* CreatorKiller:
** The film's critical thrashing delivered a fatal setback to the career of director Stan Dragoti. He only had one more film, ''Film/NecessaryRoughness'', which was actually a modest box office hit, but went "poof" from the movie business (not even any TV credits after that).
** It's also one of a handful of movies in the back half of the 80's that led to Coca-Cola losing control of Columbia Pictures to Sony, and was one of four 1989 films that ended the viability of Weintraub Entertainment Group only months after they released their first cinematic film.
* DuelingMovies: Opened the same day as another teen comedy, ''Film/SayAnything'', and they were reviewed on the same episode of ''Series/SiskelAndEbert''. While ''Say Anything'' was lauded by the duo, they both incinerated ''She's Out of Control'' (it found a place on the Creator/RogerEbert Most Hated Film List), with Siskel commenting that he "nearly quit his job" and Ebert calling Dragoti and the other makers "idiots" and saying they robbed him of "two hours of his life".
* StarDerailingRole:
** This film's failure put an end to any chance of Creator/TonyDanza becoming a Hollywood movie star. He primarily stuck to television afterwards, going back to his successful run on ''Series/WhosTheBoss'' and fronting some other shows after that.
** Ami Dolenz, the daughter of Micky Dolenz of ''Music/TheMonkees'' and British TV personality Samantha Juste, had been gaining some notice as a young actress before this film, including with a regular role on ''Series/GeneralHospital'', but never got to front a high-profile movie again, getting consigned to TV and DirectToVideo movies instead.
