1* BadExportForYou: In an inversion of the NTSC-is-superior convention with console games, the North American release of Colin [=McRae=] Rally 2.0 for the original Platform/PlayStation were somewhat watered down compared to their PAL counterparts, where not only that it was a touch slower, Nicky Grist's co-driving and narration was replaced by the retired driver and racing announcer Ned Jarrett.
2* CastTheExpert: Besides Colin himself, who served as the series' technical advisor, co-drivers Nicky Grist and Derek Ringer lent their voices and likenesses in the games. Grist was absent in the VideoGame/DiRT games, but later reprised his role in [=DiRT=] 4.His pacenote lines from previous titles were reused in the mobile remake of the first two games. In [=DiRT 4=] Jen Horsey was the default co-driver in the original release, but Nicky was eventually made as the starting co-driver in later patches by popular demand.
3* NonActorVehicle: A number of [=McRae=] fans first knew him from the video game series. Some of them didn't realise that Colin was in fact a real person at all!Given rallying being not as popular in North America as it is in Europe, this doesn't come as a surprise. Colin's voice acting left a lot to be desired for his near-monotone delivery in the Rally School levels. Grist's pace notes were a wee less so, but not to the level that he does in RealLife. This improved over time, though, but Colin basically left all the acting to his co-drivers later on in the series, mostly serving as the brand ambassador and consultant instead.
4* PromotedFanboy: Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier reportedly played the games prior to their careers as professional rally drivers.
