2	Spider-Man plans to end his relationship with Madame Web -- his life is already complete with Mary Jane by his side and he's not interested in the battle she's preparing him for. She allows him to have his way, but warns him about "the two-headed monster rising from the Netherworld".

4	She's referring, in her own unhelpful way, to Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin. "They" have repaired and upgraded the Time Dilation Accelerator, and the Goblin is urging the increasingly-strained Norman to lash out against anyone who could possibly threaten his family. With Hobgoblin out of the way, his targets include Kingpin, Spider-Man, and the woman he sees as having broken his son's heart -- Mary Jane.

6	When the T.D.I lets him see who's under Spider-Man's mask, Norman completely snaps. Convinced Peter and MJ were attacking him through Harry, he lets his "only friend" take total control.

8	What follows is as close to "The Night Gwen-Stacy Died" as the censors would allow -- after a kidnapping and a struggle atop the George Washington bridge, Mary Jane disappears into a portal with no way of finding her. Enraged, Spider-Man seriously considers letting the same thing happen to Osborn, only deciding to SaveTheVillain at the last second. Osborn tries to backstab him with his Glider, only to hit himself with it and ''literally'' lose his grip on reality.

10	As Spider-Man begs for mercy from Madame Web, she appears to him once more. When he asks her to put everything back the way it was, she refuses -- there's no turning back now. Enraged, Spidey calls her out and yells at her to get out of his life, which she does... for now. She warns him that he still cannot escape destiny and she will call for him again.

12	Back at the bridge, Peter laments on his loss for Mary Jane. Unbeknownst to him, Mary Jane is falling to an unknown dimension.

When it looked like MJ died from the bridge (She didn't, but Spidey didn't know at the time.) He did suffer greatly.
