* HostilityOnTheSet:
** For Season 1, Matt Haag and Lele Pons apparently didn't get along on set. The arguments we saw in the show were not just for camera, as Joey confirmed on a livestream that Lele truly hated Matt.
** There was apparently a lot of tension between Gabbie Hanna and other cast members on set, both during her first appearance to Season 2 and her return in Season 4. This was first revealed during a Q&A when Joey's ex-boyfriend/executive producer, Daniel Preda, revealed that there were problems with Gabbie during Season 4. He has stated that she made him cry at points.
*** This was followed-up in June 2021, when Gabbie released an episode of an autobiographical docu-series that claimed that she was forced to wear uncomfortable clothing and jewellery she was allergic to on set, as well as alleging that her dietary needs were not tended to -- which supposedly led to a resurgence of her eating disorder.
*** Rosanna Pansino replied to this video on Twitter with a statement that alleged that Gabbie refused to attend fittings, called a production assistant a "dumb c*nt" when she was told her schedule would be pushed back ten minutes, and that Gabbie was "the most difficult, mean, and selfish person [Rosanna] had ever experienced on set". Her tweet was liked by many other cast members, with Alex Wassabi and Manny MUA also releasing short tweets that respectively described Joey and Daniel as "the most amazing, respectful & professional on set duo I've ever worked with" and "incredible, hardworking people".
*** Joey released a video that alleged that Gabbie was terrible on set and that she was provided all the accommodations she needed. He stated that Gabbie made Daniel get her food from Wholefoods and then left it to rot.
*** Daniel released an hour long video that claimed that many of Gabbie's allegations were invented wholecloth. He stated that the jewellery met Gabbie's specifications and that she always had the option of removing it, that she did not complain about the dress until after the fact and did not attend fittings to get it properly tailored to her, and that he personally prepared her requested food. He also stated that she created a toxic environment that caused one female [=YouTuber=] to ask to be killed off early and that she tried to violate her contract multiple times because she had over-scheduled herself.
*** Daniel also revealed that Gabbie did not get along with Tana Mongeau and Liza Koshy on set. He described her relationship with Tana as mutually toxic, with both constantly bringing up the others' past actions. Comparatively, he described her actions towards Liza as stemming from jealousy.
* {{Novelization}}: A fan-made version can be read [[https://archiveofourown.org/series/862056 here]].
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Although the producers do try their best to keep the game fair, there have been occasional cases where a player had to die by a certain point due having other commitments or requirements. [[spoiler:Glozell's death in Season One was because she had broken her leg just before filming and Joey knew the next challenge would involve a lot of running, putting her at an unfair disadvantage and potentially causing her a lot of pain and possible further injury. The infamous double elimination of Season Four was because Tana had an awards show she needed to attend, and Gabby was being cut due to her disruptive behaviour behind the scenes.]]
* TeasingCreator: Oh, God, Joey, from prior to Season 4, to the point that he toes the line of being a TrollingCreator.
* ThrowItIn: A majority of the series is improvised (courtesy of the guests), and some of the scripted characters end up ad-libbing in response to unexpected reactions from the guests.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** In Season 1, Marvin and Shane would've had a subplot in the first episode. Had the group saved Shane, Shane would've died when the car blows up and Marvin would've killed him during the chaos.
** Joey confirmed in Season 3, Episode 11 (the behind the scenes episode) that he initially invited Colleen Ballinger to star in Season 1, but the scheduling just never worked for her to show up in the series until Season 3.
** It was also stated, during the cast reveal of Season 4, that [[HotBlooded Lele]] ghosted them when they tried to get her to return for the season.
** In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyGU-vE61i0 this video]] Joey mentions several people who he considered as potential guests. Creator/GraceHelbig and Mamrie Hart were apparently invited to appear on a season, but were unable to appear at the time, while Jenn [=McAllister=] and [[WebVideo/{{IISuperwomanII}} Lilly Singh]] were both considered for season 4. Jojo Siwa was also apparently someone that Joey had in mind, but as she was under 18 at the time of the show's production, there would've been restrictions on how long she could be on set.
** Cristine Rosenberg of WebVideo/SimplyNailogical stated on an episode of her podcast that Joey reached out to her about appearing in season 2, but she turned it down in part because of her own hesitance about doing the show, and in part because she was unsure she would be able to get enough time off work to fly to L.A. and film the show.
** Joey stated that season 2 was going to have a revival by using the mechanical heart from Season 2, Episode 7. However the chosen guest, Jesse, turned it down.
