[[/index]]
----
* ActorInspiredElement: Like Hypno-Potamus' voice actor Creator/RhysDarby, he is stated to be from New Zealand.
* AllStarCast: The cast is filled with actors such as Wrestling/JohnCena (prior to Season 2), Creator/LenaHeadey, John Lydon, Creator/BenSchwartz, and Creator/ZeldaWilliams, as well as big names in the voice acting industry such as Creator/TomKenny, Creator/MauriceLamarche, and Creator/RobPaulsen (who is also the voice director for this series).
* CastingGag:
** Hoon Lee, who voiced Splinter in the [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012 previous iteration]], voices [[spoiler:his ArchEnemy The Shredder]] in ''Rise''.
** In addition to being criminal [[CaptainErsatz ersatzes]] of Leo, Donnie, and Mikey, the Mad Dogs from "Raph's Ride-Along" are voiced by Creator/SethGreen, Creator/RobPaulsen, and Creator/GregCipes, the respective turtles' voices from [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012 the 2012 series]].
* ChannelHop:
** A very odd (and brief) example; on February 9th, 2019, the show aired on Creator/NickJr, which is strange considering the show isn't really suitable for preschoolers with all its violence. This isn't the only time this has happened with a regular Nick show - ''{{WesternAnimation/Rugrats}}'', ''Series/TheWubbulousWorldOfDrSeuss'', ''WesternAnimation/HarveyBeaks'', ''WesternAnimation/KungFuPandaLegendsOfAwesomeness'', ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'', ''WesternAnimation/ALVINNNAndTheChipmunks'', ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'', ''WesternAnimation/{{Mysticons}}'', ''WesternAnimation/KuuKuuHarajuku'', and ''WesternAnimation/RegalAcademy'' have all accidentally aired on Nick Jr.
** Nicktoons became the show’s home on October 12, 2019. [[note]]Though anyone who knows Nick know when a show moves there, that's danger sign of cancellation, which came to pass in 2020 after the second season.[[/note]]
* DiagnosisOfGod: Staff writer Ron Corcillo [[https://twitter.com/RonCorcillo/status/1554280734319206401 has stated]] that he views the show's versions of Donnie and Mikey as possibly having autism and ADD respectively.
* EarlyBirdRelease: The episodes "Purple Jacket" and "Pizza Pit" were released early on iTunes in December of 2018. The episodes themselves aired in January and February of 2019, respectively.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** According to [[https://twitter.com/RCoA/status/1292683753328766979 Russ Carney]], the show was intended to be entirely composed of standalones, but Nickelodeon requested that the series feature story arcs.
** Season 2 had a 26-episode order, but due to the toy sales of the series doing poorly, Nickelodeon cut it in half, and gave the crew six weeks to write up the series finale.
** Nickelodeon demanded that the Turtles have a catchphrase, so the crew decided to go with "Hot Soup!" as a joke.
* TheOtherDarrin: Wrestling/JohnCena was replaced by Creator/RogerCraigSmith as the voice of Baron Draxum for season 2, most likely due to John Cena having a busy schedule and being expensive, but also due to Draxum appearing more regularly than in Season 1.
* OutOfOrder: A number of the episodes in the series have very clear continuity with each other, but {{Creator/Nickelodeon}} has aired episodes on television that introduced certain concepts ''after'' they had been shown.
* PlayingAgainstType:
** The villainous Baron Draxum is voiced by Wrestling/JohnCena, an AllAmericanFace for the current generation of professional wrestling. It should be noted, however, that Cena had a FaceHeelTurn phase in 2003 during his wrestling career.
*** His replacement, Creator/RogerCraigSmith, also follows suit, since he's more known for voicing heroes like Franchise/{{Batman}}, Franchise/CaptainAmerica, and Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog. [[spoiler:Draxum does end up becoming more heroic, however.]]
** Creator/MauriceLaMarche plays the Foot Brute, a much larger character than he usually plays. By that same token, Creator/RobPaulsen uses a much more gravelly voice when he voices the Foot Lieutenant, in addition to the fact he plays a ''villain'' in this series and not one of the turtles.
** Hoon Lee, who played the 2012 Splinter, plays this series' incarnation of ''[[BigBad the Shredder]]'' in the Season 2 finale.
** In "Always Be Brownies", Creator/HaleyTju voices a character named Julia, who's a big jerk. This stands out from other characters she voices like [[WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse Stella]] and [[WesternAnimation/{{Amphibia}} Marcy]], who are [[Main/NiceGirl nice]], and [[WesternAnimation/BigHero6TheSeries Karmi]], who do have some [[Main/JerkWithAHeartOfGold redeeming qualities]].
** Compared to Creator/ZeldaWilliams' more serious roles as [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra Kuvira]] or even the [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012 last incarnation's]] Mona Lisa, her role as the Foot Recruit is much more comedic and [[LargeHam bombastic]], in a manner similar to [[Creator/RobinWilliams her father]].
* ProductionPosse: Some of the crew members of [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012 the previous series]] also work on this show.
* QuarterHourShort: A lot of the episodes air in this manner.
* RecastAsARegular: Creator/RogerCraigSmith played additional voices in the show, but in Season 2, [[TheOtherDarrin replaced]] Creator/JohnCena as Baron Draxum.
* RecursiveAdaptation: A tie-in comic was announced in April 2018, continuing the tradition of the comic-born franchise's various adaptations getting their own comics.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork:
** On October 12, 2019, for seemingly no clarified reason, the show was banished to Nicktoons and only had premieres there... at ''10:30 pm''. The first season wasn't even finished when this happened.
** Originally, season 2 was supposed to have 26 half-hours like season 1, but this was cut in half because of low merchandise sales, and the series ended with little-to-no announcements.
* TrollingCreator: The crew of the series said that Leonardo would become leader at some point later on in the series. [[spoiler:He becomes leader in the ''last few seconds of the series finale''.]]
* TroubledProduction: From what was said of a Twitch stream by series alum documented on [[https://twitter.com/enjoy_rottmnt/status/1556118435565903872 Twitter]] after TheMovie came out, the show had difficulties due to higher-ups at Nickelodeon having conflicting ideas on what the show should be like, such as many of the episodes being designed to be easy to be replay, but ''also'' cater to older viewers who preferred serialized storytelling, and an administration change resulted in a push toward a [[MerchandiseDriven toy-selling]] focus. Nickelodeon then cut Season 2 in half after the toy sales didn't do so well, which meant the crew had to scrap most of their plans, and were given six weeks to write the series finale.
* WritingByTheSeatOfYourPants: The idea to make [[spoiler:Foot Recruit a [[CanonCharacterAllAlong new incarnation]] of Casey Jones]] came in during development of Season 2, per [[https://twitter.com/RonCorcillo/status/1335130341623746560 Ron Corcillo]].
