''Chrono X Roleplaying and Roleplayers'' (or CXRP and [=RPers=]) is what happens when a small group of people come together, become far too enthusiastic about what they're doing, and then something beautiful happens.

To clarify, Chrono X Roleplaying and Roleplayers is a group based in the (now defunct) Roleplay section of the ''VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork: Chrono X'' fangame's official forums, and as such, the roleplays are predominantly based on {{Original Character}}s from Mega Man fans.

Despite usually having no more than eight or so members active at a time, the roleplaying section has grown notably large, containing dozens of characters, battles, world details and mechanics altered from the games they were originally based on.

Though the original forums no longer exist, they can be perused via the Wayback Machine [[https://web.archive.org/web/20180517160811/http://www.mmbnchronox.com/forum/forum-24.html here]].
----
!!''CXRP and [=RPers=]'' contains examples of:
* AbortedArc: A majority of the early RP material has faded into obscurity and is not recognized as canon.
%%* ActionGirl: There are many, including Phair, Aegis, E'Athanata, Finny, Pirouette, [=SplashWoman=], and Vira. Tira, Finny's operator, may also count, as might Hana Hoshita, Sugar's operator.
%%* ActionSurvivor: Jim, if he survives.
* AerithAndBob:
** Among the RP characters are the likes of Sorean Skyward and his navi [=BreakMan=], as well as [[OverlyLongName Eva Esteria Dasion Sidos Heurassein]] and her navi E'Athanata
** There literally are two operators named Aerith and Bob.
** There are three navis named Frank, Jim and Sam, even though most navis' names' consist of a word followed by -'man' or something rather exotic, like Neotelenta or Aegis.
* AIIsACrapShoot: Largely averted, as the navis tend to be rather competent. The notable exception is the Officials, who are almost always displayed as completely incompetent.
* AlliterativeName:
** Sorean Skyway.
** Hana Hoshita.
** Any navi who's name is M-something-Man.
** Taken to an extreme by Carlos Cardenas, who held the navy rank of captain.
** There exist numerous Navi-Operator duos whose named both start with A. Upon noticing this, [=QuickSmasherEXE=] suggested throwing six of them (Alex and Aero, Anton and Aegis, Amala and Aroma, Alan and Alice, Avery and [=AlchemyMan=], Art and Aurora) in some sort of [[UltimateShowdownOfUltimateDestiny six-man super battle extraordinaire.]]
%%* AlternateUniverse: The Alternate Dimension, also a sort of AlternateContinuity.
* AndImTheQueenOfSheba: Pulled by the [[AscendedExtra (then unnamed)]] Anton when Catadioptre attacked Crystal Vision
-->'''Anton:''' "Yeah, and I'm the Queen of England."\
'''Bob:''' "Don't be ridiculous, [[ComicallyMissingThePoint men can't be queens!]]"
* AndYourRewardIsClothes: After winning a battle he was dragged into by Jak, Ferrous was forced to accept clothes as an additional reward; more clothes, though, is [[PerpetualPoverty something he could actually use.]]
%%* ArmorPiercingAttack: Attacks with breaking properties.
%%* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: In one battle, [=ArcMan=] accuses his opponent of being a jaywalker before attacking them.
* ArtAttacker:
** [=PixelMan=] and his operator Quentin are both pixel artists, who employ some of their artistic ability in their fighting style.
** [=TatttooMan=] can use tattoos to empower himself, create weapons, and nerf his enemies.
* AscendedMeme: [=TattooMan=] and [=ChocolateMan=] are characters of [=QuickSmasher.EXE=], both of which started out as jokes (by [=QuickSmasher=]).
* AwesomeButImpractical: Chip Chimeras, amalgams of several different battlechips, have a lot of flash but don't always amount to the sum of their parts. [=PixelMan=] and [=SwitchMan=] use them anyway.
* AxeCrazy: [=ArcMan=] takes disturbing delight in the deletion of his opponents.
%%* BadassCape: [=SwitchMan=] has a cape which not only looks badass, but does badass things.
* TheBeastmaster: Vira's fighting style is based around summoning viruses to do most of her dirty work.
%%* BerserkButton: Referring to Sorean as a woman is not recommended.
%%* {{BFG}}:
%%** Most of Canon's attacks.
%%** Maw's cannon, which he learned from Canon.
%%* {{BFS}}: The Zweihanders wielded by Maw and Aegis.
%%* BigBad: Taka and Mr. Grey, for Life of a Code and Future Actions, respectively.
%%* BigDamnHeroes: Revenant pulls a pretty good one.
* BladeOnAStick:
** Gladius and Maw both count spears among their arsenals.
** Aegis wields a halberd as a primary weapon.
** As with his classic counterpart, Enker's primary weapon is a spear.
* BloodKnight: A very common trope, as many characters are pugnacious by nature due to the competitive origin of the section; [=ArcMan=], however, takes this to the extreme.
%%* BlowYouAway: Navis of the wind element.
* BottomlessPits: Used to be absent, but under management change it is now possible to fall down hole panels and die.
* BrilliantButLazy: Alex is a lazy teenage boy, but has some impressive skills in netbattling.
%%** Nika Samovar. Her navi, Vira, states that she spends most of her free time dawdling.
* BritsLoveTea: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] by the [=RPers=] themselves, Panda has stated he doesn't like tea, while the American Quick is addicted to it.
%%* TheBrute: Again, a few, though none are quite as violence-loving as [=ArcMan=].
* ButtMonkey: [=AstroMan=], Leo's navi. He hates violence, but he's often dragged into it by his operator or his own inability to shut up.
%%** Leo Agronav, described by his creator as 'The Punching Bag of RP characters'.
%%* CallingYourAttacks: Ballade.
* CarFu: Dyno is a living, motorized unicycle.
* CaptainErsatz: It's rather apparent that [=SwitchMan=] and Darius take a few cues from Dark Phantom of the ''VideoGame/MegaManStarForce'' series.
* ClarkKenting: For doing very little to conceal themselves, Paris and [=ArcMan=] are quite good at never getting caught.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Apparent with numerous characters. Over time Paris grew more calculating, Leo became more nervous, etc.
%%* ChestBlaster: [=Maw=]'s Maw Laser and [=ForcerMan=]'s Front Laser.
* CommonTongue: Because the forum uses English as the base language, everyone is expected to speak English, and English is considered the common language people speak in-character. However, in some stories, despite the forum's use of English, the fact that Electopia is Japan is acknowledged, and so writings are treated as if in the proper language, in this case Japanese.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience:
** Whenever a character is speaking, it is denoted by colored text.
** In the Official Library, each element and attribute is denoted by a special color.
* ConfusionFu: [=SnafuMan's=] greatest weapon and drawback is his unpredictability.
* ContinuityNod: The roleplayers are quick to acknowledge or give their expansions on the canon of the Battle Network universe.
* CripplingOverspecialization:
** Leo trades any semblance of social or netbattling skills for the ability to be an astrophysicist at 18. Of course, astrophysics never actually come into play.
** [=ComputeMan=] had his personality programs removed to make room for more battle abilities.
%%* DanceBattler: Pirouette and Spark's Dancer form.
* DangerousSixteenthBirthday: Of all the characters, [[spoiler: Aaron Flamenco, the human half of Masquerade]] has it the worst. A self ostracizing JerkAss who, at age 16, ended up going 200 years into the past without a way back, completely separating him from his home. His insistence of vigilante work is not decreasing the danger at all.
%%* DarkerAndEdgier: The creatively titled Alternate Dimension.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Many characters get a moment of this, though Sorean, [=BreakMan=] and [=AstroMan=] stick out among the crowd.
* DeathFromAbove: Numerous attacks consist of either attacking from the skies or summoning something from the heavens:
** [=AstroMan's=] Astro Crush and Neotelenta's fire form, both of which are heat element.
** Gladius's Bolting and E'Athanata's Storming Frenzy, both of which are electric element.
** Dopple can both summon icicles to fall on enemies.
%%* DeathWorld: The Undernet in particular, as well as post-game areas from the Battle Network games.
* DiskOneNuke: SubvertedTrope in Life of a Code. At the start, it seemed that the enemy viruses were level 1 versions that would be deleted in one hit and barely scratch navis of the typical power level. [[TookALevelInBadass So Lestroisrois multiplied their damage by 10.]]
%%* DittoFighter
* DoppelgangerAttack: Aero's Kaze Bunshin attack generates copies of himself.
%%** Dopple and Ganger's fighting style, of course.
* DualWielding: Maw sometimes wields two armblades or axes, or one of each.
%%** Spark's Dancer form, especially during Cacophony.
%%* DudeLooksLikeALady: Sorean; in fact, it's his BerserkButton.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: AvertedTrope; achievements are usually acknowledged and appropriately praised both in character and out.
%%* EccentricMillionaire: Darius very clearly enjoys his fortune.
* ElementalPowers: There exists two elemental cycles in the battle system: Fire->Wood->Elec->Aqua->Fire, and Sword->Wind->Cursor->Break->Sword.
* EmbarrassingFirstName: Hyper created his nickname due to his dislike of his real one: Bertie.
* EmbarrassingNickname: [=PixelMan=] is not particularly fond of the nickname 'Pixie,' though has grown used to it.
* FantasticRacism: A special breed of pseudo-viruses called 'revenants' that consist of scrap data which has come together into an entity. While some are unthinking, zombie-like creatures, others are sentient programs somewhat like navis. Supposedly, they are looked down upon by most navis and are treated as domestic viruses under law, even if of the sentient variety.
%%* FragileSpeedster: Pirouette is one example, though [=ArcMan=] takes this much farther.
%%* FightingClown: [=ClownMan=], appropriately.
%%* FingerPokeOfDoom: Frank and [=TornadoMan=] have the appropriate strength for this.
%%* FunPersonified: [=QuickSmasher.EXE.=]
%%** Especially Bob Tavat, [=DP1073=], and [=ChocolateMan=], who all happen to be characters of [=QuickSmasher=].
%%** His navi [=TattooMan=] was a [[AscendedMeme few sentences of joking transformed into a navi]] right out of the blue. [[http://www.mmbnchronox.com/forum/thread-964-post-35961.html#pid35961 The responses were appropriate.]]
* GimmickLevel: The last battle of the [=DenCity=] Tournament had a stage rotation gimmick.
%%** It seems dungeons in a Life of Code will be like this.
%%* GlassCannon: E'Athanata, [=ArcMan=], Pirouette, etc. Of course, the first of those has shown herself to be plenty defensive in spite of her low health.
* GravityScrew: [=SwitchMan=] possesses the ability to manipulate gravity, though it rarely comes up.
%%* GratuitousFrench: Something of a bit for Belle.
* GratuitousGreek: E'Athanata translates to 'The Undying'. Misspellings became [[RunningGag so common]] that the user had to ask people to stop.
%%* GratuitousJapanese: Some of Lestroisrois's characters have this.
* GreatGazoo: The 'fighting style' of [=QuickSmasherEXE=] himself is less 'fighting' and more 'doing whatever'.
%%* GreenThumb: Some wood element navis, though most use the element in other ways.
%%* GunsAkimbo:
%%** Aero's dual blasters.
%%** Rythmic Canon's pistols.
* HappilyAdopted: Alex Storms has been adopted by canon character Tamako.
* HavingABlast: Revenants tend to have innate skill with explosives.
* HeroesPreferSwords:
** Numerous characters, heroes or otherwise, wield swords, even if they are not of the sword element.
** Oddly averted with ''sword'' element navis. Gladius and Maw are skilled with large amounts of weapons, and [=TattooMan's=] abilities are built around tattooing needles. Neotelenta plays this straight, however.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: [=SwitchMan=], (whose main fighting style is switching things), and [=TattooMan=], (who fights by using an oversized tattooing needle to tattoo himself for buffs or his enemies for nerfs).
* InterspeciesRomance: Leo suspects Jak and his navi [=SplashWoman=] of this. [[spoiler:He's wrong.]]
%%* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Most Revenant characters.
%%* KnightOfCerebus: Morrison is a rather extreme examples of this.
* LargeHam: One would be hard pressed to find an instance where Darius ''isn't'' being some kind of melodramatic.
%%** Quick has recently taken up calling himself one of these.
%%* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Navis with the Shield program.
%%* MakingASplash: Aqua navis, though some use [[AnIcePerson ice instead of liquid water]].
%%* ManOfAThousandFaces: [=SwitchMan=] is an acting navi, and apparently quite the accomplished actor.
* MasterOfDisguise: One of [=SwitchMan's=] signature abilities is actually called Disguise, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin allowing him take on the appearance, voice and even personality of others]] with just [[AwesomeByAnalysis a bit of observation]]. In fact, it's quite common of him to enter battle while mimicking his opponent.
%%* MasterOfIllusion: [[RuleOfThree Also [=SwitchMan=].]]
* MeaningfulName: Most navis have names that correlate to their appearance and abilities. This trope is very common and directly acknowledged in [=QuickSmasher=]'s characters.
%%* MegatonPunch: The metal fist chip series, as is Sugar's Megaton Power ability, though the latter can also be used as a kick.
%%* MightyGlacier: [=TornadoMan=] and Catadioptre.
* MultiMeleeMaster: Gladius and Maw both wield a wide variety of melee weapons, though Maw's weapons are bracers which shift between different forms, while Gladius carries all his weapons with him.
* TheNapoleon: Sorean is a very, very short man and tries to act like an adult to the younger characters he often finds himself around.
* NonHumanSidekick: Snatcher is a Red UFO virus always found with Voirade.
%%* NoSocialSkills: Eva and Leo both exemplify this to extreme degrees.
%%* ObviouslyEvil: [=MurkMan=] plays this straight; Abel heavily subverts it.
* OneSteveLimit:
** There is a total of ''four'' Sams, though this is an intentional thing done for two pairs of characters.
** Most people, when saying the name Leo, mean Leo Agronav. Leo Minor is the name of Aaron's EM companion.
** Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, father and daughter EM beings.
* OrphansOrdeal: A large part of [[spoiler:Ferrous's]] back story was set off by the death of his parents.
%%** Felix Deprisma's early life was rather tough.
* PaletteSwap: Maw can turn into a discolored normal navi, and Sonata can change the colour of her armour quite freely.
%%* PaperThinDisguise: A favorite of [=ArcMan=] and Marduk.
* PlayingWithFire: Heat element navis, though less so than with other elements. Masquerade's use of this is very straightforward, however; he even possesses an ability called [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin pyrokinesis]].
* PoliceAreUseless: Other than Bach, Tira and Finny, and Tom's officials, this is pretty much universal. Even ''[[ButtMonkey Leo]]'' makes a few cracks at them:
-->'''Leo:''' "I thought [calling the officials incompetent] was everyone's bit."
%%* ThePowerOfActing: [=SwitchMan=], of course. He's used his abilities to try and trick opponents before.
* PowerOfFriendship: The most potent operator-navi duos are either hardened mercenaries with years of training or teens who happen to get along well with their navis.
* PowersAsPrograms:
** Navis actually are computer programs, and certain abilities are actually called 'programs'.
** In the true spirit of this trope, [=SystemMan=] can copy and disable enemy programs.
%%* PsychoElectro: [=ArcMan=]. He even calls himself this by name.
%%* PungeonMaster: [=ArcMan=] is very fond of puns.
* RealMenLoveJesus:
** Emeka and [=SystemMan=] are uncompromisingly religious.
** Out of character, [=Ace=] and [=Quick=] have both stated themselves to be Christians as well. [=X=] has confirmed the same.
* RecruitTeenagersWithAttitude: Another trope inherited from the original canon, around half of the main characters are gifted teenagers. This trope has become less popular over time, and Quick and North have mostly veered away from it.
* RedOniBlueOni: Understandably, this comes up a fair bit, as it's a simple way to differentiate characters.
** Dopple and Ganger are a very straight example: Dopple is a blue, calculating, ice-themed navi, while Ganger is a red, aggressive, fire-based navi.
** Paris and [=ArcMan=] have gradually polarized: Paris is very collected and professional, and [=ArcMan=] openly revels in every moment he has to do anything, especially fighting.
** Eva is very shy and physically weak, while E'Athanata is bold to the point of impulsiveness and among the more physically strong of navis who don't specialize in things such as strength or speed.
** [=OmnyoMan=] literally has the ability to summon a red oni and a blue oni. Guess what statistics they have?
* RestartTheWorld: [[spoiler: HTTP desires to destroy net technology and give rise to a new world from its ashes]].
* RichPeople: Both Darius and Justin are characters of Quick, who is very eager to exaggerate the power of money to the most ridiculous degree possible.
%%** Quentin and Hyper come from rather wealthy families.
%%** Both nevertheless pale in comparison to Darius, Justin, Abel and Harry.
* RunningGag: Holy moly.
** For Quick, we have chocolate, muffins, his Slow Clap reaction image, and his awful language skills.
** North has his ego and, more recently, his flying giraffe.
** Lestroisrois is as intelligent as the prodigies s/he writes about. On that note, Lestro's unspecified gender has also become a running gag.
** [=KamiPanda=] isn't just British, he's certified professional British!
* RussianGuySuffersMost: As a part of his role as [[ButtMonkey suffering comic relief]], Leo naturally exemplifies this. Of all the characters he's been the one to sustain physical injury the most.
* SelfMadeMan: Darius began as a son of immigrants and made his way to CEO of a major filming company.
* SelfInsert: [=QuickSmasher.EXE=] is about blatant as you can get with this, though he seems more content to pester the villains than to significantly affect the plot.
%%* SharpDressedMan: Darius, as well as most male villains.
%%* ShockAndAwe: Navis of the elec element.
%%* SphereOfDestruction: Any attack which explodes can be guaranteed to be this.
* StoneWall: [=AmusementMan=] may be terrible in battle, but he possesses the highest health of all playable navis.
%%* TerribleTrio: Marduk, [=AmusementMan=] and [=ClownMan=].
* TextualCelebrityResemblance:
** [=WickerMan=], [=PuppetMan=], [=SaberMan=] and Canon have the designs of other fictional characters rather than original ones.
** Dopple and Ganger are descried as appearing to have 'Gundam-like suits'.
* TheyCallHimSword: Gladius's first weapon was... a gladius.
* TimeTravel: EM beings are characters from [[VideoGame/MegaManStarForce 200 years in the future]] who arrive in the past for various reasons.
* TinfoilHat: Bob can make four tinfoil hats out of fifty chocolate bar wrappers, with letters on them, in under a minute.
* TokenAdult: Sorean is the only fully grown person [[TheNapoleon (if you want to call him that)]] among the most common group of characters, who are largely teenagers, with only Leo and Alex being close to adulthood. [[CastHerd Outside of this group, however, most groupings]] tend to consist of adults.
* TournamentArc: The annual netbattle tournaments, of course.
* VerbalTic:
** [=BreakMan=] has a tendency to start his sentences with 'heh'.
** Voirade has a very distinct speech pattern, littered with 'kekekeke' laughter and 'see?'s
** Abel has his 'hrmph' laughter.
%%* TheVonTropeFamily: Jak Von Tinker.
* {{Unobtainium}}: In Future Actions, an entire city is powered by a small amount of what is called Humbelium. The bad guys steal it, naturally.
%%* ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption: As it started as a net''battling'' section, it's quite easy to see why this would come up.
%%* WeaponTwirling:
%%** Done by Gladius for his Critical Hit move.
%%** Used by both Aero and Gladius as a defense.
%%* WhipItGood: Sandtrap.
* XanatosGambit: Taka's plan for Catadioptre to invade Crystal Vision Studios is designed so that it was unlikely for him to come out at a disadvantage. It certainly hasn't stopped Quick from trying.
