* ActingForTwo:
** In the Japanese version:
*** Creator/YujiUeda, Keitaro Urashima's regular voice actor, also played Lamba Lu (which is carried over to the English release) and Keitaro's ancestor Keisuke Urashima, as well as Mutsumi's Keitaro disguise in ''Love Hina Again''.
*** Hiroyuki Yoshino and Michio Miyashita, who respectively voice Masayuki Haitani and Kimiaki Shirai (Keitaro's friends), also voice several one-off characters including the elders.
*** Yukie Maeda voices Sachiyo Matsumoto, one of Motoko's friends, as well as Tama and some minor characters.
*** Though credited for voicing Haruka Urashima, Creator/MegumiHayashibara also plays Shinobu's classmate Akiko Taichi in the TV series and OVA specials, as well as Kanako's Haruka disguise in ''Love Hina Again''.
*** Creator/RyotaroOkiayu and Creator/YuiHorie also play Kanako's respective disguises for Kentaro and Naru in ''Love Hina Again''; this is carried over to the foreign releases.
** In the English dub:
*** Mitsune Konno and Hina Urashima are both played by Creator/BarbaraGoodson.
*** Creator/RebeccaForstadt voices Mei Narusegawa and Sachiyo Matsumoto.
*** Kaolla Su, Amalla Su and Tama are all voiced by Creator/WendeeLee.
** In the Italian dub of the TV series, Ludovica Marineo voices both Haruka Urashima and Hina Urashima.
* AmateurCast: The Latin American Spanish dub's cast was full of amateur actors, since the dub was an innocent victim of a voice actor strike caused by ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'''s local [=VAs=], forcing the studio to rely on this. The only veterans at the time were Mei (Georgina "Gina" Sánchez) and Mutsumi's (Creator/LilianaBarba) voice actors, and it shows.
* DirectedByCastMember:
** In the English dub, Creator/WendeeLee is the ADR director as well as the voice of Kaolla, Amalla and Tama.
** Fabián Mejía directed the Latin American Spanish dub and was one of the additional voices.
* ExecutiveMeddling: Creator/ProductionIG's North American division was closely involved in the English dub of ''Love Hina'', constantly overruling the director Creator/WendeeLee on casting and line delivery.
* FollowTheLeader: [[WordOfGod Ken Akamatsu]] admitted he was inspired by {{dating sim}}s when writing ''Love Hina'', and his main influence was clearly the ''VisualNovel/TokimekiMemorial'' series. For example, Naru was based on Shiori Fujisaki and the legend of getting happiness for a couple by entering Todai was inspired from ''[[PortmanteauSeriesNickname Tokimemo 1]]''[='=]s "[[WorldTree Legend of the Tree]]".
* FranchiseKiller: The Latin American Spanish dub of the series was ''so bad'' that any plans to bring the [=OVAs=] there were canceled. Also, the series only lasted one single season (at least in Creator/CartoonNetwork in Latin America) and it wasn't re-run. To be fair, the dub was a collateral victim of the voice actor strike caused by ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' Mexican cast when they were fired, causing Optimedia Productions to rely on amateur (at the time) voice actors instead, with the only exception of Mutsumi's Latin American [=VA=] Creator/LilianaBarba.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: In North America, the original anime series has been licensed by Creator/{{Funimation}} after Bandai Entertainment went out of business, and ''Love Hina Again'' was rescued by Creator/DiscotekMedia in 2020. But if you want to find ''Silent Eve'' and ''I Wish Your Dream'' on DVD, your best chances would be to find it on [=eBay=] or in thrift shops.
* LateExportForYou:
** The TV series didn't reach Latin America until 2006, when it was broadcast on Creator/CartoonNetwork.
** ''I Wish Your Dream'' premiered in Italy in March 2019, eighteen years after its Japanese release. It was later released on Blu-ray along with the TV series and ''Silent Eve''.
* LicensedGame: Several {{romance game}}s and {{dating sim}}ulations were created using the ''Love Hina'' universe. Only the UsefulNotes/GameBoyAdvance game ''[[http://vndb.org/v696 Love Hina Advance ~Shukufuku no Kaneha Narukan~]]'' received a FanTranslation.
* NoDubForYou:
** Only the TV series made it to the 2006 Latin American Spanish broadcast on Creator/CartoonNetwork.
** ''Love Hina Again'' was never dubbed into Italian or French.
* NoExportForYou: The Japanese video games haven't been released in North America.
* RoleReprise:
** All of the anime's voice actors reprised their roles for the tie-in games.
** For the 2019 Italian dub of ''I Wish Your Dream'', all of the TV series' voice actors reprised their roles.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork:
** In North America, when Creator/ProductionIG overruled Creator/WendeeLee over the voice direction and casting.
** The Latin American Spanish dub was screwed by ''both the voice actors and the network'' at the same time. While ''Love Hina'' is infamous for being extremely hard to dub, the dub suffered from being dubbed almost entirely by amateur voice actors (due of a voice actors' strike in Mexico after ''The Simpsons''' original voice actors were replaced with non-unionized actors). Due of the subpar performance of almost all the voice cast, and because it aired overnight, Cartoon Network pulled out the series after its first run.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The first volumes show some drafts and scrapped ideas:
** Keitaro had a different surname (Akaishizawa), no glasses, more optimistic, more realistic, very critical and owned a motorcycle. He was much less of a pushover and he sincerely considered evicting the tenants to sell the Inn. The girls originally only wanted to befriend him because they wanted to avoid being kicked out.
** The original Naru was called Midori and something of a mix between Mutsumi and the current Naru, who meets Keitaro by falling through the ceiling and landing in his bed. This actually happens to Mutsumi in the manga, though that's much later on.
** According to Akamatsu, Shinobu was the character who changed most during the early drafts. She had a cute look, a serious personality, always angry and initially hated Keitaro.
** Kaolla was known only as "the foreigner" and was older.
** Otohime had a sad and serious expression.
** Haruka supposed to be a single mom with a long hair and in the middle of her postgraduate studies.
* StudioHop:
** The anime was licensed for a North American release by Creator/BandaiEntertainment. When it went out of business, the TV series was picked up by Creator/{{Funimation}} and the ''Love Hina Again'' OVA by Creator/DiscotekMedia.
** The TV series' English release was dubbed at California Digital Post. For the [=OVAs=], they were dubbed at Creator/BangZoomEntertainment.
* WrittenByCastMember: In the Latin American Spanish dub, Carlos Galindo (aka Galo Balcázar) is the ADR translator as well as Noriyasu Seta's voice actor.
* YouSoundFamiliar: Creator/SandyFox, Moe's English voice actress, would later voice Kuro (Kanako's cat) in ''Love Hina Again''.
