5	''Eat Bulaga!''[[note]]The name is a play on the tag-game playground expression "It! Bulaga!", "bulaga" meaning "peekaboo". Roughly translated into English, ''Eat Bulaga!'' would be ''Lunchtime Surprise!''[[/note]] is a Filipino variety show currently broadcast on [=TV5=]. It began in 1979 on RPN-9 and transferred to Creator/{{ABSCBN}} in 1989 and then Creator/{{GMA\|Network}} in 1995 amid ABS-CBN's attempt to acquire Eat Bulaga's rights, and has since aired over 10,000 episodes; it has the highest episode count for any Filipino TV show.

7	The series is hosted by mainstays referred to as "Dabarkads"[[note]]A corruption of the Tagalog term "barkada", meaning a band of friends. 11	On May 31, 2023, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, the final original hosts, announced that they were leaving ''Eat Bulaga!'' following a highly-publicised dispute between Tito, Vic and Joey and TAPE heads (pun not intended) Romeo Jalosjos and his son Bullet, with the rest of the "Legit Dabarkads" resigning as well. Reruns of previous episodes featuring TVJ and the original casts were aired from May 31 to June 3, 2023 before the show's resumed production was teased on Sunday, June 4, 2023, and subsequently returning to original programming with new hosts (without TVJ) on June 5. In July 1, 2023, the original cast moved to Creator/{{TV5}} where they [[StartMyOwn launched a new show]] simply known as ''E.A.T.'', which served as a placeholder title until a decision was made on December 6, 2023 when the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL) ruled in favor of TVJ's camp over the ownership of the brand, effectively legitimizing TVJ's claim over the ''Bulaga'' trademarks. 13	In January 2024, TAPE, Inc. renamed their iteration of ''Bulaga'' to ''Tahanang Pinakamasaya'' (transl. ''Happiest Home'') per a court ruling ordering them to cease their use of the ''Bulaga'' trademarks; TVJ then reverted their show's name to ''Eat Bulaga'', now stylised as ''EAT... BULAGA!''. This also coincided with the show's return to RPN via weekend simulcast after 35 years.[[note]]RPN 9 aired as [[UsefulNotes/NewsNetworks CNN Philippines]] until January 31, 2024, a local franchise of CNN, though as it stands, their weekend airing of ''Bulaga'' as well as select games from the Philippine Basketball Association might bring up some questions about NetworkDecay considering CNN being supposedly a ''news'' channel; this would become a non-issue when it was announced that CNN Philippines is winding down its operations due to low ratings.
