!!Tropes:
* AnAesop: When it comes to art, don't be afraid to pursue it or show off, no matter what people think of it. However, be careful where you place the art as you may end up committing to vandalism on public property.
* TheBadGuyWins: Technically, Mr. Smiley gives up being a vandal but, thanks to Deku, everyone watching his interview finds the website the young Hero made for him before the their final pursuit. If he hasn't been recognized back then, he sure will now.
* BeyondTheImpossible: ''Somehow'', even robots are not immune to Mr. Smiley.
* CrazyPrepared: Mr. Smiley already anticipates that the Heroes will try to work around his Quirk. If they are too far, he can throw a mobile projection of his smiling face. If someone close their eyes, he can immediately get their attention to open them again.
* DieLaughing: Luckily, a Smile affected Bakugo sufferers a subverted example and only laughs himself into unconsciousness.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Mr. Smiley may be a vandal, but he's not a major villain looking to cause trouble. As such, he only incapacitates his targets, not harm them. When the jewel robbers attack his art and endanger the civilians, he steps in to help the Heroes stop them.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: Mr. Smiley invokes this when interviewed after helping to stop the jewel robbers and surrendering to the Heroes. His Smile Quirk takes affect, making anyone and everyone who is watching the news in real time to laugh, including the other Agencies and the students who attend, ''and even the stoic Aizawa''.
* HelplessWithLaughter: Mr. Smiley's Smile Quirk can affect even the most hardened individuals like Endeavor. Anyone looking at his grinning face [in real time] is made to laugh uncontrollably for 2 whole hours, unable to do anything else. At worse, targets can also lose control of their Quirks during their laughing fits.
* KnowWhenToFoldThem: Deku convinces Mr. Smiley to stop his vandalization acts. After helping to stop the jewel robbers moments after, he surrenders without further resistance.
* LighterAndSofter: Unlike the League of Villains and the Meta Liberation Army, or any Villain Deku and the others faced in the past, Mr. Smiley is otherwise harmless. The worse they deal with here is his Smile Quirk.
* LoopholeAbuse:
** Avoiding Mr. Smiley's smiles is an easy way to avoid being affected by his Quirk, whether being blindfolded or just keeping your eyes closed. Endeavor and Bakugo try this and would have stopped him if not for Deku.
** True to the Quirk's name, Smile only works if Mr. Smiley is actively smiling. Deku is able to talk to him up front because he ''stopped'' smiling at one point.
* MirrorCharacter: Midoriya compares Mr. Smiley to Ms. Joke, a Pro Hero who can also make people laugh.
* MoodWhiplash: Pursuing Mr. Smiley is a comedic affair. Things get a bit serious when dangerous jewel robbers come into the picture.
* RefusalOfTheCall: The police beg Endeavor to help track down Mr. Smiley, but he turns them down because he is too busy with preparing for the counterattack on the Paranormal Liberation Front to worry about some "two-bit vandal". It's when he finds his house vandalized later that night that he drops everything and mobilizes his entire Agency to stop Smiley the next day.
* SympathyForTheDevil: While the other Heroes find ways to work around Mr. Smiley's powers, Midoriya starts researching his background. He finds the vandal's motive is just to be more noticeable by the art community, similar to how Midoriya himself wanted to be a Hero long before he had One For All. With this, he convinces Mr. Smiley to start using his talents legally as a true artist, regardless of what people say about his work.
