A [[UsefulNotes/{{Sweden}} Swedish]] humoristic improvisation GameShow satirizing political debate in which two teams (called "parties", in keeping with the politics theme) have battles of wit against each other. These teams are simply called "the red party" and "the blue party" and consist of two (or three since 2018) comedians who tend to get swapped out after each episode. At the end of each episode, the audience votes on whoever they thought were the funniest --[[HilarityEnsues in other words, hilarity simply MUST ensue.]] The series is an imported version of the British series ''Series/IfIRuledTheWorld'', which [[BritishBrevity ran for just two series]] in 1998-99; ''Parlamentet'' started in 1999 and continued since (with a hiatus between 2011 and 2014).

The GameShowHost (called "speaker", in keeping with the...yeah) has changed throughout the history of the show -- the current one is Anders S. Nilsson.

The different rounds have changed over the show, some being lost to the sands of time, but the four most notable are:

* '''Aktuella Händelser ("Present Events")''': Relevant news stories that the comedians have been told about beforehand and have been able to prepare jokes about.
* '''Tips Från Coachen ("Advice From The Coach")''': The host asks fairly normal questions to one or more of the comedians. However, instructions from a teleprompter flash past for the comedians, causing them to behave anything but normally, for instance "You are drunk" or "You are a spoiled brat". Arguably the most famous round.
* '''Ja & Nej ("Yes And No")''': In this round (usually introduced by a reading of the rules, and [[{{Metaphorgotten}} metaphors]]), the host asks typical yes-or-no questions to the competitors... who aren't allowed to answer "yes", "no", "what", or hesitate. [[ButtMonkey Johan Glans and Johan Ulvesson]] are infamously bad at this.
* '''Klart Man Hänger Med ("Of Course I Keep Up")''': This round starts out with the host introducing a fact and using puns or InsaneTrollLogic to link said fact to a specific theme. Then the host starts asking the parties normal questions about said theme. While the host does give out points for correct answers, the comedians usually respond with a [[EntertaininglyWrong spectacularly wrong]] answer or pun, [[RuleOfFunny because it's funnier that way]]... Although on rare occasions, the correct answer may still get the audience to laugh.

!!This show contains examples of:
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: Occasionally invoked during ''Tips från coachen'', as the teleprompter may instruct someone to speak in a language they don't actually know (such as Johan Reborg being asked to play an irritated Finn and launching into gibberish).
* BelligerentSexualTension: Invoked a few times, and not just during ''Tips Från Coachen'':
** [[https://youtu.be/DDEU_NU-pP8?t=96 Soran Ismail getting the prompt]] "You're horny and angry..." Which leads to him shouting at his opponent Pia to show him her breasts (she just winks at him in response) and yelling at Anders for his allegedly sexy Scanian accent.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfU9sAeAmsc One round of Duellen between Henrik Dorsin and Magnus Betnér]] about Tiger Woods' then recent cheating scandal starts with both sides insulting another before eventually devolving into Betnér accusing Dorsin of stalking him. Dorsin retaliates by confessing his love and asking "Please... Can't you be unfaithful/cheat with me?" before they hug awkwardly and leave the stage.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Especially common in ''Klart man hänger med'' due to the way questions are asked. For example:
**
--->'''Anders:''' What [thing] makes boiling eggs easier?\
'''Contestant:''' Eggs.
**
--->'''Speaker:''' What does one usually say about a year with a lot of rowan berries?\
'''Contestant:''' Gee, we sure have a lot of rowan berries this year!
* [[EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench Everything Sounds More Hardcore In Finnish]]:
-->'''André:''' [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpfhQy86bEA But what not many people know is that I used to be in a rock band.]] ''[audience chuckles]'' It's true -- in the late 80s, back home in Finland. We were called ''[throws up the horns, growls ominously, gets a crazy look in his eyes]'' RUOKAKERMA.\
'''Anders:''' ''[suppressing chuckles]'' Ruokakerm...\
'''André:''' Yeah. ''[repeats the pose]'' RUOKAKERMA.\
'''Anders:''' And, what-- what does that mean, in Swedish?\
'''André:''' "[[spoiler:Cream]]."
* FunnyForeigner:
** Quite literally with André Wickström, who happens to be a foreigner (specifically a Fenno-Swede) who's a fairly good comedian.
** To a lesser extent Soran Ismail, who has lived in Sweden for most of his life but was born in Iraq; sometimes he and/or the other contestants will refer to this background as part of their jokes.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: André Wickström tends to do this:
** In the same episode where André talks about his former hardrock band, he is given the prompt "get angry in a foreign language" and promptly launches into very poor German.
** When given the prompt "[[https://youtu.be/cLTPaW9u5Ww?t=96 You are a Finnish rally racer...]]" he instead ends up telling most of his story (about his friend Timo who got an "ass transplant") in English with a heavy Finnish accent, as a reference to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqQhQSbe6fw this infamous clip]].
* GuyOnGuyIsHot: Occasionally played for laughs: there are a lot of situations on the show where a kiss would be the best punchline, and it just so happens that most of the comedians are male. The audience tends to squee pretty loudly when this happens, for example:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zuhEfnGHa8 Johan Glans getting the prompt "Now or never...",]] leading to him awkwardly flirting with and eventually throwing himself at André Wickström. The same episode also ends with the host Anders deliberately taking some things Fredrik Reinfeldt said in a then-recent interview out of context to imply something happened between him and Jan Björklund.
** Soran Ismail getting the prompt "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDEU_NU-pP8 Confess your love for Magnus [Betnér]...]]"
* ItMakesSenseInContext: The teleprompter text scrolling past the screen quite quickly (and instructions often being followed for several minutes) has led many a confused Swede to tune in to things like a comedian acting like a sceptical junkie or using their shoes as ventriloquist dolls.
* ShoutOut: [[https://youtu.be/NAIHXnq_IkY?t=797 When Josephine Bornebusch gets the prompt]] "you are a shy old lady at an audition for ''[[Series/AmericanIdol Idol]]''", her audition turns out to involve [[VideoGame/ParappaTheRapper "Kick, punch, it's all in the mind!"]]
* ThatCameOutWrong: Invoked by André Wickström, while boasting about his sex-texts. (ItMakesSenseInContext. But not much.)
-->'''André:''' Oooh, heh heh heh... "Thanks for yesterday night, it felt good"... Well, ''[typing]'' "You're welcome"! ... Oh, and look at this one... "Wish you were home"! ... No, wait, that was from my mother...
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Johan Glans for one episode of season 12 in which he dressed "like [his] grandmother" (in response to the network receiving criticism for not featuring enough women in its shows).
