* Mackenzie and his family are New Zealanders, a reference to the Dog from ''ComicStrip/FootrotFlats''.
* In 'Hospital' and 'Tickle Crabs', Bandit calls himself Telemachus. According to the showrunners, this is because the episode writer likes ''Anime/Ulysses31''.
* In 'Daddy Robot', Bandit remarks that Bluey and Bingo actually cleaning up after themselves feels like "a robo-dream". Chilli replies, "[[Film/TotalRecall1990 Then you'd better kiss me before you wake up.]]" The shot of a beautiful golden-hour sun and the synthwave score are not exact but are nevertheless very evocative.
* In 'The Weekend', the doll that Bluey shares that wears sushi shoes is a reference to [[Toys/{{Shopkins}} Shoppies]], specifically Sara Sushi.
* At the beginning of 'Fruitbat', the family play a game called "Pop-Up Croc", which has a very similar mechanic to the real-life game ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop-up_Pirate Pop-Up Pirate]]''. The character inside the barrel resembles ''Film/CrocodileDundee''.
** Another shoutout comes in 'Muffin Cone' in the sandwich shop: "That's not a knife! This is a knife!"
* A plush dog version of [[VideoGame/{{Undertale}} Sans]] can be seen briefly in 'The Sleepover' and 'Mr. Monkeyjocks'.
* Bentley being [[Recap/TheSimpsonsS8E19GradeSchoolConfidential stuck on the monkey bars]] in 'Bike' plays out almost exactly like [[https://youtu.be/uvCr-Mecp0A this scene]] from ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons''.
** On another note, in 'Dad Baby', Bandit – with Bingo in his papoose – tries eating [[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_sim Dim Sims]], only for each one to get snatched by Bingo, [[Recap/TheSimpsonsS6E20TwoDozenAndOneGreyhounds very similar]] to [[https://youtu.be/9ul7fvdcIYI?si=Vna4t1YxAKnt3ON0 this moment]].
* In 'Yoga Ball', Bandit plays a game called Film/{{Raiders|OfTheLostArk}} with Bluey and Bingo, which involves being chased down the corridor by the titular ball.
* In 'Fairies', Bandit dances a jig in front of the neighbours, resulting in him saying...
-->"[[Film/{{Gladiator}} Are you not entertained?!]]"
** Among the objects in the back garden circled by fairy rings are a teapot and teacup that resemble [[WesternAnimation/BeautyAndTheBeast Mrs. Potts and Chip]].
* In 'Markets', the German shepherd who runs the sausage stall has a son named "Gruber", after Hans Gruber of ''Film/DieHard'' fame.
* In 'The Creek', one of Bandit's warnings about the area is [[Recap/MysteryScienceTheater3000S05E06Eegah "Watch out for snakes!"]], which ''may'' be a nod to ''Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000''.
* 'The Pool':
** Bandit sprays Chili with a water gun modeled after a [[Franchise/{{Splatoon}} Splattershot]].
** When his dad jokes fall flat, Bandit adjusts an imaginary tie and remarks "Tough crowd", referencing the late comedian Creator/RodneyDangerfield.
* In 'Beach', a montage of family fun at the beach includes a brief shot of Chilli lying in the same pose as the iconic Australian photograph ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunbaker Sunbaker]]'', taken in 1937 by modernist photographer Max Dupain.
* In 'Early Baby', the game Rusty, Coco and Snickers are playing is very similar to the myth of Myth/SaintGeorge, with Snickers as a dragon that terrorizes a town and Rusty as a knight who goes to rescue the princess after she's chosen to be sacrificed to the dragon.
* Bluey's Chattermax toy in 'Hide and Seek' is clearly based on Toys/{{Furby}}.
** Bonus points in the game where it's an updated version that's ''more talkative'' – much like the Furby Baby.
* The ninja headbands that Bluey and Bingo wear in 'Chickenrat' are clearly inspired by those found in ''Manga/{{Naruto}}''.
* 'Featherwand' has Bandit utter [[Literature/TheLordOfTheRings "you shall not pass"]], and at one point has Pat perform a Naruto run.
* In 'Sleepytime', Bingo rides on a comet towards the Sun, which [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EexRIGdUwAEnfNW.jpg:large visual bares an eerie similarity]] to the Stargate sequence from ''Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey''.
* In 'Grandad', Bluey, Bingo and Grandad hide from Chilli under tree roots in the same way that the Hobbits hide from the Nazgûl in ''Film/TheFellowshipOfTheRing''.
* 'Neighbours': Bluey and Chilli briefly discuss the book ''Literature/TheVeryHungryCaterpillar''.
* In the [[https://twitter.com/OfficialBlueyTV/status/1239657750382219266 official season 2 press release]], you can spot dog-ified versions of [[WebVideo/{{Vinesauce}} Vinny and Joel]]. Vinny can also be seen holding what is clearly a UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch with the Vinesauce "V" logo on it.
** Another Vinesauce reference appears in 'Born Yesterday', where a plush version of the Vinesauce mushroom can be seen.
* In 'Hammerbarn', there are three boxes labeled [[VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses Edelgard, Dmitri, and Claude]]. Better yet, the box labeled "Dmitri" is missing an I [[spoiler:like Dimitri after ''Three Houses''' {{timeskip}}]], and the box labeled "Claude" is [[MemeticMutation upside down]].
* In 'Queens', Bandit, on his turn to be the Queen, swears an oath "[[ComicBook/{{Asterix}} by Toutatis]]".
* "Cat Squad", a ShowWithinAShow as seen in 'Library' and 'Turtleboy', is a nod to [[WesternAnimation/PawPatrol another popular cartoon that stars a bunch of dogs]].
* In 'Postman', Bluey and Bingo briefly discuss a character from a [[ShowWithinAShow TV show]] named [[WesternAnimation/PostmanPat "Postie Petunia"]].
* The "Moonlight Unicorn" toys seen in 'The Quiet Game' are [[MyLittlePhony parodies]] of the ''Franchise/MyLittlePony'' toys.
* In 'Octopus', Bluey's friend Chloe, a Dalmatian, lives in a house numbered [[Franchise/OneHundredAndOneDalmatians 101]].
* The kindy classmates Bingo mentions in 'Bin Night', Banjo and Felix, are a nod to famous poets [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banjo_Paterson Banjo Paterson]] and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felix_Dennis Felix Dennis]]. Bingo mentions Banjo wearing a hat, just as Paterson was known for doing.
* The titular 'Duck Cake' is an actual recipe in the Australian Women's Weekly Children's Birthday Cake book, a beloved cooking classic, in print for decades.
* 'See-Saw': Pom Pom's mom and Chili appear to be talking about ''Series/StrangerThings'', with Chili mentioning [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB2GYwbIAlM the Season Four trailer]].
* 'Perfect' has a game where Bandit is a ticket conductor and when Bluey does not have a ticket, he throws her out the window (read: onto a bean bag) and tells the others [[Film/IndianaJonesAndTheLastCrusade "no ticket"]].
* Chili's motivational "like a greyhound" speech to Bluey in 'Obstacle Course' references "what are your legs?" from ''Film/{{Gallipoli}}''.
* 'Magic': Bluey and Bingo use their "magic" to make Bandit and Pat do the famous routine from the end of ''Film/DirtyDancing'' complete with Pat catching Bandit.
* 'Unicorse':
** Unicorse says that his favorite food is "[[UsefulNotes/KentuckyFriedChicken chicken bucket]]".
** The titular character [[MinorInjuryOverreaction overreacting to being tapped on the shoulder]] seems to be an almost blatant homage to a scene in ''Film/{{Friday}}'', almost word-for-word: "My back! My neck! My back and my neck!"
* In 'Chest', Chilli sarcastically calls Bandit "Deep Blue", after the famed [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Blue_(chess_computer) chess-playing computer]].
* In 'Phones', Bluey shows Grandad her autographed picture of Music/TheWiggles.
* The game Bandit and Chilli play at the beginning of 'Pavlova' heavily resembles ''TabletopGame/{{Risk}}''.
** One of the ways Bluey mispronounces edamame is "Edna Da-me", likely a reference to Dame Edna, a character played by Australian comedian Creator/BarryHumphries .
* Midway through 'Ragdoll', when Bluey and Bingo push Bandit onto the Skateboard, he lands in the iconic ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' "Death Pose", with his tail hanging over instead of his other arm.
* 'Fairytale':
** Bandit and his brothers play an arcade game which is basically a canine version of ''VideoGame/DoubleDragon''.
** The (implied to be) young Chilli wears a [[WesternAnimation/SheRaPrincessOfPower She-Ra]] costume. Additionally, when Bandit proclaims "your mum wrote your name on everything" near the beginning of his flashback, an action figure that appears to be a canine version of [[WesternAnimation/HeMan|AndTheMastersOfTheUniverse1983 He-Man]] is shown, with said character also appearing on a pair of underpants in the same shot.
* In 'Musical Statues', Chilli's dancing during the first song resembles Creator/UmaThurman's famous dance moves from ''Film/PulpFiction''.
* 'Smoochy Kiss': Chilli resorts to disguising as a [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid cardboard box]] to [[ItMakesSenseInContext give her husband a kiss]].
* In 'Kids', there are several references to ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'', such as two freezers in the background being labeled "Derse" and "Prospit". This was later [[https://goodsniff.tumblr.com/post/688025843595902976/i-made-peace-years-ago-that-one-day-id-be confirmed by former art director Catriona Drummond]].
* 'Ghostbasket':
** To Franchise/ScoobyDoo; part of the chase around the house involves ScoobyDoobyDoors. A twist is given, however, as instead of the sequence playing out as one continuous shot, slight cuts are made to give the impression that the chase has been going on for some time.
** At the beginning of the episode, when "Hugo" (Bandit) shows "Monique" (Chilli) the house, she remarks that it seems small, to which "Hugo" replies "[[Series/DoctorWho it's bigger inside]]."
* 'The Sign':
** The final scene/credits uses a licensed indie pop song ("Lazarus Drug" by Megan Washington, the voice of Calypso) over an extremely emotional conclusion, similar to ''WesternAnimation/{{BoJack Horseman}}'s usage of licensed music during some of its most emotional scenes.
* In 'Surprise', Bluey's costume/toy has [[Anime/DragonBallZ Vegeta's scouter]], its toy blaster looks similar to the [[VideoGame/MegaMan Mega Buster]] and the armor is practically [[VideoGame/MegaManX X's Armor Parts]].
