!!Tropes
* CallingTheOldManOut: Michael asks David Wallace why he transferred Holly and tells him exactly how awful he thought the move was.
* DidNotThinkThisThrough: Ryan manipulates Kelly into breaking up with Darryl to be with him, but clearly was not prepared for Darryl to cheerfully acquiesce, leaving him stuck in a relationship with Kelly that he visibly does not really want to be in.
* FailedASpotCheck: Andy misses Angela calling for Dwight in the phone due to being drunk.
* GilliganCut: Kelly gives a talking head about how she's ''absolutely not'' going to get back together with Ryan. Cue a shot of the pair of them making out in her nook.
* GratuitousFrench: Andy engages in this throughout the episode since he's on a business trip in Canada... and he's not that good at it. For instance, the first occurrence is him bidding "bon voyage à la mon petite fiancée": not only is the correct phrase "bon voyage à ''ma'' petite fiancée", he's also technically wishing a good trip to someone who's staying, while he's the one who's leaving.
* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Michael believes numerous things about other countries that are exaggerated stereotypes (such as that people from Japan ''always'' commit suicide to avoid shame), thinks hotel concierges are [[HighClassCallGirl High-Class Call Girls]], and is under the impression that Americans don't need to wash their hands after using the toilet.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: Everyone in the office is excited for Jim because Pam is coming back. In expressing their enthusiasm, Kevin slaps Jim on the butt and Creed awkwardly comes up behind him, whispers in his ear, and squeezes his shoulders.
* OhCrap: Ryan realizes by how quickly Darryl agrees to a breakup with Kelly that she would not be enjoyable as a relationship partner. This seems to be justified by a camera shot of Darryl leaving the warehouse appearing to stroll out with a posture indicating that he is pleased with the situation.
** Andy when realizing he drunk-dialed Angela.
* TheOldestProfession: Michael thinks that a concierge is this, due to misunderstanding David's suggestion that he ask them about the local nightlife.
* PetTheDog: David Wallace gives Michael the opportunity to go to Canada due to guilt for breaking him up.
* PoirotSpeak: Parodied. Michael tries to do this (especially the "how you say" bit) because he is now technically in another country, not realizing that A.) this trope is only for people who don't speak fluent ''English'', and B.) he is in Canada, where they ''also'' speak fluent English.
* WantingIsBetterThanHaving: Pam comes back from art school because a corporate-sponsored education in graphic design isn't nearly as romantic as wanting to be an artist. In RealLife, artists have to work, make things other people will pay money for, and know how to use the latest technology.
