JediMindTrick: One of Judy's powers is to briefly take over the mind of the enemy.
* LazyAlias: Pestilence has become a movie star under the pseudonym of Lance Pesting.
* LifeDrain: After losing a sufficient amount of health, Famine will demand to be healed. One or more of her cultists will run in and she'll eat them to regain health. The only only way to do permanent damage is to kill them before they get to her.
* LightningBruiser: Depending on how you allot your skill points, either character can become this. Harry's particularly open to it, however, with his dash and melee attack being faster than Judy's in general.
* MookMedic: There are priests who'll resurrect fallen enemies.
* MushroomSamba: Despite Death being a cartel boss, it's Pestilence who gives you hallucinations. Harry sees his wings and tries to get them back while Judy sees hellfire and thinks the other demons have found her.
* AMythologyIsTrue: A ''very'' loose approximation of Christianity. There are the Four Horsemen and Archangel Gabriel, and Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell exist, but anything more specific than that is never touched on. Even Harry, a ''literal angel'', doesn't seem to know for sure if God exists.
* OneHitpointWonder: Both of your characters die in one hit, though the same applies to most of the enemies.
* OptionalStealth: You can sneak up on the enemies and instantly kill them from behind, and can clear out much of the level in this manner. However, you'll be missing out on a lot of potential [=XP=] this way, as the time spent to sneak up on your next victim will annul the [=XP=] multiplier you got from the previous one.
* ParryingBullets: Harry eventually unlocks the ability to do this with his sword.
* PoweredArmor: War has a suit she wears for her boss fight. It only avoids MiniMecha status because it seems to be controlled directly by her limbs.
* RevolversAreJustBetter: Played with. While the revolver certainly looks and sounds like a HandCannon, pretty much everyone dies in one hit anyway, so the higher fire rate and magazine capacity of later pistols outclasses it.
** That said, it's incredibly prevalent during Pestilence's chapter and the man himself uses it as his personal weapon.
* ShoutOut: A [[VideoGame/HotlineMiami familiar rubber chicken mask]] can be found in the first level of Death's chapter.
* SnipingMission: An unorthodox one in one level of Death's steel mill. Instead of swapping as usual, swapping to Judy instead lets you shoot targets far enough out of cover so Harry can make it through.
* SpikesOfDoom: Spikes popping out of the floor are one of the traps you can encounter.
* StealthBasedMission: The first mission against War requires stealth to infiltrate her military base.
* SteelMill: Most of Death's chapter takes place in a steel mill that doubles as his drug production facility.
* SuspiciouslyCrackedWall: Harry can slam through such walls.
* TeleportSpam: Judy can teleport, though only a short distance. She also creates a fiery shockwave whenever she rematerializes.
* ThereWasADoor: Harry can storm straight through some weak walls.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Any sword besides Harry's can ''only'' be used as a throwing weapon.
* TheWildWest: Pestilence's chapter deliberately invokes the aesthetic as the movie he's making is a western. Each level is set up like a stereotypical old west town with some modern props to remind you that it's a film set.
** Additionally, the prop department apparently got everyone functional weapons. All the antique revolvers and double-barrel shotguns fire, and the dynamite is appropriately explosive.
