When Ryker refused to stop investigating the case, she had him framed. Reileen then blackmailed Laurens with the knowledge of the girls' deaths to get him to use his influence to stop 653. After doing so, he unexpectedly committed suicide before his timed backup, with the intention of forgetting the whole affair to assuage his guilt, as his backup lacked his most recent memories.
