After trashing the farmhouse ''[[NoodleIncident yet again]]'' while having fun, Mikey is castigated by the others (sans April) and told to clean up his mess, with Raphael calling him a big screw-up. Finally fed up with his brothers' treatment and feeling underappreciated, Mikey decides to run away. Out in the woods, he stumbles across a mutant frog who, after a brief fight, introduces himself as Napoleon Bonafrog. The two hit is off rather well, and Napoleon decides to show Mikey where he and his tribe live. After being introduced to the tribe's leaders, a series of misunderstandings lead the frogs to believe that the other turtles are being held hostage by humans, and so they launch a rescue mission. A few fights later, and April and Casey rescue the tribes leader from a fire, leading to him calling a truce and the frogs leaving the woods for Louisiana.

* ActorAllusion: Played for all its worth with Napoleon, voiced by Jon Heder, the frog has the same manner of speech, catchphrases, personality and, of course, first name as Film/NapoleonDynamite, and a strong physical resemblance to boot.
* AdaptationalBadass: While the 80's Punk Frogs only had 4 members, this version has enough mutant frogs to make up an army.
* AdaptationExplanationExtrication: In the 80s series, The Shredder named the Punk Frogs after historical figures he looked up to. There's not really any given reason the Frogs are named after infamous historical figures in this incarnation.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Napoleon aside, the frogs were planning on waging war against the human race.
* AdiposeRex: Attila, while not explicitly a king has a design evocative of this, complete with a crown made of twigs.
* BerserkButton: According to the news article, the Punk Frogs get really pissed if you mistake them for toads.
* BindleStick: This classic trope appears when Mikey runs away from home with one.
* ContinuityNod: Leo is finally back in fighting shape after his injuries at the end of Season 2, but he is still shown briefly nursing a sore knee during the climactic fight scene.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: The core four Punk Frogs, like the Turtles of this series, have their own distinct appearances now, bearing somewhat closer resemblance to the figures they're based upon, sans Napoleon, who is still distinct, but bears resemblance to Napoleon Dynamite.
* DramaticIrony: The news article quotes some people who argue that humans have nothing to fear from the frogs, because they only eat flies. Others argue that they're a danger because there's no such thing as human sized flies. Baxter Stockman might disagree with that.
* {{Expy}}: This version of Napoleon Bonafrog is an amphibian version of Film/NapoleonDynamite. Same actor, same personality.
** The other frog leaders are named for Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, and Rasputin, with the personalities to match.
** Although Attila is given [[Creator/MarlonBrando Marlon Brando's]] voice.
* FantasticRacism: Beyond the frogs-vs-humans thing, Rasputin doesn't trust turtles.
* FoodSlap: When Raph gets ready to chew out Ice Cream Kitty for participating in Mikey's shenanigans, she cuts him off by flinging some of her own body on him.
* FreezeFrameBonus: The news article on the frogs has several fully written paragraphs that aren't read out loud.
** In that same shot, there are three sketches of the Punk Frogs. One looks like the [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2014 Bay-Turtle]] version of Mikey.
* GoodSmokingEvilSmoking: [[NoSmoking While there's no actual smoke seen coming from it]], Attilla is constantly puffing on a hookah, an early indicator that he's a villain.
* GreenAesop: PlayedWith. Attila the Frog uses mankind's urbanization, and destruction of their swamps, as justification to declare war on humanity.
* HeelFaceTurn: The frogs as a whole, after seeing April and Casey save their leaders.
* JerkassRealization: Raph has this moment when April most particularly calls him out by saying that he never appreciate Mikey the most.
* MythologyGag: One of the pictures on the article Donnie pulls up looks like Mikey from [[Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2014 the 2014 movie]].
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Napoleon is basically Mikey, as he's the youngest of his brothers who, as he states, always pick on him and unappreciate him, which is proven true by Gengis calling him an "itty witty baby". And he too ran away because of a mess he caused.
* OverlyLongTongue: Well, they are frogs.
* PutTheirHeadsTogether: A unique long range version, two frogs trap Raph's arms with their tongues, and he yanks them to slam their heads together.
* {{Squick}}: The other turtles' reaction upon seeing Mikey eat flies.
* TheTitling: Used for the episode's title.
* VillainOfTheWeek: The fourth one this season.
* WhatTheHellHero: Leo, Donnie, Raph, and Casey call out Mikey after he trashes the house again when he was just having fun with Ice Cream Kitty. Later, April calls them out for what they did, especially Raph.
-->'''Raph:''' (''angrily'') Clean...up...NOW! and as for you...\
(''Ice Cream Kitty throws ice cream at Raph's face and Raph throws Ice Cream Kitty in the freezer'')\
'''Raph:''' And stay there. It better be spotless by the time we get back. (''opens the door'') Some ninja. You're just a big screw-up.\
(''Later on back at the farmhouse'')\
'''Leo:''' Man, I can't believe Mikey left us with this mess.\
'''Casey:''' He totally ditched. I haven't seen him for hours.\
'''April:''' (''sternly'') Yeah, maybe because you were total jerks! You guys never appreciate him, especially you Raph!\
'''Raph:''' Huh? That's not true. [[JerkassRealization I...I mean I...]]
