* AccidentallyCorrectWriting:
** Early on in the story, the Cross-Brain introduce the idea that the Nefertaris are looked down on by the Celestial Dragons for not 'ascending' with them, with it being the cause of Vivi joining the Straw Hats in this timeline. Come Chapter 908 of the manga, it's revealed that the Nefertaris really ''are'' considered traitors for choosing to remain in Alabasta. The Cross-Brain then admits they were relieved they got lucky with that detail.
** An incident where a genuine mistake turned out to be correct happened during Enies Lobby. During the chaos, [[spoiler:Cavendish led Big Mom on course to Wano, which the Marines stated was Kaido's territory, the Cross-Brain forgetting that the Straw Hats didn't meet Momonosuke and his retainers until after the TimeSkip, [[ContinuitySnarl where it looked like Kaido's conquest of Wano was a recent thing]]]]. Then, it's revealed that [[spoiler:Momo and his group were actually sent into the future from ''twenty years ago'']], meaning that [[spoiler:Kaido ''was'' ruling over Wano during the Enies Lobby incident.]] Talk about fanfiction predicting canon.
** Later on, Moria tries to [[spoiler:use his Awakened Devil Fruit to transform himself into a dragon, and fails miserably. As Chapter 926 reveals, Kaido, the Emperor who murdered his crew, has a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, specifically the Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: [[TheFourGods Seiryu]] that allows him to turn into a massive Eastern dragon]].
** In Chapter 40, after Sengoku speaks to Cross via Transponder Snail, Cross is pretty sure that Sengoku has Conqueror's Haki, and wonders whose is stronger: his or Garp's. At the time (September 2016), neither were confirmed to have Conqueror's Haki. Later (March 2019), ''Vivre Card - One Piece Visual Dictionary'' (Card #0265, released in the second starter set) confirmed that Sengoku does, and later still (April 2023), Chapter 1080 confirmed that [[LetsGetDangerous Garp does]].
** Buggy in Marineford is revealed to be [[spoiler:able to stand up to Mihawk when he gets serious]]. In the Final Saga of canon, in spite of his incompetence, [[spoiler:Buggy ''still'' is able to stand up to Mihawk when he gets serious]].
** Turns out that [[spoiler:the Five Elder Stars using Conqueror's Haki was also eerily predicted]]. Until Egghead arc, it wasn't known, and in fact it was the less popular theory that [[spoiler:they were indeed good enough fighters to back up their authority. And not only are they more than capable of backing thier authority with thier combat skills, but in Chapter 1111 it's revealed that at least Saint Topman Warcury ''is'' a confirmed user Conqueror's Haki, with Saint Marcus Mars subtly implied to be one as well if one take's Jimbei's absolute shock about how powerful his Haki is at face value.]].
%%** Caribou is seen as a member of Blackbeard's crew after Marineford, having joined him during his raid on Impel Down. In Chapter 1107 of the manga, we see Caribou trying to join Blackbeard in a dark echo of Bartolomeo compared to Luffy.
* AscendedFanon: In celebration for reaching the top 10, [=CV12Hornet=] began publishing the Cross-Brain's fans' omakes that they had written as a side story to ''This Bites!'' One of the omake writers even got to write two canon omakes, which were published in the story itself.
* DeletedScene: Originally, there was an {{Omake}} called "Twenty-Four Hours" in which Jewelry Bonney offered to do ''anything'' Sanji wanted for 24 hours if he delayed the other Supernova's from leaving Skelter Bite so she could enjoy his food more, even personally incapacitating Urouge by propositioning him while taking on the form of a 12-year-old girl. After Chapter 1098 was released and revealed that [[spoiler:Bonney is ''actually'' only 12 years old (post-skip), and had just been altering her age with her Toshi Toshi no Mi]], the Omake was understandably removed from the [=SpaceBattles=] & Sufficient Velocity forums, as well as the omake collection on [=FanFiction.net=].
* OfficialFanSubmittedContent: Shortly after the Strong World preview which reveals that [[spoiler:Vivi finally took the Gust-Gust Fruit seed, becoming a Logia]], one fan over at Website/SpaceBattlesDotCom [[https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/this-bites-one-piece-si.356819/page-739 brought up]] the crazy idea to have her TimeSkip training be [[spoiler:with her ArchEnemy and fellow Alabasta Logia, Crocodile]]. The Cross-Brain loved the maddening idea so much that they actually implemented it into [[spoiler:the Denouement of]] the story's first half.
* OutdatedByCanon: Chapter 1067: [[spoiler:After sixteen years of fans believing him to be dead, [[TheBusCameBack Jaguar D. Saul]] is revealed to still be alive, and survived both Kuzan's deep freeze and the Buster Call. Furthermore, a scene in the first half's Denouement showed the books of Ohara decaying in the water, when in fact, they had been saved shortly after the Buster Call]].
* PromotedFanboy: Xomniac's second cowriter, The Patient One, was invited on due to being a dedicated fan.
** To a lesser extent, 1Coltsguy, who wrote multiple 1st-person Omakes taking place in Water 7, received a cameo as one of Iceburg's workers during the Enies Lobby arc.
* SeriesHiatus: Following the posting of Chapter 85, the final chapter of the first half of ''This Bites'', on September 19th, 2022, the Cross-Brain decided to officially put the fic on an indefinite hiatus, specifically so that Creator/EiichiroOda could finish ''One Piece'' before they continued, and so that the Cross-Brain would have a more complete framework to use while avoiding AccidentallyCorrectWriting and OutdatedByCanon. This being ''Oda'' however, this ''did'' end up still happening to an extent anyway thanks to expanded backstories and history being elaborated on, as evident by [[spoiler:Jaguar D. Saul being revealed as still alive and the further detailing of Kuma and Bonney's relationship]], but the decision was made to keep the series on hiatus. Members of the Cross-Brain ''will'' occasionally contribute to the pages on Website/ThisVeryWiki, but as of April of 2024, the fic has officially been on hiatus for almost two years.
* TrollingCreator: Xomniac, [=CV12Hornet=], and The Patient One love to mess with their fans. The most common examples are their sadistic cliffhangers and their tendency to update in the wee hours of the morning. For example, this gem from Spacebattles when they published Chapter 42:
-->'''The Patient One''': Good heavens, look at the time! Four hours past midnight, everyone should be in bed.\
\
Perfect time for an update!
** Of course, they're also gleefully willing to take advantage of the rope that their own readers give them. In the Spacebattles thread, one poster speculated that, as a troll job, the Cross-Brain could post the chapter offsite, then hide the link to it in one of the links in their signatures. Enter [=CV12Hornet=], who agreed it was a good idea and mused on the logistics of it, then left. Oh, and also replaced all the links in his sig with a JustForFun/{{Rickroll}}.
** After Kuma splits up the Straw Hats, we're shown where Boss, the TDWS, [[spoiler:Merry, Vivi, Carue, Conis, and Su]] all end up, but the creators specifically go out of their way to avoid showing just where Cross and his companions ended up. At the end of the Amazon Treachery arc, they mention making a small breather chapter detailing the current status of all other Straw Hat Pirates... except for Cross. And the preview for the next chapters seems to reveal [[spoiler:Cross ended up at Impel Down, only for it to be revealed as an April Fool's Day joke, and it was actually Bentham using his Clone-Clone Fruit]]. The only hints for the longest time are in the Grand Preview, in which what appears to be a conversation between Cross and Tashigi gives clues: the first is that the place has reception so bad Tashigi can barely make out what Cross is saying even with Soundbite's powers. Second is in what manages to squeak through: that things are worse than they thought, [[spoiler:Seventh Hell, and Hell of Darkness]]. Evidence most likely points to [[spoiler:a super-secret new level of Impel Down, but that turns out to be another BaitAndSwitch]]: the answer finally comes in Marineford Misery Part 3 when, right after the mother of all cliffhangers, we see that [[spoiler:Impel Down does indeed have a seventh level, but it’s only a seldom-used file storage room. The Seventh Hell is then revealed to be an EldritchLocation in the North Blue in the shadow of the Red Line: the Eternally Rotting Tree, Serpent, which the World Nobles use as a personal prison]].
