* The Blue Christmas song, where a little girl tells Santa how unhappy she will be without him.
* Vixen being trapped in the pound, alone and sick.
* Santa Claus is real in the story's universe. The kids can still become cynical and disbelieving that he even exists in spite of his generations of giving gifts to children.
* The song "I Believe in Santa Claus", especially the second verse from the father starting with "So you're too old for Santa Claus?" (in particular the last two lines "For what is happiness but dreams, and do they all come true? Look at me, and tell me, son, what is real to you?") and the ending, where Iggy starts crying.
* More of a FridgeHorror example, but a notable difference in the Miser's songs ("''Friends'' call me Snow Miser" vs. "''They'' call me Heat Miser") implies that Heat Miser [[JerkassWoobie doesn't have a lot of friends]]. Not helped by the fact that he thinks MotherNature favors Snow Miser.
