1* AbsurdlyShortProductionTime: After his manager Jon Landau told him that the album lacked a surefire hit single, Springsteen wrote "Dancing in the Dark" [[WritingByTheSeatOfYourPants in a single night in his hotel room]] while he was on tour, then in the studio he and the band nailed the song after just six takes in a single session (it took a while to come up with a satisfactory mix of the song, though).
2* CutSong: Both "Murder Incorporated" and "Pink Cadillac" were cut from preliminary versions of the album. The former would later be released on a GreatestHits album in 1995. The latter was used as a B-side, later made famous being covered by Natalie Cole.
3* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Bruce had intended to give "Cover Me" to Music/DonnaSummer as a show of appreciation for Disco music. Jon Landau had to convince him to keep the song for himself. Instead, Bruce ended up writing the song "Protection" for Summer.
