It seems like he's a good man, but it then it's revealed he's TheDragon to the EvilSorcerer [[BigBad Lord Vale Ian]] and is critical to the latter's plan to TakeOverTheWorld. The heroes try to kill Charles in his home as part of their plan to take down Ian, [[KickTheDog mocking him for the circumstances of his birth during their attack]], and in self-defense he kills Aaron's [[LoveInterests girlfriend]], [[ActionGirl Ele]][[TheLadette na]]. From here it seems like he's a FauxAffablyEvil villain, but then it's revealed he had no idea his master was evil because [[ThePawn Ian was deceiving him this whole time]]. As soon as he finds out he helps Aarom to finally defeat his former master Ian, and the Aaron reluctantly forgives Charles because his party forced Bob into that situation.
