9	** Twilight's [[AlternateSelf human counterpart]] from ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls Equestria Girls]]'' is often portrayed as MadScientist, and performing experiments on the Twilight from Equestria is a frequent sub-theme. This was particularly common between ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsRainbowRocks Rainbow Rocks]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsFriendshipGames Friendship Games]]'', as she was introduced in TheStinger to the former but didn't get much characterization until the latter.
10	* Twilight Sparkle received numerous fanworks bashing her over her behavior in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E6NoSecondPrances No Second Prances]]", blaming her for breaking Starlight and Trixie's friendship, questioning her morality, or calling her a hypocritical idiot for [[AesopAmnesia forgetting an aesop]] to outright demonization as a KnightTemplar. These overlook Trixie [[NotHelpingYourCase was acting like]] her HeelFaceTurn hadn't stuck ([[TookALevelInKindness unlike Starlight]]) and gloated they befriended Starlight just to one-up Twilight, thus was responsible for their ensuing breakup, as opposed to Twilight who's behavior [[BecomingTheMask up until that point]] was [[JerkassHasAPoint proven (half-)valid]]. Also overlooked is that as soon as they saw Trixie was [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone genuinely remorseful]], Twilight immediately, and on her own accord, helped them reconcile and owned up to and apologized to her prior actions.
11	* The controversial scene in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS8E12MarksForEffort Marks for Effort]]" where Twilight accused the Cutie Mark Crusaders of (supposedly) making Cozy Glow fail her test, then banned them from the School of Friendship created a slew of {{Accusation Fic}}s about her being a HorribleJudgeOfCharacter and allegedly not listening to their side of the story. This ignores the CMC had been pulling such tricks earlier this episode, Twilight banned them only after they couldn't explain what happened unbanning them as soon as she learned the truth, and quickly after her facial expression implies she regrets her act.
12	* [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicRainbowDash Rainbow Dash]]:
13	** There's a disturbing amount of fan works that portray her as an abusive guardian to Scootaloo. There's also art of Rainbow Dash physically harming Scootaloo which can all be found on Derpibooru under the tag Scootabuse. Let's just say out of all the mane six, Rainbow Dash gets the worst treatment and is essentially the MLP counterpart to Ron.
14	** Once again done to Rainbow in a few "re-writes" of episodes (ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin, being rewritten episodes done to favour the author's favourite ship), where she is portrayed as an abusive girlfriend to Soarin (if she's shipped with him), Fluttershy, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, or Pinkie Pie. Even if the author doesn't ship any of those pairings, chances are, if they hate Dash, they'll re-write "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E22HurricaneFluttershy Hurricane Fluttershy]]" to change her from a well meaning, supportive CoolBigSis to Fluttershy to a DrillSergeantNasty who purposely forces Fluttershy to participate in the hurricane just so she can break the record out of pride, not because she genuinely cares for her, and who abuses the sick [[TheWoobie Woobiefied]] Thunderlane. (While RD did push Fluttershy to participate in the hurricane, she only did it because she wanted to get the water to Cloudsdale, not just because she wanted to break the record.) She also treats Tank like absolute shit, having not learned her lesson from "May the best pet win" to the point you're surprised her friends haven't called the pony equivalent of PETA on her. In other re-writes like that of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E5FlightToTheFinish Flight to the Finish]]" she not only laughs at the CMC's performance, but berates Scootaloo saying that [[KickTheDog "She'll never fly in her life ever and will never amount to anything."]]
15	** Some fans paint Rainbow Dash as a rapist who wanted Scootaloo as her little sister so she could "corrupt" her... And this is played for [[BlackComedyRape laughs]].
16	** There are also fans who take her jerk moments and make them more common. Like having her be an AlphaBitch to Fluttershy and Twilight, teaming up with other pegasi and beating up other characters, abusing Soarin sexually, and the less we say about what she does to Scootaloo the better.
17	** After "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E16TwentyEightPranksLater 28 Pranks Later]]", fans have given Rainbow Dash the {{Troll}} status in that she gleefully messes with her friends.
18	** This happens again in a few fics set after "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E23SecretsAndPies Secrets and Pies]]" with Dashie revealing "she never liked Pinkie or her pies", cruelly attempting to murder Pinkie, and was taking advantage of her kindness to be seen as a good pony when really she's anything but. See a trend here?
19	** On the other side of the coin, we have fans who make Rainbow Dash horribly abused by her friends who bully her, dress her up like a prisoner, and more or less treat her like garbage for no reason whatsoever. Seems like some bronies weren't fans of ''28 Pranks'' or ''Mare-Do-Well.''
20	* [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicApplejack Applejack]] in general (and sometimes the rest of the Apple family) is often at the receiving end of every negative [[DeepSouth American-Southerner]]/[[UsefulNotes/{{Appalachia}} country-bumpkin]] stereotype imaginable. Fan works often portray her as either; a {{d\|umbMuscle}}imwitted illiterate hillbilly who doesn't know anything outside of apple farming, a [[FantasticRacism racist]] redneck (especially when Zecora the resident zebra is involved), or in an incestuous relationship with either [[BrotherSisterIncest Big Macintosh]] or [[KissingCousins Braeburn]]. Or any combination of the three.
21	* [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicPinkiePie Pinkie Pie]], typically a happy-go-lucky GenkiGirl, became a target of this treatment thanks for the infamous fanfic ''Fanfic/CupcakesSergeantSprinkles'', which derails her into a psychopath who brutally murders Rainbow Dash, all while never breaking her usual façade. Many fans inspired by this fic combine it with Pinkie's mental breakdown in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E25PartyOfOne "Party Of One"]] (which aired a few weeks after ''Cupcakes'' hit the net) to make Pinkie out as an angry, depressed, knife-obsessed schizo who goes by her full name, Pinkamena Diane Pie. Perhaps worth noting that, as it originated in a TrollFic, or at least was never intended to become what it did, the success of Pinkamena points more towards something in the community than in the author.
22	** Hell, ''Pinkamena Diane Pie'' has been derailed into a bad guy! Nine times out of ten, her Pinkamena persona will be her go-to AxCrazy self (if not Meanie Pie) despite that in canon, she became so overcome with ''grief'' that her hair deflated, not anger or evil. You'll barely see any straight sad Pinkamenas outside of MyGodWhatHaveIDone moments in DarkFic. The ''Blog/AskPinkaminaDianePie'' blog helped popularize this portrayal.
23	* A lot of fanart and fics have [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicRarity Rarity]] as a [[FantasticRacism unicorn supremacist]] who calls Applejack a filthy mud pony, calls Rainbow a [[PoliticallyIncorrectVillain "flying fag"]] for her love of Applejack/Twilight/Fluttershy, and beats Sweetie Belle, going to take revenge for Ponyville Confidential by humiliating and shaming Sweetie. Or worst of all, molests and rapes the underage Spike.
24	* [[Characters/FriendshipIsMagicPrincessCelestia Princess Celestia]] got quite a bit of this treatment in fanon. Celestia is canonically the BigGood, who has some moments of good-natured humor, but is generally seen as wise, down-to-earth, and [[UniversallyBelovedLeader beloved by all of her subjects]]. And while she has a few moments of being a TricksterMentor and perhaps sitting on the sidelines a bit too much, Celestia herself has said that this is only because she doesn't want everyone to rely on her to solve every problem, and she believes that [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre everyone is more capable than they realize of overcoming great challenges]].\
25	However, some portrayals of Celestia go way in the other direction; Celestia is often written as a {{Jerkass}} {{troll}}, [[MemeticMolester a rapist]], [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen a dictator who oppresses her people]], or [[BreadEggsBreadedEggs a Jerkass troll of a rapist dictator who oppresses her people]]. The justifications for this characterization often border on the absurd. Some fans insist that Celestia did something wrong by banishing OmnicidalManiac Nightmare Moon, the SuperpoweredEvilSide of Celestia's sister Luna that was borne of Luna's jealousy of her big sister. Even after it was shown that Nightmare Moon attempted to murder Celestia, some bronies still insist that Celestia was at fault, usually by insisting that Celestia purposely stole adoration from Luna. Not only is there no evidence for this, but it wouldn't justify trying to create TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt even if there ''was'' evidence. In the case of Twilight Sparkle, Celestia is written as a BadBoss at best in fan works, and often written as some sort of torturing mentor and SadistTeacher who mentally breaks Twilight and puts her through abuse with very weak justifications ([[ForTheEvulz if there's a justification at all besides "because it's evil"]]). In canon, Celestia personally mentors Twilight as her protege, trusts her to complete incredible tasks, and absolutely adores her, regularly telling Twilight that [[SoProudOfYou she's extremely proud of Twilight's accomplishments]].\
26	The treatment of Celestia as a villain is so prevalent, most fans started to do it tongue-in-cheek. It's rare to find a work that tries to stay close to her canon portrayal of a BigGood, though [[http://www.fimfiction.net/group/669/protect-celestia a group called "Protect Celestia"]] is dedicated to stories that avert this.
27	** ''Fanfic/TheConversionBureau'' is a major contributor to the Tyrant Celestia portrayal, and a RecursiveFanfiction example itself. It's hatedom and the Anti-TCB fics, took the FridgeHorror about the setting and Celestia's portrayal, meant to be as benevolent as in canon, playing up the atrocities while turning her into a [[ANaziByAnyOtherName Nazi-expy]] tyrannical and hypocritical KnightTemplar, rarely addressing why [[BigGood Celestia]] would act this way.
28	* Prince Blueblood gets this ''a lot''. While he ''is'' a bit of a brat with an ego, he isn't the demon so many authors portray him as. It got to the point where somebody made a [[http://www.fimfiction.net/group/198/the-good-prince group]] featuring stories where this doesn't happen.
29	* After Angel Bunny [[NeverLiveItDown slapped and kicked Fluttershy out of her house]] in "Putting Your Hoof Down", there have been a ''lot'' of fan works, both serious and silly, that treat him as being ''the'' most evil character in the setting, moreso than characters like Discord, Tirek, and Chrysalis.
30	** That's not even scratching the surface. Angel is murdered in an alternate version of Cupcakes for his "unforgivable" atrocities. Many commentators said his death was well deserved. Then we have fanworks that flanderize Angel to the point that no one can root for him anymore, and his KarmicDeath (usually at the hooves of Fluttershy) is well deserved. People deliberately either make Angel worse than he is, or just have Fluttershy abuse him to the point you don't know who to root for. And yet he has been shown to have plenty of redeeming qualities which fans either ignore or make his evil deeds worse. Why does Diamond Tiara get a pass for [[KickTheDog mocking]] Scootaloo's inability to fly, yet Angel gets treated as the devil's incarnate for just one episode?
31	* Ever since ''Rainbow Falls'', fans have been giving this treatment to Spitfire, who make her even more of a DrillSergeantNasty than she was in Wonderbolts Academy, abusing recruits, replacing fallen teammates on a regular basis, and being a generally awful pony. Despite the fact that the Friends Forever comics gave her a FreudianExcuse in that she has virtually NoSocialSkills and was raised by the military, fans still demonize her and make her a DomesticAbuser to either Soarin' or Rainbow Dash, who end up hooking up with each other and defeat the evil Spitfire with Film/{{t\|hePrincessBride}}wuu [[ElmuhFuddSyndwome wuve]]. While admittedly, what she did wasn't very nice, it was a one time event, and fans ignore that and make her an abusive bitch to Rainbow Dash, and especially Soarin. If fans they demonize Rainbow Dash, they often will make Spitfire even worse to give Rainbow a FreudianExcuse.
32	* Speaking of fan favourite characters who get the death eater status, there's also Soarin who is transformed from the only consistently nice characterized Wonderbolt, reasonable authority figure, and a {{Keet}} into a DrillSergeantNasty much like Spitfire who rapes and sexually harasses Rainbow Dash, violently beats her, kills Spitfire to become Captain, plays cruel jokes on Rainbow Dash, and other really creepy things. And if he ends up with Dash, he abuses the kids. Or, they make him gay and a sex maniac who demands sex from Braeburn/Big [=MacIntosh=]/Shining Armor or whoever his significant other is, and violently assaults any mare that even ''looks'' at his man. Or they make him a vorephile who eats everything and everypony in sight. (due to his love of pies) Though it's not as common as others given his immense popularity and one of the only characterized side stallions, it still exists.
33	* Fans have begun declaring Princess Flurry Heart as one thanks in part to her role in the season six premiere, in which she nearly single handedly destroyed the Crystal Empire through her PowerIncontinence and how premieres usually have a villain involved in some way, shape, or form. This is despite the fact that she's a ''baby'' when this happens. Because of this, she also often gets depicted in artworks as turning evil or insane when she grows older.
34	* For those who don't like ''Equestria Girls'', basically all the exclusive characters (counting Sunset to a lesser degree) get the Death Eater treatment by fans who want to see them die a horrible death. Basically if you're an EQG character that's not Sunset or the Humane Six, prepare to get bashed to high heavens.
35	** A complicated case with Flash Sentry. He's considered TheScrappy by many hardcore fans simply as a "[[FanNickname Waifu Thief]]", often depicted as a cruel {{Jerkass}} or even an abusive boyfriend to Twilight and/or Sunset Shimmer, despite Flash being depicted as a genuinely NiceGuy in the canon ''Equestria Girls'' movies and shorts who only gets angry one time in ''Rainbow Rocks'' (and he was {{brainwashed\|AndCrazy}} when it happened). However, there are just as many fanfics and artworks that treat him quite sympathetically as an honorable Royal Guard who genuinely loves Twilight/Sunset, partially as a backlash against said hardcore fans and their vicious over-the-top {{Demonization}} of him - both Twilight/Flash and Sunset/Flash are popular fandom ships.
36	** Timber Spruce - despite being a canonical love interest to the Equestria Girls Twilight Sparkle - doesn't have anywhere near the hate of Flash Sentry, still gets his own Death Eater treatment on occasion though, often as a sexual predator who has a thing for underage girls or as a "Waifu Thief" like Flash.
37	** Gloriosa Daisy is often demonized for getting in the way of [=TimberLight=] (despite the fact they're, y'know, [[NoYay siblings]]) by having her transform into Gaea Everfree to destroy Canterlot High and rape the every loving crap out of Twilight both physically and {{m\|indRape}}entally.
38	** Wallflower Blush, while guilty of erasing other people's memories without their consent and petty revenge against Sunset Shimmer, has many detractors say her problems were self-inflicted by using the [[LaserGuidedAmnesia Memory Stone]]. This overlooks it was shown she was being ignored and forgotten well before, as far as 3[[superscript:rd]] grade, finding the Stone and only just started using it maliciously, and showed [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone horror and remorse for her actions]] even before being magically defeated unlike most villains. Many dismiss these mitigating factors going so far as to compare Wallflower to a school shooter, forgetting that Sunset had worse things before her CharacterDevelopment.
39	* Rumble gets this treatment from fans who don't accept his HeelRealization in Marks and Recreation after his brother scolds him, and make him into a reverse-Diamond Tiara where he attempts to get the CMC to lose their marks by any means necessary, and troll anyone who does have a mark. Alternatively, he makes his own brainwashed cult of Anti-Cutie Mark foals who take over Ponyville, ''ala'' Starlight Glimmer. And this was the kid who was incredibly meek in his first appearance! Damn...
40	%%* Starlight Glimmer tends to attract this trope a lot from fans who hate her.
41	* Several critics of Scootaloo's parents Snap Shutter and Mane Allgood, who were admittedly a bit neglectful, treat them as worse than the AbusiveParent Spoiled Rich or such that Scootaloo would be better off as an orphan. This overlooks they showed enough care and their careers gave such valid reason for their absence Scootaloo held no ill will over it ([[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E7ParentalGlideance despite acknowledging it effected her]]) until the conflict of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS9E12TheLastCrusade The Last Crusade]]", caused by their desire to protect Scootaloo and [[LockedOutOfTheLoop things they didn't know about]], which they resolved by the end.
