Context Trivia / AssassinationClassroom

Go To

* ActingForTwo: Creator/LindsaySeidel voices both Nagisa and school mascot Kunudon in the English dub.
* BannedInChina:
** The series has been banned in China in 2015, probably due to its depiction of violence, especially gun violence and toward teachers.
** The manga series has also been [[https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/04/13/assassination-classroom-manga-removed-from-us-schools-after-parental-concerns/ removed from some US school libraries]] after a series of complaints from MoralGuardians over its content.
* {{Blooper}}: When Creator/{{Toonami}} aired Season 2, Funimation added the typical COVID "We're recording from home" notice that all of their recent dubs have had, customized with the show's title and everything. Problem is, Season 2 was dubbed years before COVID-19 became widespread, rendering the notice completely unnecessary.
* BonusMaterial: In 2016, Docomo released through [=dTV=] (their mobile streaming service) webisodes (titled as "Extracurricular Lessons") from events that wouldn't be adapted for the second anime season TV airing (due to many production's restrictions), which were originally available for their subscribers until it was announced that they would be getting a home media release in November 2016. Unfortunately, [[NoExportForYou these remain only exclusive to Japan]], as of September 2016.
* CrossDressingVoices:
** In both the Japanese and English dubs, Nagisa is voiced by female actors: Creator/MaiFuchigami and Creator/LindsaySeidel, respectively.
** The female Creator/MegumiOgata provides the Japanese voice for the male Itona.
* CrossRegionalVoiceActing: The Latin American Spanish dub included voice actors from the Cuernavaca and Mexico City areas.
* DawsonCasting: In the live-action movie, several of the actors portraying the junior high students of Class 3-E are in their late teens. In particular, Masaki Suda (Karma) of ''Series/KamenRiderDouble'' fame and [[Music/HeySayJump Ryosuke Yamada]] (Nagisa) are over the age of 20. Only Seishirou Katou (Itona) is an actual 14/15-year-old, the same age as Class 3-E.
* DistancedFromCurrentEvents: Episode 3, which featured "a character swinging a knife to kill a monster", was delayed by a week due to a hostage situation in the Middle East. Two Japanese men were being held by hostage by the terrorist group ISIS, and the deadline for the ransom happened to be on the same date (almost right down to the minute) as the episode's scheduled premier. However, due to a mistake by the Australian simulcasting website, the English subtitled version was still released (and pirated) at the normal time, leading many fans to mistakenly think that the next week's episode was actually the one delayed.
* FakeRussian: Lovro, to an egregious degree in the dub. Creator/KentWilliams gives him a heavy Russian accent, but his lines are full of figurative and idiomatic expressions that would be unlikely for a non-native speaker to use.
* GodNeverSaidThat: When Chapter 83 revealed the cup sizes of the female students, it caused backlash from the [[ColdSniper Rinka Hayami]] fans because they knew that it's impossible for Hayami to have a D-cup. The ''Shounen Jump'' redaction admitted that their editors made a mistake and accidentally switched Hayami and Sumire Hara's cup sizes (C-cup and D-cup, respectively). It was later corrected in the tankoubon release.
* InterfaceSpoiler: The table of contents in the eighth volume has one of the chapter titles scribbled over because it gives away the identity of the southern island mastermind. Episode 21, which covers those events, does the same by having two title cards: one with the person's name changed to "XX", the other with it revealed. Likewise, the contents table for the ninth volume hides the name of the [[spoiler: student who leaves Class 3-E]].
* MarketBasedTitle: The series is called "Invincible Teacher" in the Philippines when it aired on GMA. Averted in the Animax airing, where it is still referred by its original title.
* MethodActing: According to Creator/JunFukuyama [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0f-6ry2RrU in a promo video]], in order to make Koro-sensei's signature voice, he has to force his lips into a wide grin just like the one the character has.
* NoExportForYou: Eventually subverted. Initially, editors for the American version of ''Weekly Shonen Jump'' stated that, despite its popularity in Japan, the series would likely never be released stateside due to the subject matter. However, it has since been released stateside, but only in volume form.
* TheOtherDarrin: Several different people have voiced Koro-sensei throughout the franchise: Creator/MasayaOnosaka in the VOMIC, Creator/TomokazuSeki in the first OVA and ''VideoGame/JStarsVictoryVS'', Creator/JunFukuyama in the anime and the 3DS game (''Assassination Classroom: Grand Siege on Korosensei)'', and [[Music/{{Arashi}} Ninomiya Kazunari]] in the live action movie.
* TheOtherMarty: In the broadcast simuldub of Episode 7, Ryuki was voiced by Creator/ScottFreeman. After his arrest for possession of child porn, Ryuki's lines was redubbed by Newton Pittman for video releases.
* PortmanteauSeriesNickname: Commonly abbreviated to [="AssClass"=]. Ironically, the nickname has been said to give off a fanservice-y, [[HaremGenre harem]] vibe despite the fact that those elements are almost non-existent in this series.
* ThePresentDay: Though never explicitly stated, various clues such as days of the week, common technology, and references to events that happen in TheNewTens (such as "[[UsefulNotes/TheWorldCup 7:1]]") pinpoint the story as taking place during the 2014-2015 school year, the same time frame as the middle of the manga's run.
* RoleReprise: Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto manages to reprise his role as Karma from the OVA in the anime.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: When it finally got a run on Toonami, only the first season of the anime was shown (Up to the Island Resort arc) before it was swapped out.
* WordOfGay: The Official Character Guide reveals Yada to be a lesbian with a crush on Kataoka.
