* ActingForTwo: In addition to playing Fallon, Creator/ElizabethGillies also played Alexis for three episodes of season two due to Creator/NicolletteSheridan departing due to a family emergency and as a result, Gillies temporarily replaced her by donning prosthetic makeup with the explanation that she underwent plastic surgery after suffering facial injuries as a result of Adam pushing her face into her lit fireplace in "Motherly Overprotectiveness".
* ActorSharedBackground: Creator/MichaelMichele is biracial, much like her character Dominique.
* TheCastShowoff: Did you really think Creator/ElizabethGillies wasn't going to get a chance to show off her pipes? She does some singing in "[[ChristmasEpisode Rotten Things]]", when Thomas Carrington insists on the tradition of Steven and Fallon performing carols, and again when they're practicing a ballad for [[spoiler: Thomas' funeral, as per a request in his will]], then again in the Season Two premiere. The Christmas episode also gives Creator/NathalieKelley a chance to show off some pretty nifty footwork.
** Seasons three and four give Fallon more time to show off from a musical episode to going to a karaoke bar.
* FakeAmerican:
** Creator/NathalieKelley, who plays Cristal, is Peruvian[[note]]and like Cristal herself has a Venezuelan father[[/note]]-Australian.
** Creator/JamesMackay, who plays Steven, is Australian.
** Rafael de la Fuente, who plays Sam, is Venezuelan.
** Sam Adegoke, who plays Jeff, is Nigerian.
** Subverted with Alexis' original actress Creator/NicolletteSheridan, since though she was born in Britain, she moved to the States when she was ten.
* LateExportForYou: Unlike season 1 & 2, Netflix [[{{ScrewedByTheNetwork}} no longer release new episodes weekly]] for international audience from season 3 onwards until the whole season finished airing. This is due to CW-Netflix deal expired, which also effected Series/{{Black Lightning|2018}}. Oddly this never happened to Series/{{Riverdale}}.
* SeparatedAtBirthCasting: Creator/ElizabethGillies (Fallon Carrington) and Creator/ElaineHendrix (Alexis Carrington) could easily pass off as mother-daughter in real life due to their resemblance.
* ScheduleSlip:
** Due to a combination of the COVID-19 Pandemic truncating production of season three and season four being moved to The CW's summer schedule, almost a full year passed between the finale of the former and the premiere of the latter.
** A less dramatic example in season five, where beginning in July of 2022, the series had a handful of two week gaps between episodes. This may have been due to production or writing delays caused by the sudden cancellation or another factor - the series didn't wrap filming until August [=3rd=] of that year.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** After Creator/NicolletteSheridan had to leave the show for personal reasons, Elizabeth Gillies (under heavy makeup) temporarily played Alexis (justified in-universe by her having plastic surgery), before Elaine Hendrix was ultimately cast.
** Cristal Jennings is played by Creator/DaniellaAlonso after season 2 when Creator/AnaBrendaContreras could not return.
* ThoseTwoActors:
** Creator/RobRiley and Creator/ElizabethGillies had both appeared together in the episode "Stage Fighting" in ''Series/{{Victorious}}'' back in 2010.
** Creator/ElaineHendrix and Creator/ElizabethGillies both also starred together in ''Series/SexAndDrugsAndRockAndRoll'', with Hendrix's character taking on a (much, ''much'' less antagonistic) maternal role to Gillies'.
** In season five, when Elizabeth got to direct an episode, said episode featured Matt Bennett, who co-starred with her in ''Victorious'', in a small role where his character was auctioned off for a night as part of a fundraiser. As Fallon was emceeing the auction, the two shared screen time together.
* QueerCharacterQueerActor: Rafael de la Fuente is gay like his character Sam.
