* ActorInspiredElement: Creator/ElliotPage came up with Juno's hairstyle and also did their own hair every day. They also suggested that Juno would be a fan of the music by Kimya Dawson and The Moldy Peaches.
* AwesomeDearBoy: Creator/JKSimmons had this reaction when seeing the script. He joked he'd take the part of the teacher who has no lines, just to be involved with the film.
* CaliforniaDoubling: Shot in Canada, starring two Canadian actors, but set in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
* CastTheRunnerUp: Creator/OliviaThirlby originally auditioned for the lead but was eventually cast as Leah.
* CreatorBacklash:
** When [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_House_Bill_481 a major anti-abortion law]] was considered for passing by Georgia lawmakers, Diablo Cody admitted in an interview that she has disowned the film. While Cody doesn't regret the quality of the movie nor her work, she states that she would not have written ''Juno'' in light of anti-abortion activists co-opting the film in their debates, and making people perceive the movie as an anti-abortion film when it was meant to be neutral on the subject.
** Creator/ElliotPage deeply regrets his line that the name Madison "sounds a little gay," having gotten a much deeper experience in how much words can matter since coming out of the closet.
* DawsonCasting: Creator/ElliotPage was twenty playing a sixteen-year-old. Creator/MichaelCera was nineteen.
* DoingItForTheArt: Creator/JenniferGarner dropped her A-list salary to a percentage point agreement when it was expected to be a small, low-grossing indie film, but the decision paid off when it became a breakout smash at the box office - giving Garner her best payday yet.
* FakeAmerican: See CaliforniaDoubling.
* IronyAsSheIsCast: Creator/JasonBateman plays a man who is reluctant to become a father, around the same time he welcomed his first child in real life.
* RealLifeWritesTheHairstyle: The scene where Juno pulls the van over and cries on the side of the road was added after filming had already been completed and Elliot Page had gotten a hair cut. He is wearing a fake ponytail and his long bangs were trimmed into more of a face-frame cut that is visible in the shot.
* RealitySubtext: Juno says she wants the potential parent to be "cool, like a graphic designer." Elliot Page's father and Diablo Cody's ex-husband are graphic designers.
* ReferencedBy: One line of the movie made Music/GreenDay name a song "East Jesus Nowhere".
* TheRedStapler: ''Juno'' caused what was, by all accounts, a staggering demand for hamburger-shaped phones. According to a New York Post article just after the film's release, burgerphone had a huge rise of 759% in a month.
* RomanceOnTheSet: In Elliot Page's words, they and Creator/OliviaThirlby "had sex all the time" on the set.
* StarMakingRole: Creator/ElliotPage's Oscar nomination catapulted him to household name status (albeit under his former name).
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Diablo Cody's script originally called for Juno to say nothing and just burst into gut-wrenching sobs upon seeing Bleeker for the first time after she gives birth. Some think this would have been more emotional for the audience, as we fully see the reality of the situation crash down upon Juno. However, this might have been ''too'' emotional, and may have made the audience want to see Juno keep the baby instead of Vanessa. Or feel less like a resolution as we get much less of the feeling that Juno's going to be alright, which may have been why it was replaced with a more upbeat scene ("nice legs").
* WorkingTitle: ''Junebug'', but Diablo Cody realised there was already another [[{{Film/Junebug}} movie with that title]], released two years earlier and also featuring a pregnancy.
* WordOfSaintPaul: Elliot Page [[https://www.out.com/television/2019/6/06/ellen-page-says-juno-grew-be-lesbian believes]] that Juno, like "so many" of his characters, would eventually come out as a lesbian.
