Context Trivia / Carmageddon

Go To

* BannedInChina: Was banned in Brazil, while censored versions were released in some countries.
* DawsonCasting: {{Inverted|Trope}} with then 14-year-old Faye Morey, who was cast as the much older Die Anna, after being picked out from an audition in high school.
* DummiedOut:
** "Timer Frozen!" and "Timer Thaw!" are explicitly labelled as powerups in the first game's manual, and they still exist in ''Carmageddon II'', but they never spawn on maps and are only accessible via Cheat Mode. Given this, it is possible that they were dummied out just before the game went gold.
** The Steel Gonad o' Death is a hidden cheat in ''Carmageddon II'' that can only be accessed by using a third-party patch and cheat code editor. It is a test of the game's physics engine handling spheroid shapes, knocked up by the same developer who designed the game's damage mechanics, and what it does is [[BeTheBall turn the player's vehicle into an indestructible giant ball]] that controls and interacts with other objects very weirdly.
* FollowTheLeader:
** A Russian game, Armageddon Riders, tries this but with more emphasis on racing.
** ''VideoGame/ZombieDriver'' essentially combines the backstory of the first game's censored version with gameplay mechanics similar to ''VideoGame/CrazyTaxi''.
* PromotedFanboy: For ''Reincarnation'', the top three Kickstarter backers who donated the most money got to design their own vehicles and appear in-game as the respective drivers.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The first game was originally intended to be a LicensedGame of ''Film/MadMax''.
** The first game was also ported to the Platform/{{Gizmondo}}, featuring some improvements over the PC release (such as making The Plow not wheelie when it was equipped with better engine upgrades). However, due to Tiger Telematics' bankruptcy, this version was not released until ''Carmageddon'' was ported to mobile devices.
** Stainless explored turning the Steel Gonad o' Death into an actual powerup in ''Carmageddon II''. Unfortunately, the cheat was riddled with a plethora of {{Game Breaking Bug}}s, so it was instead left in as a super-secret cheat.
