Context Trivia / NinjaSexParty

Go To

* ActingForTwo:
** The post office worker and zookeeper in ''No Reason Boner'' are voiced and played by Brian Wecht, simply without his ninja mask on.
** Though the Manticore's full face is never seen, he never is onscreen at the same time as Brian. At Magfest 13 Brian confirmed that he is indeed the Manticore and states that [[SarcasmMode his wife "is super proud" of him.]]
** Brian was also the weatherman in "Road Trip" when Danny [[ItMakesSenseInContext pelvic thrust the state of Texas off the map.]]
** Brian played a citizen of dysyopian no-boning world in 6969 music video.
* ColbertBump: According to Danny himself, the group took four years to get 40,000 [=YouTube=] subscribers. After joining WebVideo/GameGrumps, that number went up to 90,000 in the first month alone. Exclusive fans of [[Creator/{{Egoraptor}} Arin's]] channel but not Grumps also found out about NSP from the insanely popular "[[Music/StarBomb Luigi's Ballad]]" video. They are now well over 1 million subscribers.
* CreatorBacklash: "If We Were Gay". Danny said if he had written it now, he wouldn't have relied so much on gay stereotypes. This is especially the case with the original unreleased lyrics to the song which both Brian and Danny admit were not cool.
* TheDanza: Both Danny and Brian are played by people with the same names as them. While they are portrayed as entirely different people, there are some [[ActorAllusion Actor Allusions]] that cross over into their characters; more so with Danny than Brian. For example, Danny is indeed really Jewish, and if his stories from WebVideo/GameGrumps are true, he has had some very interesting sexual escapades, if not exactly the same as those his character has had. Brian, as per his character, is indeed the band's actual keyboardist, and his day job is a theoretical physicist, making his dressing up as a scientist in ''Dinosaur Laser Fight'' a milder allusion.
* DawsonCasting: Both played straight and averted in the "Danny Don't You Know" music video; young!Danny is played by the then 16-year-old Creator/FinnWolfhard, the kid that bullies him is played by the then 29-year-old [[Music/NateWantsToBattle Nathan Sharp]], and Ninja Brian apparently hasn't aged at all since high school, as he doesn't get a younger actor to play his counterpart.
* MissingEpisode: Several:
** Previously, they did a series of short videos called "20 Haikus in 20 Days", which was removed from their channel.
** Another series of short videos that has since been removed, "30 Second Seductions", has been preserved (with Italian subtitles) [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BGV87Mau88 here]].
** A number of other announcements, skits and live performance videos have also since been unlisted, privatized or deleted from the channel. (Just compare [[http://web.archive.org/web/20141002000651/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU-HvaBSVAU&list=UUs7yDP7KWrh0wd_4qbDP32g this capture]] of their Uploads playlist which previously had 74 videos, many more than the channel has now.) These videos are seemingly lost for good, which is regrettable as they featured more in-character antics from Danny Sexbang and Ninja Brian.
* NonSingingVoice: Invoked, to hilarious effect, in two different videos featuring Arin: his vocals as the dragon in “Dragon Slayer” are done by Dan and he's dubbed by Steel Panther frontman Michael Starr as the main Dick Elder in “6969.”
* PlayingAgainstType:
** ''Under the Covers'' features nothing but covers of rather serious songs, such as [[Music/TearsForFears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World"]] and [[Music/PinkFloyd "Wish You Were Here"]]. NSP, meanwhile, mainly focuses on comedic songs that heavily rely on IntercourseWithYou.
** "Danny Don't You Know" is an emotional PepTalkSong that doesn't rely heavily on [[IntercourseWithYou sex]] and more on [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre uplifting motivation and self-worth]].
* PromotedFanboy:
** Ross O'Donovan was one of NSP's earliest fans from before their popularity exploded, and was even the one who introduced Creator/{{Egoraptor}} (a longtime friend) to their music, which in turn paved the way for Arin and Danny meeting and collaborating for many projects. In addition to getting to work with Danny and Brian after they all became part of the Grumpverse, Ross has since been featured in numerous NSP music videos over the years.
** Creator/FinnWolfhard is a huge fan of not only NSP but the rest of the Grumpverse projects. When he met the Grumps, [[https://www.instagram.com/p/BO3OkE1hT-b/?hl=en Dan made the instant observation]] that Finn could easily pass as his little brother. This was eventually capitalized on, as Wolfhard was eventually commissioned to play a younger version of Danny in the music video for "Danny Don't You Know".
* PropRecycling: Danny's weapon in the ''Dragon Slayer'' music video is a replica of the Staff of Parthalan from ''VideoGame/DragonAgeII'', lent to them by Holly Conrad, who made it for a cosplay in 2011. Unfortunately, Brian accidentally dropped and broke it after filming. Danny later wrote Holly [[http://i.imgur.com/G8XZ6M9.jpg a heartfelt apology letter]].
* RealLifeRelative:
** They aren't kidding when they point out Danny's grandmother during ''Attitude City''; apparently that ''is'' Danny's real-life grandma.
** Subverted with Danny's mom in ''Unicorn Wizard,'' whom he isn't related to and is actually Brian's real-life wife. This didn't go unnoticed, and a few EpilepticTrees about Danny being Ninja Brian's son sprouted as a result.
** However, Danny's mom DOES voice Danny Sexbang's mother in ''Welcome To My Parents' House''.
** Danny's dad Avi voices Danny Sexbang's dad in "Galaxy Hamster".
* RecycledSet: The music videos for "Orgy for One" and "Heart Boner" made use of the same bedroom set
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** In the Game Grumps series for ''[[VideoGame/KatamariDamacy We Love Katamari]]'', [[https://youtu.be/sQqFCMQ62Yw?t=3m44s Danny lists off]] a bunch of rejected NSP song titles, which included such gems as ''Did I Fucking Say You Could Stop Partying?'', ''Things Will Never Be the Same (I've Applied Too Much Ketchup to This Hamburger)'', ''There's Nothing Wrong with Making an Honest Living by Selling Illegal Drugs'', and ''Party All Night (or Day, Depending on Your Availability)''.
** Other potential song titles mentioned by Danny in other playthroughs include ''Can't Stop Won't Stop Might Stop'', ''Zombie Handjob'', and ''I'm Literally On Fire''.
