1* AuthorsSavingThrow: The fact that the player character cannot [[spoiler: remain loyal to Kyros in the ending]] was highly divisive. Eventually, Obsidian patched in [[spoiler:dialogue options where your character expresses a wish to do so and an ending where you swear fealty to Kyros.]]

3* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
4** The original idea for ''Tyranny'' came from a 2006 game pitch codenamed ''Fury'', which involved a world suffering from a [[AfterTheEnd Magic Apocalypse]]. That initial pitch was refined into a new game called ''Defiance'', which Obsidian started pitching in 2009. By 2012, the pitch evolved into a game called ''Stormlands'', [[HopeSpot which was picked up by Microsoft]] as a launch title for the Platform/XboxOne. Unfortunately, [[ShootTheShaggyDog it was cancelled by Microsoft during the final greenlight meeting]]. This was the catalyst that caused Creator/ObsidianEntertainment to fire 30 people and almost go out of business before ''VideoGame/PillarsOfEternity'' was successfully kickstarted.
5** If the Art Book is any indication, the game originally had an Act IV and Act V, presumably resolving the cliffhanger.
