* AscendedFanNickname: The v3.0 update seems to confirm Mary's sheep's name to be Marv, as shown in the level editor.
* ColbertBump: Interest in the game definitely increased after ''VideoGame/CadenceOfHyrule'' was announced. This was only bolstered once ''Cadence'' actually released, thanks to the Nintendo Switch version of ''[=NecroDancer=]'' being on sale for a mere $4 at the time, prompting many players to purchase both games at once.
* DummiedOut:
** The Teal Scroll, which sent you to the next floor without having to fight the miniboss, was removed from later versions of the game for making speedruns too luck-based, though its graphic, as well as voice clips for a "Descend" spell, can still be found in the game's data folder and, as of v3.0, in the level editor.
** The Boots of Speed, which allowed players to have an extra input between normal beats, allowing Cadence to play like Bolt at all times. These were eventually removed from the game for causing messy interactions and clunky code, though an item with the same name, which enables movement while ignoring the beat, would appear in ''Cadence of Hyrule''. The Boots, while still unused, also got reworked to just enable double time when equipped in v3.0.
** The Ring of Phasing was removed from item pools in the ''Amplified'' DLC, though it was left in the level editor. The [[ArrangeMode Phasing Mode]] added in the same DLC enables the phasing ability, but without the ring.
** Several unused enemies can be found in the level editor, many with nearly complete behavior. These include: Trolls, orc-like enemies that run away to heal themselves when attacked; Crystal Skeletons, which leave a patch of damaging crystals on death; Skeleton Spearmen, which throw their spear from afar; Skeleton Tanks, a reskinned beetle that acts similarly to Minotaurs; and others.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: According to early access builds, "Ghost" and "Thief" were the placeholder names of two playable characters that were never released. They seem to have been turned into the Ring of Phasing and Ring of Shadows items.
