13	* In "Star Comes to Earth", after Star and Marco's disastrous first meeting (culminating into Star wrecking Marco's bedroom with a black hole spell which makes him leave the house), Star meets Marco at the Stop n' Slurp. As she apologizes to him for making his day hell, they are attacked by Ludo and his henchmen. Just as Star is going to be attacked, Marco, unaware that she could fight, jumps in front of her and attacks Ludo's minion. She gets excited over Marco's fighting abilities, and then they proceed to kick asses together. After Star and Marco's victory over Ludo and his henchmen, Marco tells Star that both were awesome, and just when Star tells him she's leaving the Diaz household, he lets her stay and she responds with their first hug, with Marco smiling during the hug.
14	* Star willing to sacrifice her long-standing friendship with Pony Head to keep Marco safe from the latter's jealousy over Star calling Marco her best friend in "Party With a Pony", even more telling considering Star and Marco just met a few days earlier. At the end of the episode, after Marco and Pony Head make amends, Marco and Star are eating nachos together, while watching TV and looking at each other.
15	* "The Other Exchange Student" has Marco telling Star that she's his favorite foreign exchange student the Diazes have had at their household.
16	* In "Cheer Up, Star", while inside a warehouse, Marco tells Star she's the coolest girl he knows, making her smile. At the end, after defeating Ludo, Star hugs Marco, only to get stuck because of her syrup spell.
17	* "Starco" got a little more support in the episode "Mewberty", when the eponymous condition makes Star go boy-crazy, and she comes to the realization "Marco's a boy..." Near the end of the episode, Marco starts crying when he thought Star was gone forever, only to be relieved when she returned back to safe ground. After that, they share a hug.
18	* In "Sleep Spells", when Marco tells Star to act like someone close to her, she dresses up as him. At the end, while they're on the rooftop, Star tells Marco not to worry about how many times who saved who because they will have each other's backs.

Star tells the eponymous guidance counselor that Marco is just a friend, and Mr. Candle reports to [[PsychoExBoyfriend Tom]] that "[[PortmanteauCoupleName Starco]] is completely platonic". At the end, however, when Star and Marco hug, one of Tom's demon minions quips "Point: Marco."

35	* "Game of Flags" has Star bring Marco to her family reunion, and in the titular game (a competition between her mother's family and her father's) she decides that she and Marco will compete separately from both groups as if they were a third family in the game. While it surely didn't occur to Star, that would only make sense if Marco were her husband.
36	* "Sleepover" pretty much tops everything before it, teasing at least two ships in one episode. A magical game of "Truth or Punishment" forces Marco to confess about his crush on Jackie. Not only is she okay with this revelation, but she seems to be reevaluating how she feels about Marco as well. The game then accuses Star of lying when she claims that her crush is Oskar Greason. While Star manages to talk her way out of telling the whole truth, the episode ends with Star [[FullNameUltimatum shouting out Marco's name in frustration]] when he tries to go back to bed, causing the busted game to briefly spring back to life and blurt out "TRUTH! [[KilledMidSentence Star Butterfly has a crush on—]]" before being crushed by the garbage truck.
37	* "Gift of the Card" has Marco and Star sharing a final hug before the killer gift card catches up to them, with Marco saying that the hug will show whoever sees their charred skeletons that they were friends even in death. The imagery of Marco's line about people seeing their remains in each other's arms can call to mind two ancient skeletons in real life that were found embracing and came to be known as the [[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovers_of_Valdaro Valdaro Lovers]].

A shocked Star seemingly realizing why she's feeling jealous, too. Marco also gets upset when one of the rat guards takes it away after hearing this from Star, despite hating everything else about having to work with the entertainers.

It's worth mentioning that she was really happy to hear about his return from the battle against Meteora (before finding out the truth) and that she actually sounded disappointed when her actual boyfriend Tom showed up instead.

96	* "Butterfly Follies": Star jumps out of a window to retrieve the "Beach Day" photo of her and Marco that was first seen "Starcrushed", and it's revealed why it's so important to her. It's not merely the show teasing a "BeachEpisode" scenario that happened offscreen, it's a photo ''from the future'' that Father Time gave Star, and she treasures it because it shows that Star and Marco will have moments of pure joy again in the future, no matter how awkward things have gotten in the present.
97	* In "Ransomgram", Star wants to go to Hekapoo's dimension to see Marco's hot bod again. At the end, she even says he's never been hotter.
98	* Despite "Curse of the Blood Moon" ending on a rather bitter note due to the two losing their memories of the moment, Star and Marco's re-enactment of their dance under the Blood Moon is very romantic. Star rejects being controlled by a curse but she enjoys dancing with Marco and grabs his hand more tightly. And the dance ends right as a tear forms in Star's eye and she asks aloud, "What if it was never the Blood Moon?". Given the curse chooses that exact moment to break, it heavily implies that the Blood Moon did little more than give them a gentle nudge, which is also backed up by Tom's great-grandfather deeply regretting having his and his wife's souls severed from each other and losing their memory of when they first fell in love.
99	** The episode begins with them eating cereal together at midnight making it look a lot like they're on a date. They even tell each other not to wake the baby (Meteora, not theirs obviously).
100	* In "The Knight Shift", Star gives Marco a handmade "knight cape" with scenes of some of the things they've done together to celebrate his promotion.
