''Five Nights at Wario's'' is a fanmade sextology of games based on the ''Franchise/FiveNightsAtFreddys'' series, but featuring various ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' characters in the place of the ''FNAF's'' animatronics. It was made by Creator/{{Nintendo}} fan [=WWWario=].

You play as five protagonists in six different locations throughout the sextology. Richard [=McRoy=] in a fast-food factory in ''Five Nights at Wario's'' (released on January 6, 2015, after an initial demo on December 12, 2014), Thomas Taylor at VideoGame/WarioWare Incorporated in ''Five Nights at Wario's 2'' (February 8, 2015), Edward Coleman in a haunted house in ''Five Nights at Wario's 3'' (April 20, 2015), Wario himself in his first restaurant in ''Five Nights at Wario's: Origins'' (July 29, 2015), Richard [=McRoy=] again in his own house in ''Five Nights At Wario's 4'' (June 26, 2016), and finally Bruno Gate in a theater production in ''Five Shows at Wario's'' (February 16, 2021, with a ''Director's Cut'' extension later released in September 25).[[note]]All the installments before ''Five Shows at Wario's'' received [[UpdatedRerelease Updated Re-releases]] mainly known as "2.0 versions" in 2020.[[/note]] These individuals are just going on with their merry little lives trying to get good pay (as with Wario trying to open up his restaurant for his business); however, they are all stalked by the ghosts of classic Nintendo characters and eventually get involved in a potential murder case. Your goal, as in every ''[=FNaF=]'' game, is to survive, as the story progresses through various phone calls.

Each character has different ways to fend off the phantoms in each game. As the series progresses, the characters get more and more exposed to the fiends. The first game had the classic doors from the first ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys1'' (or one door and a window, in this case), the second one has no doors, and you have to hide in a generator room to keep yourself alive. The third game has the character fend for himself and have to move rooms and use different techniques each night, thankfully given to you by the grateful phone calls. The last three games has you roam around the respective locations (or browsing the TV channels, in the case of ''4'') while avoiding or dealing with the enemies using a variety of tools.

WordOfGod explains the story in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTbgzu7a0dw this]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn7UE5QSLvY two-parter]] video, after the making of an outdated version before ''Five Shows at Wario's'' that can be viewed [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3fZ0mN_l-4 here]].

In 2023, it was announced that the games were getting remastered with the Deluxe Edition. The first game’s remaster came out on August 14th 2023.
----
!!Tropes for this game include:
* AchievementMockery: Scare Immunity is unlocked by dying to all five spirits in the first game.
* AmnesiacHero: [[spoiler: Bruno Gate is this in Five Shows at Wario's.]]
* ApocalypseHow: [[spoiler: It's revealed this happened in the first timeline, as there, in the future, the world has ended due to the curse.]]
* ArtEvolution: As the series progressed, the characters got more and more disturbing. Most notably Wario, who seemingly had [[NightmareFace his face melted off]] in the third game.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: The fourth game takes place in one as Richard [=McRoy=] defends himself from the invading spirits.
* BigBad: Wario in the first and third games and ''Origins'', and Bowser in the second game, of course. [[spoiler: VIRUS takes this role in the later parts of the series.]]
* BlackEyesOfEvil: Luigi, Peach, and Toad all have this.
* BlankWhiteEyes:
** Oh man, every other character besides the ones mentioned above has these.
** However, Wario does have white pupils that can be barely seen in close-ups of his face in earlier games. This is most notably seen when he's staring into the first game's Freezing Room camera.
* BloodFromTheMouth: Wario and Waluigi are both seen with this in the second game.
* BookEnds:
** [[spoiler:Origins has a Revenge of the Sith style bookend where the end leads up to the first installment. Night 6 not only has the same exact layout and gameplay style as the first game, But it ends with Bruno Gate killing the Wario gang only for them to come back and kill him. This causes the the factory to close down leading up it’s failed re-opening 7 years later.]]
* CompetitiveMultiplayer: The fourth game allows for one player to control and send out the ghosts against the other player, who controls Richard.
* CosmicRetcon: WordOfGod has stated that the series was started with one. [[spoiler:The Wario's Fast Food Factory staff became tormented spirits because of a demonic ritual Wario did out of desperation, and Rosalina attempted to send their souls into the past to limit the number of people they kill. They then arrived in the main timeline]].
* DemonicPossession: [[spoiler:Richard [=McRoy=] ends up slowly succumbing to it during the events of 2. Afterward, his body over the course of 2 and 3 is used to carry out future killings until he is shot to death by the police in the GoldenEnding]].
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Happens to [[spoiler:Wario and his gang]] in the "2018 Mode" levels of ''Origins'', where [[spoiler:VIRUS takes centre stage]].
* EasterEgg:
** In almost every game, Wario Man would show up in some fashion.
*** In the original, on Nights 3 and 6 only, the Bathroom (which is usually Audio Only) would pop up with Wario Man staring into the camera, with the lights flickering like crazy.
*** In the second one, Wario Man would rarely flicker on screen in rhythm with the lightning for a quick scare.
*** In the third one, he would rarely appear in some of the rooms, and then disappear, however, he was given the biggest role in this game as [[spoiler:he's revealed to be the suit Bruno Gate used to murder the Nintendo characters]].
*** [[spoiler:In the prequel, he's the enemy that you face off in the 6th night in the office of the first game.]]
** In the second game, Yoshi may be looking through the window in the Tool Storage when lightning strikes.
** Clicking Wario's nose in the Origins title screen prior to the 2.0 update would have him exclaim "Hey!"
** In the first four games Mario can be seen in certain locations for no reason.
*** In the first game he can be found in Entrance 1 on the fifth and sixth nights.
*** In the second games he can be seen in the Machinery from the second night onwards.
*** In the third game, hiding in the Hallway can have an animation of him hiding.
*** In the fourth game he can be found sitting on a chair in the kitchen.
* EldritchAbomination: [[spoiler:VIRUS.]]
* EternalRecurrence: According to WordOfGod, [[spoiler:the series is a time loop caused by Rosalina sending the employees' souls back to the past after the DownerEnding of the third game. That said, getting the GoldenEnding of the game breaks the cycle by leading the employees' killer to them, whereby he apologizes to them, and all of the ghosts finally pass to the afterlife]].
* ExorcistHead: Wario can be seen with this when seen with this in the Office Entry, [[IKnowYoureWatchingMe before turning his head back towards the camera.]]
* {{Expy}}: Every character is this in the first game, due to it being built almost entirely from the original ''VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys1''.
** Richard [=McRoy=] is one to Mike Schmidt, as both are night guards working at a place that has something to do with food (a food factory in Richard's case, a restaurant for Mike) while defending themselves from the supernatural for five nights.
** Phone Guy is one to well... Phone Guy, with both sending messages to the player to help them through the nights.
** Wario is this to Freddy, due to both having the role of BigBad and both appearing when the power runs out. Wario also applies as one to Bonnie because he attacks from the left doorway.
** Waluigi counts as one to Bonnie too, since he has almost the same behavior as Wario.
** Both Luigi and Peach are this to Chica, as they go towards the window on the Office's right wall.
** Mario is this to Golden Freddy, as both appear in the middle of the office, and must be warded off by pulling up the monitor.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Both [[spoiler: Emma and Entity 01 are this. Emma keeps apologizing to Gate and promises to lead him out only to put him in a void after it has no more use for him. Entity 01 meanwhile will often chat with Gate in a polite enough manner only to then happily decide to "play" with Gate even after he helps it with it's demands.]]
* FinalBoss:
** ''Origins'' has [[spoiler: Bruno Gate during the sixth and final night.]]
** [[spoiler: There’s a two phase battle with Emma that closes out the Cross Game Quest.]]
** ''Shows'' has two. The first is the battle with [[spoiler: Demon Wario/Emma in the Final Show.]] The second is [[spoiler: Entity 01 who is fought at the end of the EndGame Quest.]]
** The first game of the Deluxe Edtion has [[spoiler: a red Wario that might be this timeline’s version of Emma.]]
* TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou:
** Mario comes out of your laptop in the first game and a TV in the Playroom in ''3''. In ''Origins'', you can actually see him reaching through the screen during his last phase.
** In ''4'', everyone gets in on the action with the exception of Demon Wario, lunging through your TV screen to kill you.
* GhastlyGhost: Almost every enemy you face in the series.
* GrandFinale: ''Shows'' (especially the ''Director's Cut'' extension) is this, since it's intended to wrap up every loose end.
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler: The curse itself, otherwise known as Emma or Demon Wario, is this, as it's what's causing the souls to be trapped eternally as ghosts, and is the cause of the ApocalypseHow.]]
* HonestJohnsDealership: [[spoiler:VIRUS Luigi usually spawns adverts for things like Luigiware and Luigitools. In the Corrupted Theatre's Computer Infection, the ads are more threatening.]]
* InstantWinCondition: Getting to 6 AM usually. It's even required that you abuse this for the Barely Alive achievement!
* {{Invisibility}}: The Invisibility Mushroom allows the user to become temporarily invisible when eaten. These are used as a necessary item for dealing with the ghosts during 1988 Mode in Origins.
* JumpScare: It's a ''Five Nights at Freddy's'' fangame, expecting anything less?
* LeanAndMean: [[spoiler:VIRUS Luigi is absolutely this. It's stretched out to extremely inhuman proportions and is just as dangerous as the others.]]
** Waluigi's just as lanky as usual and he sure isn't nice fellow as a vengeful spirit. [[AvertedTrope Averted]] when he's alive however.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Mario is almost always accompanied with a music box cover of 1-1.
* LevelEditor: The usual Custom Night from the first two ''[=FNaF=]'' games is included in each game in the series, with some games having a few major differences from the others.[[note]]While this trope used to only apply to ''Origins'', the [[UpdatedRerelease 2.0 updates]] would include one for every game.[[/note]]
** The second game allows you to turn the generator on/off.
** The third game allows for more customization, such as the selection of five rooms to be played in the order picked. The difficulty of certain room-specific mechanics are also changeable.
** In ''Origins'', certain characters/mechanics[[note]]Waluigi, Peach, and the flashlight battery[[/note]] can only be switched on/off.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily:
** For some God-forsaken reason, in the first game and the first game only, Wario has 2 sets of teeth. It's never explained how he has this, but he does.
** In the 2.0 version ''[=FNaW=] 2'', Bowser gets two sets of teeth, making him more disturbing than in the game's original version.
** In ''[=FNaW=] 4'', Demon Wario has four sets of teeth.
* MyFutureSelfAndMe: During 1988 mode in Origins, the Wario from this point in time ends up having to defend himself from his haunted future counterpart, [[spoiler:who (along with most of the other haunted spirits) had been unwillingly transported to the past by Rosalina]].
* NeverFoundTheBody: All five of the initial victims in the original game were only reported as missing, however, it's obvious as to what became of them.
* NiceGuy: All of Wario's gang was pretty nice before dying and coming back as angry spirits.
* NoFairCheating: Should the player exit the game in the middle of a show in the Theater and then reopen the game, a message will appear telling the player that leaving is not allowed while warning them not to do it again. [[spoiler: This message also gives a [[EarlyBirdCameo brief glimpse of]] [[BigRedDevil Entity 01]]]].
-->'''[[spoiler:Entity 01]]:''' ''LEAVING THE THEATRE IS HIGHLY FORBIDDEN. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THIS AGAIN.''
* NostalgiaLevel:
** The Classic Mode of ''2'' uses the first game's mechanics with the second game's characters and setting.
** [[spoiler: In Night 6 of 1988 Mode, instead of the usual shtick, the game instead fast forwards to after the opening of Wario's Fast Food Factory. This also takes place right before the murders, [[OhCrap and as such the player must defend themselves from Wario-Man till 6 am]]]].
** [[spoiler: Classic Mode returns in the Director's Cut DLC of Shows. This time however, you are in the first factory with the first game's mechhanics in place as well as some new ones.]]
* OldSaveBonus: If you added Save Files from previous "Five Nights at Wario's" games in the "Fives Shows at Wario's" folder, you will be able to ask questions related to those games in the show "A True Lie" (For example, "Have I Unlocked The Wario Skin In The Daytime Quest In Five Nights At Wario's 3?" or "Have I Completed The "Lady In Pink" Challenge In Five Nights at Wario's 2?")
* OminousMusicBoxTune: Mario is heavily associated with his music box tune, which is naturally the 1-1 theme.
* PetTheDog: [[spoiler: Entity 01 of all people gets this as it’s shown that he did keep his word to heal Bruno Gate’s daughter if Gate freed him.]]
* PromotedToPlayable: Wario in ''Origins''. The rest of the first game's gang is promoted to playable in ''Shows'', [[spoiler: along with Bruno himself.]]
* PurpleIsPowerful: In the third game, Wario is seen with glowing purple eyes. This is fairly suitable due to him being the primary host. The same goes for [[spoiler:Wario Man]]. This also applies to Waluigi [[spoiler: and his VIRUS form]] of course.
* ScareChord: Plays whenever one of the spirits is seen outside the door or window.
** In the second game it plays when any character enters the office.
* SeriesFauxnale: ''Origins'' was initially meant to be the GrandFinale.
* ShoutOut:
** The third game has a section in the extra menu called "Also check out...", which provides links to ''[[VideoGame/OneNightAtFlumptys One Night at Flumpty's 1 & 2]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtSonics FNaS: Maniac Mania]]''.
** [[spoiler: VIRUS Mario's appearance in Shows is very similar to Stanley's appearance in Promo Show from WebVideo/SuperMarioSixtyFourClassified.]]
* SlasherSmile: While the other characters look flat-out depressed, Toad and Ashley have these disturbing grins on their faces.
** [[spoiler: As shown in the Director's Cut DLC, this is Entity 01's expression at least until the endgame.]]
* SpotTheImposter: The game "A True Lie" is all about this [[spoiler:(Except on Insanity mode.)]]. You must find who the real Princess Peach is between the 5 of them by asking them questions. The real one always tells the truth, while the other ones always lie.
* TheFaceless: Mario without a doubt. He just doesn't have a face, '''he doesn't have a head'''. All that remains is his eyes and mustache.
* TimedMission: The Cellar. In it, you must complete four to five tasks before five minutes, otherwise, [[spoiler: VIRUS Wario]] will find you.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler: Bruno Gate becomes this twice. First by Emma who promises Gate "escape" when it was really just using him to become more powerful and then by Entity 01 who promises Gate that if he helps him he will bring his daughter back to him.]]
* UpdatedRerelease:
** The first five games received a series of "2.0 update" re-releases in 2020, with several also getting smaller updates afterwards to make minor changes or corrections. These re-releases tend to vary between making changes to the gameplay, adding new content, etc.
** ''Shows'' got an extended version known as ''Director's Cut'' later in the same year of its original release in 2021.
* WalkingSpoiler: [[spoiler: [[GreaterScopeVillain VIRUS, EMMA, Demon Wario, and Entity 01]] are this, due to them being behind the whole plot, along with the existence of VIRUS and Entity 01 being intended as surprises to the player.]]
* WhamEpisode: ''Shows'' is full of these moments, as it reveals pretty much everything about the series.
* WhamShot: [[spoiler: Richard's death in 3's GoldenEnding.]]
** [[spoiler: Seeing VIRUS in 2018 Mode from Origins for the first time.]]
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: These games play around with this a bit. Multiple characters get this throughout each game. Luigi is missing for all of [=FNaW=] 2, but is replaced by Bowser and Toad. Then he returns in the next game, but now Bowser, Toad, AND Peach are missing, having been replaced by Ashley and Yoshi, but in return, they show up nowhere in the ending. [[spoiler:This is explained, but not by the game itself. Turns out Luigi possessed the phone guy in the second game and then swapped places with Peach in return in the third one. Bowser burned Wario's face off and was de-cursed.]]
* WeakenedByTheLight: [[spoiler: VIRUS Peach seems to be this, as light is usually used to deter her.]]
* WouldHitAGirl: Coupled with regicide. The killer ([[spoiler:Bruno Gate]]), out of desperation, had absolutely no qualms about stabbing the kingdom's crown princess to death.
** One of Wario's victims is Ashley. Doubles as WouldHurtAChild.
