* ActorAllusion: The concept of the virtuadolls is a thinly-veiled reference to the Music/{{Vocaloid}} phenomenon, with µ being an {{Expy}} of flagship character Hatsune Miku. So it stands to reason that [[Creator/AsamiShimoda Asami Shimoda]], whose most famous role is that of Miku's successor Vocaloids Kagamine Rin and Len, would voice µ's counterpart virtuadoll Aria.
* ContractualPurity: In a similar vein to the infamous case from ''Manga/KannagiCrazyShrineMaidens'', this reaction occurred in the Japanese fandom with Kotono and TheReveal that [[spoiler:she's a single mother]].
* TheForeignSubtitle: The game, the remake, and the sequel is called ''Caligula'' in Japan but ''The Caligula Effect'' outside Japan.
* TheOtherDarrin: Owing to Creator/YuichiroUmehara being hospitalized due to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, Creator/TomoakiMaeno voices Izuru from Episode 9 onwards in the anime.
* PlayingAgainstType: ''Creator/YukaOotsubo'' voicing the cold Thorn.
* RealLifeRelative: The male and female protagonists are voiced by siblings Chiharu Sawashiro and Creator/MiyukiSawashiro, respectively.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** In the game, Mifue (and by extension, Mirei) was originally going to have a whip as her weapon, but it was too difficult to animate on the Vita's hardware, so they went with a hammer instead. In ''Overdose'', Eiji and Stork ended up using whips.
** The anime went through a few concepts for Ritsu before settling on what they did, including him being a sentient virus made to counteract μ and an elderly man on his deathbed.
** A stage play adaptation of ''Overdose'' was announced in June of 2020, but was ultimately cancelled.
