!Tropes for this episode include:

* CharacterDrivenStrategy:
** Melty claims that her father King Aultcray is a brilliant game player, managing to outdo his wife and daughters effortlessly in games that emphasize strategy. However, he will often throw a game whenever he plays against Malty (who is a terrible gamer), showing that all of the strategic genius in the world doesn't matter when Aultcray lets his paternal affection cloud his judgement.
** Unlike her father, Malty "Mayne" Melromarc is a terrible game player. She will routinely make up rules that arbitrarily benefit her and handicap her opponents, only to throw a tantrum and wreck the board when her own poor planning costs her the game. This reflects her low-functioning sociopathy and tendency to KickTheDog even when it bites her in the long-run, never learning from her mistakes.
* CommanderContrarian: When King Trash has Naofumi brought before him to interrogate him on his Rage Shield, Trash admits outright that he has no reason to believe whatever Naofumi has to tell him, basically rendering the whole thing pointless from the get-go. Naofumi sees it for the InsaneTrollLogic that it is.
* CurbStompBattle: Glass defeats 3 of the 4 heroes in a single shot.
* DidntThinkThisThrough:
** King Aultcrey, spiteful as always, had the Shield Hero and his party banned from using the country's Dragon Hourglass to get class upgrades. Not only would this hinder all Four Heroes in their fight against the wave in the long run, but when Naofumi finds out that he could just leave the country and get their class upgrades there, he decides to do just that.
** Itsuki tries doing acts of grand heroism from the shadows, hoping to make a grand reveal in order to craft a fun narrative. In-practice, this leads to someone stealing the reward money for his deeds, no one actually knowing what the Bow Hero looks like. When he tries blaming Naofumi for it, the Shield Hero lays out a laundry list of reasons why he's wrong; he lacks the royal seal that proves his identity and the Four Heroes aren't the only ones with Morph Weapons.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Motoyasu and his party demand that Naofumi give them Filo so they could kill her after the GroinAttack she gave him.
* HeroWithAnFInGood: When Naofumi prioritizes the safety of the villagers over fighting the boss, the Three Heroes think that this makes him the least "heroic" among them.
* HumbleHero: When Ren finds out that he accidentally caused a pandemic when he left the Dragon's corpse, he is genuinely horrified. He also defends Naofumi when Itsuki still tries to blame Naofumi for his stolen reward money when evidence of his innocence starts piling up.
* MovingTheGoalposts: When Naofumi tries to get class-upgrades, the Nun claims that they have to pay a hefty fine to be allowed to do it, Naofumi having only enough money for one of them. Then, when she sees that it the CashGate didn't scare him off, she pulls out a royal decree forbidding him from getting any class upgrades in the kingdom, implying that the CashGate was both done out of spite and illegal.
* NeverMyFault: When Itsuki tries to blame Naofumi for stealing his reward money, Naofumi manages to lay out enough evidence to at least convince Ren that he didn't do it. Rather than admit he was wrong, Itsuki vows that he will be able to prove it somehow, more concerned with making Naofumi TheScapegoat for his lack of critical thinking than finding out who actually did it.
* ReadTheFreakingManual: When the Waves hit, the Three Heroes are confused when a group of knights appear with Naofumi. When Naofumi points out that including them in his ranks are there to read in the manual that comes with the weapons, the Heroes immediately change the subject, deeming it unimportant.
* TemptingFate: When Naofumi's party first meets Melty, he's reluctant at first because, with his luck, he might be accused of kidnapping her. In the third act, that's just what happens, the Three-Heroes Church manufacturing a story that he kidnapped her and killed her entourage to make him the kingdom's most wanted.
* WakeUpCallBoss: Glass single handedly defeats all the Cardinal heroes on her own, with Naofumi the only one to make her use any real effort.
* TheWorfBarrage: The three heroes use their Meteor Attacks on Glass, to no effect at all.
* WorthyOpponent: After witnessing their performance in battle, Naofumi is the only one of the 4 heroes that Glass judges to be an actual hero.
