[[AC: General]]
* Anytime an object that Nomad brings to life dies. He looks so distraught when they die, the broomstick who took an attack for him, the watch who tried to get the Skeleton Key for him, and the Music Box that tried to do the same, who he buries. The poor thing looks like he's about to cry, he doesn't want to lose his friends.
[[AC: Episode 1: The Dreaded Nomad]]
* Skout getting a look at how lonely the Nomad's been, cooped up in the bramble woods for over 100 years.
* Although it's PlayedForLaughs how [[MadeOfIncendium quickly it goes up in flames]], the Nomad is nonetheless [[SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome devastated to see his home burning down]].
[[AC: Episode 2: Bliss Hill]]
* It's a blink-and-you-miss moment, but when the Nomad brings an apple core and banana peel to life, a bird promptly swoops down and carries them off. If you watch carefully, the Nomad is clearly sad that they're gone, instead of the incident being hand-waved as "Easy come easy go".
* The Nomad ends up earning the ire of the townsfolk after accidentally damaging the mill with his magic. Barney's the only one who doesn't blame him, and he seems helpless to otherwise convince the Nomad to stay.
[[AC: Episode 3: Trouble on Purpose]]
* After the events [[ContinuityNod of the last episode]], the Nomad is clearly wary about using his powers, to the point that he discourages himself from bringing some rocks to life, even though he wants to use his magic to create friends.
* The B-story, where Toth and Skout try to make business with oil-mongers down on their luck. The mongers sadly share how they lost a friend not too long ago, and are genuinely down-hearted because of it. When they explain their oil pump is broken and they only have so much oil reserves to trade, [[AntiVillain Toth]] is about to drop the nice act, regardless they've already lost enough. Thankfully, Skout offers to fix the pump instead.
** It goes FromBadToWorse. Skout has good news and bad news: the good news is that the pump is in tip-top shape. The bad news? The oil well is dry. So the oil-mongers, who've lost so much, will have to take their business elsewhere, and make due with what what little they trade their oil reserves for.
[[AC: Episode 4: The Twindleweed Brothers Traveling Circus]]
* "[[PosthumousCharacter Rest in Peace, Harry]], [[MakesSenseInContext wherever you landed]]."
[[AC: Episode 5: The Kindness of Strangers]]
* Nomad thinks that he has [[HopeSpot made another friend]]. [[YankTheDogsChain Nope]]! Turns out this new "friend" is a lunatic who threatens to gut him.
* [[spoiler: The death of the watch and music box. Normally, it's hand-waved whenever an object dies, but the Nomad is especially crushed to see his friends so purposefully and cruelly killed by [[TheSociopath the Undertaker]]. Doesn't help that the Undertaker twists the knife by [[ArmorPiercingQuestion questioning]] ''why'' the Nomad is bothered to see them destroyed.]]
[[AC: Episode 6: El Rey]]
* Although the Nomad still uses magic, when the old Yadalan woman praises that it's good to see magic again, the Nomad shows her his wanted poster, as though miming "No, not good, bad. Look at the trouble my magic's gotten me into."
* [[spoiler:El Rey was a good man who was just trying to find a way to help his people. But his magic crown corrupted him, turning him into the monster he is today and setting up the chain of events that left the Nomad as the last being of magic]].
* [[spoiler:Skout being severely injured]].
* Also, [[spoiler: Toth [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness walking past a grateful Skout]] without so much as a PetTheDog moment like usual.]]
[[AC: Episode 7: Eagle Canyon]]
* Skout and Toth's argument after the Nomad gets away.
[[AC: Episode 8: End of the Line]]
* While at the train station, the Nomad overhears some civilians share rumors about the "grief" he's caused Nowhere. [[DramaticIrony Like drive some poor Undertaker insane, or render a circus bankrupt]]. They're both agreed that Nowhere would be "better off if the Nomad just left". Poor Nomad, despite all his hard work to do good and change the way people see him, there are still those who misunderstand him...
** As though to drive the point home, even Skout treats him like a wanted criminal, despite that he saved her life not 8 episodes ago.
[[AC: Episode 9: Compass]]
* Skout telling the Nomad how she's always messed things up every time she tries to help. Her father may have believed in her, but even that couldn't outweigh how her mistakes hurt her self-esteem.
* [[spoiler: The Nomad is shot [[HeroicSacrifice trying to save Skout from Red Manuel]]. He may be okay in the next episode, but the cliffhanger leaves the audience to believe [[TheHeroDies the Nomad has died]].]]
[[AC: Episode 10: The Witch and The Knight]]
* This episode treats us to the Nomad's backstory, and it's wall-to-wall misery.
** First, the Nomad starts his life as a scarecrow in the service of [[spoiler:a mage and his daughter]]. All goes well ... until [[spoiler:the daughter's own magical ability blows their cover]]. The Nomad wakes up encased in knightly armour and is ordered to [[spoiler:lead the daughter away as the father blows up the troops sent to arrest him - himself included]].
** Later on, the grown up [[spoiler:witch, Melinda, is still trying to hunt for El Rey, while the Nomad wants her to stay in the house he's later found in]]. A bitter argument ensues, followed by a remorseful [[spoiler:Melinda wiping the Nomad's memories of her as they hug]], along with some parting words.
--->'''[[spoiler:Melinda]]:''' I can't make you come with me, but you can't make me stay. You're going to [[spoiler:forget all the time we spent together]]; not because I'm mad at you, but because I don't want this to hurt. You'll be safe here until I find a way to stop the King; and when I do, I'll come back. I promise. Goodbye.
*** [[spoiler: Just the pained expression in the Nomad's eyes as he tries to fight the spell and hold on to Melinda's memory.]]
*** Fridge-Tearjerker: The reason why [[spoiler: Melinda wiped the Nomad's memory was so when she eventually passed away, he wouldn't have to suffer the pain of having outlived the very girl he was supposed to protect.]]
*** [[spoiler:And if the present day is [[ForegoneConclusion any indication]], Melinda failed her quest to free Nowhere despite her determination: El Rey still rules with an iron fist]].

[[AC: Episode 11: The Red Carpet]]
* Red Manuel is a bit [[HiddenDepths hurt]] by how little the Dandy Lions care about him.
* In an especially harsh KickTheDog moment, Don Paragon tells Toth that since she [[spoiler:didn't capture the Nomad]], he won't [[spoiler:help her people as promised]]. This causes [[spoiler:[[HeelFaceTurn Toth to abandon his service entirely]]]].
* The Nomad's reaction to what's Don Paragon says that he's going to do to Skout with his new powers.
* Skout and Toth's conversation counts ... especially when [[spoiler:Skout realises that Toth's putting her people above the Nomad's existence - and responds by locking her in a jail cell and leaving]].
** Skout also [[AnguishedDeclarationOfLove tries to tell Toth that she loves her]], but CannotSpitItOut.
* Among all the inhabitants of Nowhere, the citizens of Bliss Hill are (forcibly) invited to come. Barty is optimistic the Nomad will escape and looks to his dad the Sheriff to confirm this. But the Sheriff is sadly hesitant to agree...
* While the above happens, the Nomad runs into the streets [[HeroicBSOD while hearing the disjointed cachophony of criticisms everyone's leveled at him]] throughout the series. He's clearly at his lowest point throughout the sequence.

[[AC: Episode 12: Fiesta]]
* Poor [[spoiler: Nomad's pinata stead... It hardly stood a chance against Don Paragon's swordsman skills.]]
* You'll likely feel some pathos for Red Manuel when he talks to Skout. As he puts it, he's worked his whole life trying to earn respect and get somewhere in Nowhere - and it's [[AllForNothing always been futile]]. According to him, [[spoiler:his mother nags him about his progress through the military]] ''despite'' his [[spoiler:promotion to Captain]], and [[spoiler:his wife mocks him whenever Toth or Don beats him up]]. Even Skout, who's got every reason to hate him, looks sympathetic as her adversary [[VillainousBreakdown loses his composure]] big-time.
--> [[spoiler:'''Red Manuel:''' Why is it always the same? Why?!\
'''Skout:''' I mean, to be honest, you're a... you're kind of a jerk.\
'''Red Manuel:''' Oh... Oh my God.]]
