* ActingInTheDark: Auditioned for August knowing only what was in the script for "True North". The creators reportedly tried to keep August's true identity a secret from him for ages. The {{Irony}} of this was not lost on him.[[note]][[DontExplainTheJoke Lying to the actor playing Pinocchio]].[[/note]]
* ActorAllusion: Guest starred in an episode of ''Series/LawAndOrder'' playing a war veteran.
* ActorSharedBackground: He was a writer in his youth like the real David Kenyon Webster. Technically subverted with August, as he isn't actually a writer - just pretending to be.
* BillingDisplacement: Of a sort. He was listed in the main titles for the second half of ''Series/OnceUponATime'' season 1, although he was absent from three episodes and had only small scenes in a few others.
* DyeingForYourArt:
** Shaved his head on-screen for a scene in ''Film/FightClub''.
** Participated in a gruelling ten-day boot camp to prepare for ''Series/BandOfBrothers''.
* EnforcedMethodActing: Because Webster is in the hospital for episodes 6 and 7, Eion took a vacation to India while they were being filmed. This helped drum up feelings of resentment towards Webster from the rest of the cast.
* FunnyCharacterBoringActor: He's very soft-spoken and reserved in interviews, compared to the snarky characters he usually plays.
* PlayingAgainstType: As a {{Yandere}} arsonist in ''Series/Stalker2014''.
* ReclusiveArtist: At one point didn't update his Twitter account for five years. And he posts very rarely.
* ShortLivedBigImpact: Two of his more famous roles. He was only a ''OUAT'' regular in the second half of Season 1 and only appeared in 5 out of 10 ''Series/BandOfBrothers'' episodes, yet is one of the more remembered characters in both.
* TypeCasting: Tends to be a DeadpanSnarker or JerkWithAHeartOfGold. The two often overlap.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Auditioned for Bruce Wayne in ''Film/BatmanBegins'', a role which eventually went to Creator/ChristianBale. [[http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/nailbiter111/news/?a=87636 Seen here]]. Averted in ''Series/BandOfBrothers'' as he read for Webster and was cast instantly.
** He was cast in a prominent role in ''{{Series/Westworld}}'' but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, and was replaced with Ben Barnes.
