* DisappointedByTheMotive: Taka's accomplice, Nagito, is notably annoyed to realize whose secret letter he obeyed, considering it disgraceful that the Ultimate Moral Compass would commit murder and considering the world he wanted to create where everybody is equal to be miserable.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: After being lured out to an isolation class room and realizing that he was going to be murdered, Nekomaru apparently allowed Taka to kill him in hopes of ending the motive
* FailedASpotCheck: Taka manages to slip a note into Nagito's pocket without him noticing while having a conversation with him.
* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Miu attempts to kill Celeste with a booby trap after being forced to act as her servant.

* MurderByMistake: Subverted. Fuyuhiko tries to claim that the murderer tried to lure him out and Chihiro ended up falling for the trap instead, but turns out to be the real killer trying to feign innocence.
* PerfectPoison: A simple prick from trying to open a cabinet is enough to dose Chihiro with the fatal poison.
* WeNeedADistraction: Fuyuhiko provokes Miu with death threats into making a public scene so that he can move more freely throughout the school.

[[folder:Tropes for the Fourth Trial]]
* CuttingTheKnot: When it is suggested that the Mastermind may not know who set up the trap in Kokichi's lab, Nagito points out that, with the poison gas taking 24 hours to mix and the cameras only being out for an hour, the mastermind would've had plenty of time to derail Kokichi's plan if it had actually been a threat to them.
* DisappointedByTheMotive: Nagito is disappointed by Kokichi's suicide, seeing it as an ineffectual attempt to fight the mastermind.
* SuicideNotMurder: Kokichi's death quickly becomes a clear-cut suicide, with the debate focusing on whether he had an ally.
* ThanatosGambit: Kokichi committed Suicide with the intent of misleading the mastermind.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Monokuma implies that Hiyoko's murder plot had him paying close enough attention to the students to see through Kokichi's plan.
