* In the ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha''[=/=]''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'' [[AlternateUniverseFic AU]] {{crossover}} ''FanFic/BloodThatFlows'', during the REVOLUTION arc, the kids meets an informant of Lyos, a sorceress named Nila Vesnire who [[TheQuietOne rarely speaks]] and her face obscured by the cloak she wears.

* The Fans in ''Fanfic/WithStringsAttached''. Actually aliens who describe themselves as “kinda lizardy, kinda birdy,” they use default faceless humanoid computer avatars when dealing with the four, and they're never even shown to the reader. Hints of their true appearance come out in their dialogue, e.g., “Ow! My tail!”
** Except Jeft, whose brief description by the other two suggests he is a fat [[TheGreys Grey]] with poor hygiene.
** Also the god Ardav, who is a bland sexless humanoid who cannot be remembered except as a faceless mannikin.

Because they're both Clan cats who appear in the story (the Deliverer in particular is confirmed to be one of the she-cats in the first chapter), and their true identities are said to be big twists. As well, Aurora, a young she-kit the Watcher is preparing to kill at the end of the prologue, never gets her appearance revealed either.
* In ''FanFic/MegaManDefenderOfTheHumanRace'', Mr. Black is this at first, and the Conduit is also this.

* The ''FanFic/DokiDokiLiteratureClubLoops'' has the player character from the game, nicknamed Hiroaka, whose face is described as a fluctuating patch of nothingness.
* ''Fanfic/DungeonKeeperAmi'': We never get to see what Alphel really looks like, as when she's not possessing a creature, she's always in her dark alcove next to one of her dungeon hearts - leaving everything hidden except her red eyes. From the scenes of her talks with her minions (including her voice), it seems likely - though not certain - that she's large and monstrous.
