* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: Like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Funimation lost the license on March 31, 2016. Hope you hung on to your copies.
* TroubledProduction: It was apparently difficult to regain some of the English cast members if their character only had one or two lines (or in some cases, like with Scar's counterpart's cameo, an utterance).according to the auto commentary of the TV series' final episode Some other examples include Meredith [=McCoy=] (Lt. Maria Ross) having relocated to Israel at the time and Josh Berry (2nd Lt. Heymans Breda) had moved “out to the middle of nowhere” someplace in New Mexico. Lauren Goode (Gracia Hughes) was commuting from Chicago, Illinois. The biggest feat is likely getting Vancouver, British Columbia-based Creator/ScottMcNeil back as Van Hohenheim for only a handful of lines . This may or may not have played a part in why the Premium OVA Collection ultimately ended up replacing some cast members who wouldn’t have warranted the cost of bringing back long before production on the dub of Brotherhood began.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The original, three-hour-long screenplay featured many things that were cut out.
** A scene at the end involving Mustang and Winry meeting in front of grave and reconciling their differences. This was cut from the final draft and the equivalent scene moved up to the first half of the film, meaning that the last time the audience ever sees Mustang is during the climax, leaving his character arc feeling jarringly unresolved.
** There was supposed to be a love triangle involving Ed, Alfons, and Noah but it was scrapped because they felt it'd make Al's story feel unnecessary. It turns out rather well because Noah is quite TheScrappy and the fans would much rather ship the two boys together than with her.
** Izumi's was cut.
** Rose had more children.
** Gracia had a slightly larger role with a far different personality from her Amestris counterpart too.
** Winry had more lines.
** Hohenheim's final moments of dialogue would touch more upon his first-born son, before succumbing to his fate by Envy's hands (well the jaws of his dragon form would be more accurate).
** The movie was originally conceived as a 12 episode OVA series as confirmed by Seiji Mizushima's commentary on the film. This didn't materialize and was instead condensed into a three hour movie that, as noted above, was cut down even further.
