* Before the wedding, Aladdin is having some jitters, or "cold feet" as Genie puts it. He reveals to Genie, Abu, and Carpet that he has only one memento of his father: a dagger. Aladdin talks about that he's certain about marrying Jasmine; what he's not certain about is after, with raising a family and being a good husband. As Genie provides some radio-host therapy, Aladdin asks in a breaking voice, "Genie, what if I'm no good at it?"
* The Oracle reveals to Aladdin that his father is alive. He later spends the wedding cleanup thinking while brooding at his old hideout while Abu and Carpet worry. Jasmine comes and talks to him. Aladdin asks how could a man abandon his family and never return?
* "Out Of Thin Air" is half BSODSong, half PepTalkSong. Jasmine takes Aladdin on the carpet, in a reversal of their roles in the first movie, and reminds him that he showed her the world was bigger than she thought it ever was. She tells him that he's one-of-a-kind and unique. Aladdin appreciates it but explains that it's not so simple as not knowing who he is. It's that he grew up without his parents and that someone thought he wasn't worth raising. He and Jasmine pinpoint that he won't get any answers unless he talks to his father, and "rescues" him from the Forty Thieves. She opts to not come along, sensing that this is a personal journey.
** During the song, Aladdin has a flashback of his lonely, orphaned childhood. He had explained to Jasmine that his mother died when he was a kid and his father never reappeared. This left him as the homeless street rat we met at the beginning of the movie. It gets worse when the young Aladdin sees other kids running up to their father. Followed by a saddened look on the young boy's face as they closed their door.
---> "''Your father's a man who tells you who you are. Mine was never there. So how can you say, I don't come out of thin air?''"
* Sa'Luk pinpoints that Cassim has a weak spot in Aladdin and nearly kills him on charges of being a trespasser. Cassim has a "better" idea; make "the boy face the challenge". It's a DuelToTheDeath, and Sa'Luk gleefully volunteers to be the challenger. While Cassim tells Aladdin he can do it and hands him the dagger, you see him with a worried expression as Sa'Luk starts kicking Aladdin's butt. The problem is that Aladdin is a fighter but not a killer, and he is smaller than the larger thief. Sa'Luk manages to punch him to the ground and tosses him over the cliff. All Cassim can do is give a LittleNo.
* Despite having no choice, Aladdin is regretful about kicking Sa'Luk off the little ledge where the latter continued the fight. He tries to save him but doesn't offer his hand in time. After a few moments of StunnedSilence, Aladdin climbs up with sullen guilt and apologizes to the Forty Thieves when it seems they're angry.
* The scene where [[DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou Cassim explains to Aladdin how he set out to chase the Hand of Midas]], but when he finally returned, his wife was dead and his son was nowhere to be found, so he went back to the only thing he believed he had left. Just the way Cassim talks about his wife alone, is ''heartwrenching''.
-->'''Cassim:''' I knew exactly what I wanted for my family; the best. I couldn't give up and go back empty-handed! But, the weeks turned into months, and the months turned into years... I came back to Agrabah one night, but I couldn't find my wife... or my son. I thought my family was lost forever. At that moment, I would have traded ''anything'' to get your mother back.\
'''Aladdin:''' We never wanted gold... we wanted ''you''. I wanted a ''father''. I still do.
* Aladdin's disappointment in Cassim for attempting to steal treasure from the palace. The look on his face just states his dream of reuniting with his long-lost dad has now been crushed.
** Cassim admits to Aladdin he can change his clothes but not his life, implying that despite being his father Cassim is unable to mend his ways and is too deep in crime to go back.
** Then as Cassim is led away...
--->'''Genie''': There's some wishes that even ''I'' can't make come true...
* This line:
-->'''Aladdin''': Tonight, the King of Thieves will make his grandest escape ever... ''out of my life!''
** When Aladdin says the last part, he sounds like he is trying hard not to cry. He wished his whole life to have a father. But the one he had seemed more interested in treasure than in him. So he decides to cut him out of his life and go back to the way things were before.
* Cassim’s face while locked up in the dungeon implies that he is remorseful of his actions and wishes he could turn back the clock. Deep down, despite being a criminal, he was not proud of what he did in the past and regrets that he wasted a chance to bond with Aladdin.
** The Sultan sentencing both Cassim and Iago to life imprisonment is pretty heart-wrenching. The Sultan was beyond shocked that Aladdin’s father was the leader of the forty thieves, and he clearly thought Iago had changed his ways and redeemed himself.
* After busting his father out of the dungeon, Aladdin argues with Cassim, refusing to retreat from Agrabah with him and walk out on Jasmine like his father left him and his mother. Thus this puts the father-and-son relationship to the ultimate test.
-->''(Aladdin has busted his father and Iago out of the dungeon. Later, on horseback, Aladdin and Cassim ride up a hill. They run into a cavern, and Agrabah and the palace just in the distance)''\
'''Aladdin''': Did we lose 'em?\
'''Iago''': I don't know, but I did lose my lunch back there...\
'''Cassim''': They won't be able to pick up our trail until daylight. By then, we'll be long gone from Agrabah. (''Aladdin sadly looks back at the Palace of Agrabah'') I'm sorry for what you lost. But you can't go back now. You know that. (''Aladdin gets off his horse'') What are you doing?\
'''Aladdin''': I'm not going with you! I can't.\
'''Cassim''': Well, you can't go back! The moment they saw your face, your life in Agrabah was over!\
'''Aladdin''': I ''have'' to go back. Jasmine is there.\
'''Iago''': Kid, it's over. You're a criminal now.\
'''Aladdin''': I won't do what he did! I won't run away!\
'''Cassim''': I never ran away from anything in my life!\
'''Aladdin''': You ran away from your ''family!''\
'''Cassim''': I told you what happened! What else could I do? What else can ''you'' do?\
'''Aladdin''': The right thing. You should take this back! (''tosses his Midas Daggar at Cassim'')\
'''Cassim''': You can't!\
'''Aladdin''': I won't walk out on Jasmine!\
'''Cassim''': (''sternly'') Aladdin...\
'''Aladdin''': I'm your son. But I ''can't'' live your life!\
'''Iago''': Al, they'll lock you up!\
'''Aladdin''': If there's a punishment, I'll take it.\
'''Cassim''': (''sighs'') So be it...\
'''Iago''': We have the Oracle! The treasure's just waitin' for us!\
'''Aladdin''': The Oracle?\
'''Cassim''': I had nothing left to lose!\
'''Aladdin''': Yes, you did. (''rides off'')\
'''Iago''': It was supposed to be a father-son outing!\
(''Aladdin takes Iago off his shoulder'')\
'''Aladdin''': Go with him, Iago.\
'''Iago''': What? You mean it? Really?\
'''Aladdin''': Go.\
'''Iago''': Good luck, kid.\
(''Iago reluctantly flies off with Cassim. With a determined expression, Aladdin rides his horse back to Agrabah. Cassim rides in the other direction.'')
** Just the look in Aladdin's face when Cassim offhandedly says the line "I'm sorry for what you lost". It's the wake-up call that lets Aladdin know that if he follows in his father's footsteps, he'll never see Jasmine again. Had it not been for that dialogue, he was ''this close'' to ending up [[ShadowArchetype just like Cassim]]: turning his back on what might've been (a happy marriage and family) and not coming back to Agrabah for years until true happiness was lost to him.
** From that conversation, Aladdin and Cassim realized how different they were from each other. Aladdin was fantasizing earlier in the movie about what they might share but they learn that they actually are ''[[NotSoSimilar nothing alike]]''. Aladdin calls Cassim out and no doubt strikes him in a place where it hurts, his abandonment of his family. This could count as double heartbreak because while Aladdin shouldn't have spoken to his father like that, the look on Cassim's face implies that the latter knows deep down Aladdin was right, and he truly regrets his actions, to the point he is close to crying. And while Aladdin does look guilty on saying something out of frustration, he could simultaneously be looking on in heart break on what his father done.
*** This line when Cassim and Iago return to the den of the Forty thieves says it all. Right before [[spoiler: they discover Sa'luk has turned the remaining thieves against Cassim.]]
---->'''Cassim''': I would never cut my men out of the deal! They are my family, my only family.
* A ''good'' heartwarming moment: the Sultan sees his daughter get married and what does he do? ''He almost '''smushes''' his new son-in-law to death with the hug, also while crazily bouncing between his feet in glee.''
* Later, the Sultan commutes the sentence to exile when Aladdin and the group rescue the duo from the Forty Thieves. Iago and Cassim are allowed to attend the wedding and say goodbye to everyone. While explaining he's fine with leaving, Iago tears up upon revealing that Abu cried a little.
* Even though it doesn’t look upsetting, Aladdin and Cassim waving farewell at the end of the film symbolizes the pair having to go their separate ways. Because he is a wanted fugitive and thus cannot return to Agrabah or ever be a part of his sons life, Cassim will never see Aladdin again - or, to make it more heartbreaking, his future grandchildren. Aladdin meeting his father was very short-lived, and he clearly didn’t need him as he managed to live this long without a father.
* The very last scene of the movie features a final reprise of the original movie's opening song "Arabian Nights", with new lyrics that solidify this film as the GrandFinale, complete with a cameo by [[spoiler: The Peddler]]. In addition, [[spoiler: Iago decides to leave the palace at his own will (even saying he started to cry when Abu did when they said their goodbyes, tearing up) and travel the world with Cassim]].
** The cherry on top of the sundae? The lyrics weren't just composed by the new songwriters. They're the original finale composed by the late Creator/HowardAshman and Creator/AlanMenken, [[WhatCouldHaveBeen where the story was very different]] had ExecutiveMeddling not gotten in the way.
