* The Knaarens. Imagine being chased by psychotic, invincible beings with the innate desire to eat you. They live in a DeathWorld, only surviving underground in a maze of complicated and dark tunnels. The gameplay also [[GenreShift shifts from combat and platforming to stealth-based survival horror]], and since Rayman witnesses Globox getting kidnapped and captured in front of him, he is forced to escape and survive all by himself without his antics to lighten up the mood. Just listen to the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KujuwthLuRI music!]]
** Lines like "Brain... fresh brains!" don't help on calming you down. Though sometimes, we get [[NightmareRetardant things]] like [[PokeThePoodle "Spit in his eye!"]] or the ever so hilarious ''[[CutHisHeartOutWithASpoon "Make him write bad checks!"]]''
* The return of the Zombie Chickens from Rayman 2. '''[[https://youtu.be/ULXx38iE2jE ESPECIALLY THE MUSIC THAT PLAYS WHEN THEY APPEAR]]'''.
* The hallway before the FinalBoss is a little unsettling. While the villains' conversation is silly, you still get the sense that they're about to put you in a lot of danger, and they're very close by. It's also [[ItsQuietTooQuiet eerily quiet]] compared to the rest of the level. What's more, if you score high enough on the preceding minigame section, you can unlock a side hallway that shows off several DummiedOut enemies imprisoned. [[NothingIsScarier This is the only place they appear, this far in and this out of the way, and they're all trapped. What are they? Why are they here? Can they get out? Should they?]]
* The Hoodlums' design is kind of unsettling if you think about it. They have [[RedEyesTakeWarning huge, glowing red eyes]] underneath their hoods, and also, they technically have [[TheBlank no true face]]. They are essentially a cross between a scarecrow and a potato sack with their true form, a Black Lum, in the sack.
* Halfway through the Tower of the Leptys, Rayman reunites with Globox, who managed to escape the self-destructing Hoodlum Headquarters by stealing an Armaguiddon. However, as soon as he returns, Globox screams that he can't find the brakes, and the camera makes it seem like he crashed and died. David Gasman's delivery makes Rayman horrified and actually scared for his best friend's life. Luckily, Globox was unharmed and just pulled a prank on him, but still...
--> '''Rayman''': Globox! Globox, are you okay?! Globox!
* The whole final showdown with Reflux/Leptys. Unlike other ''Rayman'' series final bosses, this one feels ''much'' more serious, giving off ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' vibes that you can't expect from a cartoonish comedy game.
-->'''Andre:''' I ''told'' you I'd serve you Rayman on a platter! BON APPITIT! (''EvilLaugh'')\
'''Reflux:''' Thanks, Andy.
** Even in his first form, Reflux now looks more terrifying. He may have just started to fuse with Leptys, but is now more powerful and can [[ShockAndAwe cast a lot of lightning bolts]] on you.
** The second form. He becomes a giant monster, complete with a BodyHorror sequence. [[WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids For an E-rated game, Leptys really does look too scary.]] And he is gonna stomp you. [[OhCrap Rayman's expression]] in the transition cutscene is quite appropriate.
** In the third phase, you must climb up your way up while platforms are starting to disappear. This gives a lot of anxiety. You need to take a rocket power-up to beat Leptys, but just when it looks like you've won, he suddenly grows wings and flies up to the sky.
** The final phase. You're now flying in the some sort of odd-looking dimension in the sky. All the crying eyeball flowers surrounding the battlefield give a genuinely jarring atmosphere.
* [[TheStinger The ending]], where it turns out Rayman's hands scampered off while he and Globox slept and scared a Red Lum with shadow puppets, hence creating Andre. [[AmbiguousSituation Or]], if you suppose this scene takes place in the present, [[HereWeGoAgain REcreating him]]!
