!!General Trivia
* ShowAccuracyToyAccuracy: Most of the episodes of the show were based loosely on toy playsets, with an emphasis on the word "loosely." Sometimes key elements are removed or added, often [[AdaptationalHeroism villains become anti-villains or even straight heroes]], and their individual power levels are either [[AdaptationalBadass ratcheted up]] or [[AdaptationalWimp toned down]]. Of course, your mileage may vary as to whether this makes the show better or worse.

!!Trivia For The Show
* InternationalCoProduction: Between Creator/FilmRoman of the US, Bohbot Entertainment of Germany, Canal Plus of France and Bluebird of the UK.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The series is sadly hard to find these days, at least in physical copy. The full series is up on Website/YouTube (albeit in ''miserable'' video quality) with the permission of the rights owners. It was last rerun on the Creator/USANetwork's ''Action Extreme Team'' block in the mid-90s.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: The show was not very well-liked by the network due to its dark tone. There was no way for censors to easily cut the darker moments without rendering entire episodes incomprehensible, and the network got tired of dealing with complaints about it. The show was canceled halfway through the second season, abandoning that season's ResetButton ending, which was obviously intended to lead into a third season that never managed to get made.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Creator/JasonMarsden was the original choice for the voice of Max.

!!Trivia For The Toyline
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Near the end of the toyline's run there were plans for three large "Mega Head" playsets. Of the three, only "Mighty Max Assaults Skullmaster" was actually released. There was also one based on Skullmaster's minion Warmonger, and one called "Doom" which is based on [[https://mightymax.fandom.com/wiki/Doom_(mega_head) an EvilSorcerer of the same name]]. These other two Mega Heads were advertised and even had working prototypes made for them, but they were never actually put into production.
** It's been revealed there was also a planned fourth toyline called "Into the Battle Zone" that would've aged Max up a few years and had him and the other characters carrying guns around. From what can be seen it looks like it was trying to cash in on the trends governing gritty 90's comic books. Full details can be found elsewhere, but a few of the highlights include...
*** Vehicles, called Battle Wheels.
*** More of an emphasis on spring-loaded projectiles in the toys.
*** The previously mentioned Mega Heads, retooled as "Battle Fortresses".
*** Many more heroes and villains. There were planned to be eight sets of four (32 total characters), presumably with four villain sets and four hero sets. Of the eight, only four of the Figure Packs are known. They are Skullmaster's Marauders, Norman's Heroes, Max's Avengers, and The Dark Company.
