1* DescendedCreator: The game's main writers and designers, Guy Miller and Simon Phipps, both ended up voicing two characters each in the game. Miller voices Legion and Victor Batrachian, while Phipps voices Jack the Ripper and Avery Marx.
2* DuelingGames: With ''VideoGame/AkujiTheHeartless'' (made by the same developers as ''VideoGame/LegacyOfKain Soul Reaver''), as both are action-adventure games featuring a protagonist who uses voodoo powers that came out within one year of one another. ''Shadow Man'' is by far the most well known thanks to being ported to multiple platforms, still having a modern means of availability (unlike ''Akuji''), and receiving a sequel. However it's worth noting that ''Akuji'' was exclusive to the [=PS1=], and ''Shadow Man's'' [=PS1=] port is regarded as the worst version of the game, so at the very least ''Akuji'' provided [=PS1=] gamers with a good alternative.
3* ExecutiveMeddling: Post-release, one can sum up why this game and the other Valiant-based Acclaim games haven't been released on the download networks, despite years of promise that they would be- Jim Shooter. Shooter started Valiant Entertainment, bought back the rights to the old Valiant properties and rebooted them his way, and in the process the Acclaim versions of the characters have been all but buried.
4** One has to wonder if Shooter forgot that it was Acclaim who gave him his chance with these characters again with Unity 2000, after the Valiant shareholders booted him out of his company.
5** The PC version is now available on Steam as of November 2013, and a full Remastered version by Nightdive Studios released in April 2021.
6* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Upon the release of the remaster, Nightdive Studios delisted the original from Website/GOGDotCom along with stopping purchases of the original game on {{Platform/Steam}}, which means those interested in playing the original version who didn't grab the original on Steam may have to look for secondhand copies.
7* OrphanedReference: The pre-fight cutscenes with Pike and Cruz both allude to the locations their encounters were meant to take place in before being cut, with Pike's rambling about you trespassing on his "property" standing out as somewhat odd, considering he's occupying a prison cellblock in the finished version. The 2021 rerelease fixes these by restoring the two Liveside areas they were originally planned to appear in.

9** The original game was scheduled to be released on late 1998 for Nintendo 64 and early 1999 for PC, but both versions were delayed to August 31, 1999. The Playstation port was also released on the same day, while the Dreamcast version was released on December 1st, 1999.
10** While the remastered version came out on April 15, 2021 as scheduled, an unused boss (the Seraph Queen) and an unused enemy (the Deadworm) weren't ready to be implemented at launch. Both were finally added on the 1.5 Beta update on PC.
11* TheOtherDarrin: Mama Nettie's VA got replaced in the sequel.

13** The Engine Block was evidently intended to be larger, as it contains multiple locked doors that can never be opened. There is also one out of place empty doorway in the same level, that only has a wall behind it.
14*** Several cut levels and bosses have been restored for the Remastered release by Nightdive Studios, including the Experimentation Rooms in the Asylum, and two Liveside levels (so that all of the Five now have their own level instead of three of them being in the Texas prison), a Summer Camp in Florida and a Salvage Yard in the Mojave Desert. Where the levels, enemies and bosses could not be restored directly, they were recreated from the original design documents.
15** Two bosses (Yort and the Seraph Queen) and four enemies (Yort Floater, Deadworm, a zombie and a one armed zombie) were cut before the game's release, with the former two having concept art in the Book of Shadows. Most of them were restored in the remastered version. However, as mentioned above, both the Seraph Queen and the Deadworm are planned to be added alongside the console versions with a patch.
16** Just like every other game made by Iguana Entertainment at the time, there was originally going to be a LogoJoke where [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CzlT0_Ay7k Iggy the Iguana was originally going to run after a Deadside Zombie and eat it]]. It was probably scrapped after their UK division was rebranded into Acclaim Studios Teesside. There was also another [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGBIntu_cjI unused intro cutscene with the Acclaim logo in the Liveside]]. Both intros were restored in the remastered version.
17*** Alternatively, there's an unused model of a Deadside version of Iggy in the game's files, which was probably meant for another intro cutscene.
18** The first game was originally going to have a SequelHook cutscene that ties into the second game. Said cutscene would feature a golden fetus inside a bubble with three spinning rings at the Deadside Marrow Gates. The cutscene would slowly zoom the camera into the fetus while it slowly repeated Asmodeus' name. While the cutscene was removed, the model of the fetus can still be found in the game's files. The fetus was later added in the remaster.
19** Probably ''2econd Coming'''s most well known "What Could Have Been" doesn't relate to the game itself, but its marketing. Acclaim's UK branch had intended to put '''''advertisements on tombstones''''', which they justified by both the fact that it's a game about death and that it could be a way to help lower income families pay for funeral expenses. Unsurprisingly, the negative reception combined with politicians and the Church of England vetoing such a practice lead to this marketing stunt being axed before it ever got off the ground.
