* ColorMotif: Each character has a signature colour, wardrobe, outfits
** Season 1
*** Aniq: Blue, protagonist of both seasons, AudienceSurrogate, nerdy, calm
*** Brett: Black, tinted blue, thinks he's the hero when in fact he's a hyper-aggressive manchild who needs to take responsibility, edgy but not really
*** Chelsea: Pink, specifically a bright shade that faded out over time,

Hers used to be a bright Pink, faded-out pink, bright future as the class/student body president, wash-out alcoholic mess
*** Indigo: Black, alternative, black-and-white
*** The Jennifers: Orange and Yellow, similar colours, TheDividual
*** Ned: Salmon which is not normally a colour that first comes into mind. Fittingly, Ned is one of the few people who never gave a testimony and is OutOfFocus as a result.
*** Walt: Beige, doesn't stand out
*** Xavier: Purple, rich and famous, pompous
*** Yasper: Green representing his massive ego and enviousness. Back in high school, it used to be a secondary colour before his jealousy for Xavier's fame consumed him. His jacket also has a multi-coloured lining, highlighting Yasper's untapped potential (Given he owns a successful AV tech company, is musically gifted in non-ska related singing and dancing and is very skillful in gymnastics) but it gets overridden by his overwhelming desire to become famous.
*** Zoe: Red, repressed temperamental side
** Season 2
*** Edgar: Black and Green (Secondary, Roxana, always perched on his shoulders)
*** Feng: Purple, The King of Bing, money issues, contrasts by his wife Vivian who wears yellow
*** Grace: White and Pink, innocence, love, being the bride, her pastel colours contrast with Edgar's darker colours (OppositesAttract) but complement Hannah's warmer colours (BirdsOfAFeather)
*** Hannah: Red, Orange and Yellow, She's a kind, blithe soul, provides warmth, her palette compliments Grace's pastel colours instead of contrasting like Edgar, better match for Grace than her brother, the only other person to have more than one predominant colour
*** Isabel: Royal Blue, regel/blue blood elegance, prideful, cold, paranoid, good intentions, seemingly like an obnoxious rich mother-in-law, muter but vibrant blue in her testimony, issues are in light
*** Sebastian: Green, money
*** Travis: Grey, unwanted, sees things black and white
*** Ulysses: Brown, down-to-earth, world-traveler
*** Vivian: Yellow, motherly love

!!!Deconstructor Fleet
* JokeWeapon:
** Naofumi's Shield is constantly disregarded as useless and weak in a world that emphasizes specializing in personal power above all else as your primary skill. Except that Naofumi's skill as the Shield Hero is all about protecting others from forces they cannot endure by themselves. The ability to protect, support and reinforce your allies is invaluable, and multiple antagonists are often a GlassCannon when they can't just steamroll everything in their path with overwhelming power. The power of a good defense supplemented with a solid offense is essential, and he is a critical advantage as a Tank in a world filled with Damagers... cause others, mainly the royalty and the heroes, to treat him as a joke as well
** one unfortunately chosen to bear the shield, a weapon that even the people that summoned them snub their noses at. He quickly learns why: the shield has no offensive power whatsoever, meaning he struggles to even kill the weakest enemies, meaning that he RPGMechanicsVerse can't earn any XP to level up, and even when he does level up, it still only increases his defense and just makes the next level even harder to achieve.

* HeroWithBadPublicity: Naofumi gets hit with this courtesy of Malty and her betrayal. This causes problems, not just for him since everyone (initially) sees him as an evil monster and treats him accordingly, but for the country as a whole since all four heroes are needed to save the country despite what the capital and church would insistently have you believe, and alienating the one hero whose actually competent at his job would have ultimately prompted him to bail for another country.
** his forced public portrayal as one because of his negative reputation, general demeanor, attire, and willingness to use underhanded tactics like having slaves fight for him. But most of this is only because of the Capital and the Three Heroes Church's collective foul play, as Naofumi is an otherwise decent person who only became this way due to unfair circumstances being forced on him. It doesn't help that they, as well as the other Heroes (who blindly believe every bad thing they hear about him) use him as TheScapegoat for everything wrong short of the Waves themselves, end up causing even more problems themselves, and subsequently blame those on him too. It's not until Queen Mirelia is able to step in and put a stop to this directly that Naofumi finally gets the positive reputation he deserves.

* IRejectYourReality: All three heroes are guilty of this, but while Ren is the "chuuni loner" type who thinks he can do things on his own without needing teammates, the other two both take the cake by far. Motoyasu is convinced he's TheCassanova and savior of all women while Itsuki sees himself as the praiseworthy, Robin Hood-esque HumbleHero, and while reality itself begs to differ, they're adamant to a downright insane degree that they're right despite being Proven wrong. Because they end up blatantly ignoring all the facts and (initially) refuse to change, they just come off as self-righteous idiots who get in the way of actual heroes like Naofumi, who they antagonize as a cowardly cheat and an evil monster no matter how many times he's either proven his competence and been flat-out right. As you've probably seen already throughout this trope page, their behavior doesn't change until the Spirit Turtle incident, where they have no choice but to confront their own toxic behavior after the end result was countless lives being destroyed and being despised by everybody on the continent.

* In Naofumi's case, it would be an understatement to say that ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne since, due to Melromarc's political stance against demi-humans, he was designated to be scapegoated, demonized, and eventually killed off simply for being the bearer of the Legendary Shield that the demi-humans worshipped so fervently. makes it very clear throughout the first part of the series that he utterly despises the crap hand he was dealt along with the people who callously left him with less than nothing while still fully expecting him to contribute to stopping the waves, only being motivated by the prospect of going home, and later the safety of his traveling companions as he even winds up cleaning up the messes of the other heroes. They all insult, belittle, mock, and continue to hinder him all the way, have the audacity to hurl petty spite at him when he refuses to stand for any of it, and by the time they're finally disposed of so he can finally do his job properly, Naofumi needed a damn good reason to stay in the very country he was summoned to.

* PrettyFreeloader: Malty takes advantage of Motyasu favoring
** Because Motoyasu is only concerned with looking good in front of the ladies (with the general results being mixed due to his sheer, unbound stupidity), his party is stocked with them. Not only does this leave him with a serious disadvantage in fights since his team has zero experience in combat against those with actual skill on top of being too lazy to muster up any actual drive to learn to, but when things get tough, they simply ditch him and leave him for dead. also realise they have to actually pull their weight
** To add insult to injury, because of this hindering mentality early on, he sees Naofumi's capable party, also composed of an otherwise all-girl team that actually pulls their weight, and hurls accusation-after-accusation of him being an evil, cowardly monster who "forces" them to fight for him, never mind that they do so of their free will (something they state repeatedly but he winds up ignoring) or that Naofumi's Crippling Overspecializion means that he really does need someone to fight for him. As a result, his "chivalrous" behavior just comes off as an annoying borderline StayInTheKitchen mentality and infuriates everybody who gets subject to it.

!!!Deconstructed Character Archetype
* LegacyCharacter: Legendary/Cardinal Heroes, saviors, not all heroes are like their descendants, do no wrong, prejudice/wrong assumptions to the present hero, Naofumi as evil, the world would most likely be doomed if Naofumi hadn't work hard to get where he is today and the public wisening up to who the Heroes truly are

* StockLightNovelHero:
** When harshly mistreating and belittling the hero into essentially the role of TheScapegoat but simultaneously still forcing them to save their world, they don't stay that way as Naofumi would work hard to prove them all wrong at the cost of going down a darker path.
** dark revenge hero, decides to play up his role just so no one will take him seriously otherwise... DeconReconSwitch / DoubleSubversion, Naofumi slowly starts learning more useful abilities and gaining a party of female characters that could technically be considered a "harem", PowerFantasy
*** The only difference is he's the only one of the four that isn't overly confident and has no prior knowledge of video games as the world runs on RPG mechanics, GodlikeGamer, and thus, he is continually disrespected at every turn
** Ren - AloofAlly
*** a heroic but overall stoic badass who prefers to let his actions speak over words, and is bad at working with other people because nobody can tell what he's planning or thinking, resulting in him being an IneffectualLoner at the core
** Motoyasu - IdiotHero, HaremSeeker
*** His party is all filled with girls, making him easy prey for the manipulations of Malty because he'll always fall for a pretty face, and doesn't realize that some of the members of his "harem" are PrettyFreeloaders who deep down can't stand him.
** Itsuki - intentionally fashioned himself as a HumbleHero and virtuous justice fighter so he can be praised as the idealistic
*** intentionally plays himself as the IdealHero to get praise and is actually more arrogant than he lets on, not being above intentionally letting others fall into danger so he can step in and save them at the last second
*** With his so-called generosity and humility, Itsuki's self-righteous and egotistical behavior along with his NeverMyFault attitude would naturally piss off everyone around him before long. As shown in the Cala Mira arc, he's not only above kill-stealing from others and hogging all the monster spots, but actively refuses to even acknowledge that what he's doing is wrong despite pissing off a lot of other adventurers in the process and Cala Mira explicitly setting up rules for any visiting adventurers.

* Parody: ObjectShows, which originated from loosely parodying the RealityTV competition aspect of WesternAnimation/TotalDrama which itself parodies Series/Survivor, have a sub-genre called "Joke Shows" that pokes fun at overuse cliches in such shows, have Joke Characters, nonsensical challenges, StylisticSuck In other words, it's a parody of a parody of a parody.

** WebAnimation/VillageOfObjects: Webcomic/VoidOfLosers focuses on the debut cast
* Teleportation: This is one of the three cardinal powers for s HostsThe other two being reviving the dead and creating or summoning things that's never really explained so they have a nifty way of transporting themselves and others to challenge locations, the elimination area or even universes with various ways on doing so:
** WebAnimation/BattleForCircle: Host Circle
** WebAnimation/BattleForDreamIsland: Four, X and Two, aliens, suddenly appear without warning

* TooQuirkyToLose: In ObjectShows, Cloudcuckoolanders tend to go really far in the game, entertaining PluckyComicRelief... double-edged sword as these
** Lightbulb more grounded has a fair share of quirks, all the way to the final four
** Rocky from WebAnimation/BattleForDreamIsland
** Deconstructed with Taco from WebAnimation/InanimateInsanity. 397** WebAnimation/ObjectConnects: Lantern, like the example above, exploits the trope so he can fly under the radar and sabotage the competition with his schemes. The only problem is that there's another contestant who genuinely has the same problems he's faking

* Billy almost had his head crushed after he fell off his bicycle (due to Carter's reckless driving) and another car nearly ran him over.
* Billy has a habit of being clumsy and falling to the ground, usually because of Carter. ...the action is similar to one after his decapitation.

* In the opening credits, there appears to be a puppet hanging on a string, and the shadow looks like a glass pane falling on someone.
* Kimberly sees pigeons flying towards her before heading to the dentist's office, even though not a pigeon was in sight. Also, she saw it through a reflection in a glass window.

* In Kimberly's room, she owns a mask
** The opening credits have a mask with black ink on its face like it was burned, implicating Clear's death which shows how her skin was burnt.

* Kimberly's future visions applied to her not Isabella, "I could practically taste the water"

* The opening credits also preclude the gory and unseemly final deaths of the characters using the carnival's various signs, texts, and art pieces.
* The photographs Wendy takes of the various characters show the way that they'll end up dying.
* The photos of Julie, Kevin and Wendy, in addition to containing clues about their intervened deaths, also contain clues about their eventual deaths on the subway. Julie's photo has an oval-shaped light fixture next to her head that resembles the flying wheel that kills her, the overexposure in Kevin's photo resembles the flashing subway tunnel lights, and the blurred-out face of Jason in Wendy's photo resembles the faces of passengers on the subway platform, as well as her [=McKinley=] grad shirt foreshadowing her being hit by a train bound for [=McKinley=].

* The recurring song in the movie is "Turn Around, Look At Me" by The Vogues. The song comes randomly on the radio in Kelvin then Wendy's car and the subway musician starts singing it before alighting at the end.

* Wendy's photo of Ashley and Ashlyn is overexposed, making it look like they're on fire. Also, the two's expressions almost look as if the two are screaming.
* After Ashley wins at the water gun booth, her prize is an inflatable palm tree, which represents the potted palm that knocked over the shelf, that locks the tanning beds, trapping Ashley and Ashlyn.
* The water gun booth can be seen as foreshadowing for the slushie (liquid) that causes the bed's VAC to malfunction.
* The word "ash" is in both their name.
* Before they could even go to the tanning room, the camera shows a canister containing an alcoholic (flammable) liquid. Causing a fire in the beds.
* In the opening sequence, there are two women, known as The Electric Sisters, who were electrocuted in their electric chairs, their skins were overexposed.
* When Ashley's phone rings it plays a horror tune of The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976).
* On one of the tanning beds, there is a sign that says "This bed has been cleaned and is ready for tanning. Are YOU?"
* The song Love Rollercoaster by The Ohio Players is the subject of a very popular urban legend, where the screams of the model who posed for the band's Honey album cover was heard in the song as she was being stabbed by the studio's owner for threatening to file a wrongful injury lawsuit against them. This legend is false, and while the scream was indeed faintly heard during part of the song, it was in fact caused by microphone feedback.
* The name of the salon is "Phoenix Tanning Salon". According to mythology, Phoenixes are associated with fire, and arise from their own ashes after death. Quite fitting, considering the girls' first names.
* Frankie tells both girls that they are "smokin' hot".
* Before getting into the tanning bed, Ashlyn turns up the heating in the room, stating that "a few degrees won't hurt." which in fact was the cause of each of their deaths.
* When Ashley's phone rings it plays a horror tune of The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976).
* If you look at the picture closely at Ashlyn, her head is laying on the palm tree, it represents the wooden plank that knocks her out in a deleted scene.

* Kevin takes a picture under Stacy's skirt, with Frankie in the background, showing a fan behind Frankie's head foreshadowing his death. Kevin taking a picture under Stacy's skirt is a form of sexual harassment similar to Frankie recording Ashley and Ashlyn.
* In the photo, Frankie is flipping off the camera, whereas he flips off Wendy and Kevin right before his death.
* The song "Turn Around, Look At Me" plays in Kevin's truck before the accident.
* The word CONTROL on the message board at the restaurant disappears, indicating Wendy has no control over Frankie's death, and the out-of-control truck that causes his death.
* In the opening credits, a ferris wheel is shown having a lighting effect in the shape of a fan.
* At the drive-thru beside Frankie's car, a yellow flower says CURLY FRIES. It looks like the fan that killed Frankie and the color is the same as his car.
* In the opening scene there's a picture of a circus freak biting down on a saw.

* When Lewis plays the hammer game at the Carnival, he hits the bell with so much force that it knocks away the wooden figure's head.
* Wendy took Lewis' picture the moment he sent the weight of the hammer game upwards. However, when she looks at the photo, the blurry weight seems to be coming downwards towards Lewis' head.
* The way Lewis is hunched over, his head is obscured from view, as if he were headless.
* A cardboard sultan was also shown in the picture. Lewis's football team was named "The Sultans". The aforementioned sultan wields a pair of swords identical to the ones on display in the gym.
* The sign with the swords on it has the line "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger".
* The song "Killing Time" plays on the radio at the gym.
* At the opening scene, a caricature of a sword-eater can be seen.
* Lewis continuously repeats "That is 3, number 3, number 3..." during the hammer game. If one is to consider Ashley and Ashlyn's death scenes as a single one, Lewis would have the third death scene in the movie.
* At the Carnival, Lewis says "I JUST WIN!" when he scores at the hammer game. He says the same line seconds before the weights crush his head.
* Lewis is also portrayed as a trash-talker throughout the movie, constantly swearing and insulting others, including Death itself before he dies. His brutal way of dying could be interpreted as Death's way of silencing Lewis once and for all, both as a lesson and as a response to his insult.
* At Ashlyn and Ashley's funeral Lewis mentions to Kevin how boring their funeral was. Kevin witnessed Lewis die.

[[AC:Ian [=McKinley=]]]
* The sign, the banners and the fence posts have something to do with him:
** All of them are shaped as irregular pentagons, a geometrical shape with five points and sides. Ian was meant to be the fifth survivor to die, but said death was intervened.
** The longer point of all these objects is pointing down, towards Ian.
** The giant sign that crushed Ian was pointing down at him, similar to the banners from Wendy's photo and the fence posts at the store.
** Additionally, just before Ian was crushed, he looks up at the sign the same way he did when the fence posts nearly impaled him.
* At the aftermath of the disaster, Ian is seen complaining to Erin about his last name also being the town's name ([=McKinley=], Pennsylvania), writing "Ian" over the school's name, which is also [=McKinley=]. Coincidentally, the sign that crushes him also has "[=McKinley=]" written on it, only this time, Ian is below his own name.
* As Ian stalks Wendy to the Tricentennial, her car radio immediately starts playing "Turn Around, Look at Me" to show her she's being followed.
* In his picture, Ian recoiled at the camera's flash, just like Kevin did in his own picture. Both their deaths in real life involved fireworks blasting at them at point-blank range.
* In his picture, Ian accidentally points the toy gun towards Erin's face, foreshadowing her own death by a nail gun.
* In the picture, the word "SKILL" is shown but the letter "S" is obscured. So, it shows the word "KILL".
* The poster that shows "KILL" looks like made of wood. Hinting the planks that almost killed Ian.
* During the Tricentennial, Ian wearing a black shirt with an "X" marks the spot foreshadowing that it was going to be crushed.

* In the opening credits, a woman has been painted onto a banner with nails coming out of her nose and ears.
* In the photo, Ian recoils from the flash while holding the toy gun, aiming it at Erin's face while Erin flipped off the camera.
* The double meaning of the word "nail" plays a part in Erin's death:
** She mocks Wendy's theory by saying that she would "overdose on nail polish".
** Said nail polish can also be seen in the photo, as Erin shows her middle finger to the camera with her nail visible.
** Surprisingly and coincidentally, 'Kill' (Kil), the word in Erin's photo, is the hindi word for nail.
* Erin is seen picking up nails with a magnet while doing her work. Ian makes reference to Princess Diana's death and Paris when Erin picks up the nails.
* Also in the photograph, the letter "S" in the small flags saying "SKILL" is obscured, leaving the word "KILL".
* The way Erin held up her hand to her face when the nails penetrated her head is the same as the way she held her hand up in the photo while covering her face from the flash.
* The nail gun that killed Erin was the same gun Ian used not long before she died.
* In the opening credits, a female mannequin with nails through her skull is shown.
* Erin referred to the customers as pinheads.
* Ian's nickname to Erin is "Pip", a possible onomatopoeia to the nail gun shooting her skull.
* In her alternate death, pigeons scare her and she slips into the nail gun. Before she died she threw away the pigeon that was also killed by a nail gun.

* In Julie's photo, she flips off Wendy before taking a picture, and there's a carousel horse in the background. ...blur motion, luckily Kelvin managed to intervene
* In the photo there is also a circle, that looks like a wheel about to hit her head.
* In the opening scene a merry-go-round's reflection is spinning out of control. This implies that her death was caused by something round spinning out of control.
* There is a horse on Julie's charm bracelet, implicating the horse at the tricentennial that nearly killed her.
* Just like at the tricentennial, Kevin warns Julie and she dies because she doesn't listen to his warning.
* In Wendy's photo, there seems to be a white aura around her neck implying how she would have died.

* The opening credits depict an image of a sword swallower, making the same jerking head movement as Perry does during her death.
* There are details in the photo Wendy took of her, Julie and Amanda which foreshadows her fate:
** An American flag can be seen behind Perry in the background
** A horse is seen on a merry-go-round in the background. It looks like the horse that caused Perry's death and nearly killed Julie.
** The horse has a pole through it, foreshadowing Perry's fate.

* In the photos, it shows one when Wendy flashed the camera at Kevin's face, looking like a firework burned face. However, Wendy intervened with this death. The picture also looks like he is being squished or hit on a wall.
* Had Wendy not intervened, Kevin would have had his face burned by a gas grill exploding into it which was also similar to his photograph.
* In one scene Kevin checks with Wendy if it's safe for him to drive, and if she has any photos of him "pressed against the windscreen" - when he dies on the train he is pressed against the window.
* Kevin's picture looks like his face is pressed against a window. When he is against the train window, his facial expression is similar to the one in his photo.
* Wendy hit her head and cracked a window like Kevin did hinting at his death.

* In her premonition, Wendy died by falling on the roller coaster tracks. Her actual death involves getting run over on the train tracks.
* In Wendy's photo, Jason's face was blurred. On the train, the people sped past Wendy, and all of their faces were blurry.
* Wendy saw signs advertising places where the survivors died in; the drive-through restaurant (Frankie), the Build It hardware store (Erin), the tanning salon (Ashley and Ashlyn) as well as stating "There is no escaping DEATH and taxes".
* Jason said "I'll meet you at the end." before boarding the coaster and dying, presumably foreshadowing her death at the end of the movie and her reunion with him.
* When Wendy and Kevin went to the gym, and Wendy was looking around, Kevin and Lewis talked about the signs in the background. Kevin said something about two sisters who were killed when going to visit each other. Wendy and Julie talked about visiting each other, and they both died on the train.

* Throughout the movie, Nick gets visions after the initial premonition involving various objects, locations and events flying towards the screen ...unfolds

* Nick sees a scratched-out sign on the table saying "IT'S COMING", and beneath it says "IT'S HERE", which can also be seen in every one of Nick's premonitions briefly.
** As Nick was having a vision of Carter's death, as the hook caught on fire and exploded, the words "IT'S HERE" can be seen emblazoned in red among the flames.

* Nadia's death was identical to the way she died in the main character's vision, as she died from being decapitated by a flying tire in both Nick's premonition and in real life.

* her face had been disfigured in her death and Nick's vision.
* Samantha said that her children aren't going to leave her sight until she ships them off to college. However, Death had something else in mind which involved blinding her right eye.
* Dee Dee aims her scissors at Samantha's right eye, foreshadowing her death.
* An EXACTO knife falls onto Nick and Lori's picture. The knife aims at Lori's right eye, foreshadowing Samantha's death.
* The hairdressing scene is alluded to in the opening sequence.

* Before nearly being hit by the van, Andy says "If I was meant to die, it would've happened by now." FiveSecondForeshadowing
* In the garage where Andy worked, you can see a sign saying "DANGER" with two CO2 tanks below and below it, you can see two CO2 tanks
* A diagonal wire fence is in front of Andy and the spectators at the speedway.
* Before Nick and Lori arrive, Andy is almost killed twice by the car he is repairing, when suddenly it is released when Lori backs into it, the car almost crushes him, minutes later, this same car is disconnected and tries to crashes Andy to the fence, but the chain stops.
* The van that almost crushed Andy had "Brand X" written on it. Andy's torso resembled an X when it's diced.
** "Brand X" also appeared on Car 6, which was one of the main instigators of the crash that should have killed Andy.

* While packing for a trip to Amsterdam, Nick accidentally knocks a book on the floor. The book opens to a page which has a picture of a hand sticking out of a body of water.
* The aforementioned image causes Nick to have a vision of a death involving a tub of water, faucets, a soaked ceiling and blood splattering on a wall.

* In the car wash scene where Janet was supposed to die, she wore a pink shirt with the number 45 on the back of it, which is the same number of the car that started the crash at the racetrack.
* Before entering the theater, Janet was annoyed by the toy seller who controlled the helicopter as the helicopter blew her hairs, the position she was later got hit in the theater (premonition), and notice the platform which crushed Lori and her in the alternate ending being lifted above the ceiling window of the mall. In amazement, Janet said "Somebody could get killed with that."
* Janet's outburst in the theater was "Don't you see? This is where I was supposed to be in the first place, not that stupid race. I was meant to see this movie!" as it was the movie's explosion immediately after that caused her death, she was right.
* During what would have been her death at the car wash she is wearing a shirt with a "5". She was meant to be the 5th to die, at the same time as Hunt.
* Janet dies similar to how she dies in the premonition; she is crushed.

* Janet dropped a coin into a sewer grate, just as Hunt would drop his lucky coin in the pool a few seconds later.
* Right after losing his lucky coin, Hunt dives in the pool, hinting that he died of bad luck.
* When at the pool, Hunt's tattoo is visible, and it's a cross.
* After they survived the accident, Hunt said if they were really going to die, he would want to get laid before dying. This becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, as the last thing he did before dying was have sex.
* Nick asked Hunt if "would it kill you to be sensitive."
* While Nick was driving to save Hunt, he sees a sign that said "Clear Rivers Water".
* After the accident, Nick catches Hunt's coin and puts it down in front of him. The coin was on tails, representing the side where Hunt's organs got extracted from him.

* George comically revealed to Nick and Lori that he tried to kill himself several times but it didn't work, because it wasn't his time yet.
* George talked to Nick about déjà vu and his dead wife just seconds before he dies. Ironically, George is run over like Terry Chaney, giving a déjà vu reference to the first film. less than FiveSecondForeshadowing
* George is the 7th survivor to die. At the memorial, a news van is seen behind George with the number 7.
* At the speedway before the accident, George watches the race through the grind fence. Interestingly enough, as George is in the background, the racers rush past by in the foreground, making it seem like they are running over George, just as he was meant to have died.

* While shopping with Janet at the mall, Lori's foot is continuously bumped by a toy car. The car is a model of Car 6 at the speedway. Moreover, the car tells Lori that her newly bought shoes will get caught in the escalator. Plus, in Nick's premonition of the Tagert Theatres explosions, this was the same foot that was caught in the escalator.

* After Samantha dies, the driver of the lawnmower loses a tooth. the force of the impact, knocked out almost all his teeth out
* After Hunt's death, Nick spills a cup of coffee on a newspaper in his house. The newspaper had an article in it mentioning three teenagers who were killed in a store when an out-of-control car crashed through a storefront window where the three teenagers were at.
* Just before his, Lori's and Janet's death, Nick sees a photo of the pool where Hunt died, a woman reading about the movie Love Lays Dying in a magazine and the TV is turned onto a speedway racing match.
* While in the shop, the Homeless man approaches Nick, thanking him for saving the people in the mall. Nick says that "He was just in the right place, at the right time." in which the Homeless man tells him "that is all it takes..."

* Another subtle hint: "I see dead people". The Sixth Sense had come out in theaters barely a year prior to the events of the fifth Final Destination movie. Nowadays, that joke has been done to death.
* It's also smart how they hide it on at least one occasion. Before September 2001, while a possible cause for tragedy, terrorism could not have been the go-to explanation for police forces to try to comprehend such events. Similarly, it's the only movie not to make any reference to Flight 180 when people investigate the situation.
* The song "Dust in the Wind" is heard on the plane and on the bus on North Bay Bridge.
* In the opening credits of the film Flight 180 explodes. A metal bar shaped like a "V" crashes through the screen...
* One of the key plot points is that Sam wants to take a restaurant internship in Paris. This is a blatant clue that the movie will include a flight to France.
* Furthermore, the restaurant where Sam's internship was to take place is the same one that Alex, Clear, and Carter go to in Paris at the end of the first film.
* Some more subtle hints that the film is a StealthPrequel include a series of references in the opening scene that place the movie firmly in the late 1990s or very early '00s, such as the comparison of Olivia to Lisa Loeb, the music Molly is listening to in her car on the way in, and the fact that not only are the vehicles (and other technology) about a decade old, but the style of New York license plates on the cars was discontinued in 2001.
* When Block is interrogating the survivors after the bridge collapse, he asks Peter if Sam exhibited "extremist" sympathies — a word that wouldn't have been commonly used in 2011 (when Block would've more bluntly asked if Sam had terrorist sympathies; Peter even has to ask "you mean, like a terrorist?"), but was a common euphemism in the '90s for Right Wing Militia Fanatics.

* During her practice, right when she moves to the bars, her coach tells her to "stay loose".
* Both in the premonition and afterwards, Candice falls to her death with her spine being damaged. In the premonition, she falls and is impaled through the spine. In her practice, she falls on the ground, breaking her spine.
* When Candice felt a gust of wind blowing by, a girl was using the balance beams in the background. If you look closely, it looks like the girl is going to hit Candice's neck.
* Candice's last words "They should have it fixed by now." connects to Death's plan, as Death was indeed about to fix its mistake of her survival.
* In the song "Dust in the Wind", the same song, Sam heard in the bridge. In Candice's death, the chalk dust blows in the wind and killed her.

* While Sam, Molly and Olivia were talking, there is a toy car in Sam's cubicle. When her eye pops out, it was run over by another car.
* During Olivia's death, A teddy bear replicates the way she die:
** When Olivia dropped down the teddy bear, it fell off the table in a similar fashion as to how she fell off the building.
** When she squeezed the teddy bear tight, it's left eye popped out in a similar fashion to hers.
** Olivia stepping on the removed eye of the teddy bear foreshadows the car running over her own dislodged eye.
As the machine starts up during her surgery session, the noise represents a faint scream.
In Sam's premonition, Olivia loses her glasses before she dies.
* Both in the premonition (bridge collapse) and real death of her, she fell off and impacted with a car. But in premonition, a car fell on her. In real death of her, she fell on a car.

* The wrench flew very close to Nathan's head; any closer and it would have been Nathan killed by it. The fact that it killed Dennis instead lends credence to the theory pertaining to the nature of being skipped from Death's list.
* There are two clues of some objects that angles across Dennis' eyes and forehead where the wrench penetrates his head later on just like the clue on Billy Hitchcock's death:
** A truck passes Dennis that the frame it is holding angles across his eyes and forehead, after Sam's premonition.
** During the memorial, the monument behind him is lined at his eyes.

* Candice, Peter's girlfriend, was impaled through the back by her spine during Sam's premonition.
* Before the North Bay bridge collapse, a fuel tank falls, collides with the bridge pillar base and sinks in the water. Peter died similarly in Sam's premonition, he falls, collides with the pillar base, and finally falls into the water.

* During his shift before his date with Molly, Sam gets worried about his own death and observed his surroundings in the kitchen. Two of the things he saw involved fire.
* When Peter turns on all of the stoves inside Le Cafe Miro 81, the fire on the stoves rises uncontrollably and abnormally. ...Flight 180
