* In the ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha''[=/=]''Literature/{{Slayers}}'' [[AlternateUniverseFic AU]] {{crossover}} ''FanFic/BloodThatFlows'', during the REVOLUTION arc, the kids meets an informant of Lyos, a sorceress named Nila Vesnire who [[TheQuietOne rarely speaks]] and her face obscured by the cloak she wears.
* Oblivion's Shadow is this in the ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeon'' fic ''FanFic/BraveNewWorld''.
* Elliot in ''Fanfic/CalvinAndHobbesTheSeries'', at least initially.
** Also, the MTM, who is a CD player often described as an "electric pancake".
* Baron Zemo is this in ''Fanfic/ChildOfTheStorm'', his classic purple mask being attached to his face at all times. His protégé, [[spoiler: Jason Todd a.k.a. the Red Hood]] wears a similar mask, but his actually comes off.
* Bob (Eggman's Scottish Cameraman) and Hungry Phil in the ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' fanfic series ''FanFic/TheCRONIES''.
* The illustrations of the Grand Elder in the ''WebComic/{{Homestuck}}'' fic ''FanFic/{{Cultstuck}}'' avoid showing his face or the tips of his horns, although there’s a brief description of his face in chapter 13.
** The Cult of The Signless wear hoods to hide their faces. An urban legend called "The Faceless" was based on them, although taking a [[TheBlank rather more literal definition of the term]].
* In the ''Franchise/KungFuPanda'' AlternateUniverse fic ''FanFic/ADifferentLesson'' Chao doesn't reveal his face until near the end.
* The ''FanFic/DokiDokiLiteratureClubLoops'' has the player character from the game, nicknamed Hiroaka, whose face is described as a fluctuating patch of nothingness.
* ''Fanfic/DungeonKeeperAmi'': We never get to see what Alphel really looks like, as when she's not possessing a creature, she's always in her dark alcove next to one of her dungeon hearts - leaving everything hidden except her red eyes. From the scenes of her talks with her minions (including her voice), it seems likely - though not certain - that she's large and monstrous.
* ''FanFic/EbonyDarknessDementiaRavenWayVsCanon'': [[spoiler:The Anonymous, who always keeps her face hidden, even from Missy.]]
* In the ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' fic ''FanFic/FailToTheKing'', Monty's helmet covers his face. [[spoiler:Once that helmet gets knocked off, he's promptly killed and transforms into a [[EmpathicWeapon sword]].]]
* Galahad, one of the "Merlins", in the ''Series/{{Firefly}}'' fic ''FanFic/{{Forward}}''.
* [[BigBad The Watcher]] and [[TheDragon the Deliverer]] in the ''Literature/WarriorCats'' fanfic ''FanFic/GoldenDawnLostSunrise''. They aren't actually wearing masks or concealing their faces, but those are concealed from the reader by a lack of description of their physical appearances. Why? Because they're both Clan cats who appear in the story (the Deliverer in particular is confirmed to be one of the she-cats in the first chapter), and their true identities are said to be big twists. As well, Aurora, a young she-kit the Watcher is preparing to kill at the end of the prologue, never gets her appearance revealed either.
* Tango and the black mages in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX'' fic ''FanFic/GoNotGently''.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/Ben10'' fanfic [[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4267279/1/Hero-High-Sphinx-Academy Hero High: Sphinx Academy]], OriginalCharacter Spec Masters (as well as his entire family who serve the Tempus) all wear one way mirror masks. It is supposed to reflect the person they serve as a way to prevent abuse as well as to prevent relationships between the two families.
* In the ''VideoGame/DawnOfWar'' fic ''[[Fanfic/TheLegacyOfTheBloodRavens Nothing But a List of Names to Mark His Ascension]]'', Mercutio never removes his helmet.
* In the ''Franchise/OnePiece'' fic ''Fanfic/MarieDSuesseAndTheMysteryNewPirateAge'', The Disinfector is never seen without his hazard suit. [[spoiler:That is, until Chapter 21 where he is [[TheReveal revealed]] to be Trafalgar Law.]]
* In ''FanFic/MegaManDefenderOfTheHumanRace'', Mr. Black is this at first, and the Conduit is also this.
* Vile in the ''VideoGame/MegaManZX Advent'' fic ''Fanfic/TheOmegaChronicles''.
* Zig-zagged in ''FanFic/{{Origins}}'', a ''Franchise/MassEffect''[=/=]''Franchise/StarWars''[[spoiler:[=/=]''[=Borderlands=]''[=/=]''[=Halo=]'']] MassiveMultiplayerCrossover. At one point, some of the heroes need to become this in order to [[TrojanHorse sell themselves as mercenaries]] enabling infiltration of an enemy base. Many members of the CloneArmy wearing full-body armor qualify as well, but since it's known what the original clone looks like, the trope doesn't exactly play straight.
* Human Perry in the ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' fic ''[[Fanfic/StoriesOfTheVanishedMan Reconstructing the Last Treasure of the Man]]''. (Until he arrives at the party, that is.)
* In ''Fanfic/SilentPonyvilleChronicles'', the hooded pony that begins stalking Demitri after the battle with Dexter.
* ''FanFic/ThisBites'': Subverted; for the first twenty-one chapters and the ChristmasEpisode, the author gives no description what Cross looks like aside from his clothes, but [[http://nouin.deviantart.com/art/Cross-and-Soundbite-Commission-587057354 he did have a picture]] before the story stated that he was around 6' (Chapter 26) with dirty blond hair (Chapter 22).
* The Fans in ''Fanfic/WithStringsAttached''. Actually aliens who describe themselves as “kinda lizardy, kinda birdy,” they use default faceless humanoid computer avatars when dealing with the four, and they're never even shown to the reader. Hints of their true appearance come out in their dialogue, e.g., “Ow! My tail!”
** Except Jeft, whose brief description by the other two suggests he is a fat [[TheGreys Grey]] with poor hygiene.
** Also the god Ardav, who is a bland sexless humanoid who cannot be remembered except as a faceless mannikin.
