This film is ''[[MemeticMutation infamous]]'' for its overly dramatic moments.
----
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pebble_dance.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Everybody do the [[FightSceneFailure Pebble Dance]]!]]
* The [[FightSceneFailure Pebble]] [[FanNickname Dance]] is ''[[MemeticMutation infamous]]'' for this. During a scene where [[https://youtu.be/HR2kbOK8i6I?t=86 Earthbenders are staging a revolt]].
** What we have is six Earthbenders come stomping aggressively into frame, dramatically swinging their arms and shouting in unison for several seconds, only for a single rock about the size of a football to lazily float into shot ''from off-screen'' towards the Firebenders, which requires a seventh Earthbender to punch into them [[note]]the stomping Earthbenders are supposed to be putting up earth walls to defend against their captors' fire blasts, but the scene is so poorly shot it's hard to tell[[/note]].
** One earthbender at the front of the pack [[LargeHam screams out louder than the rest]]. It's hilarious how much he sticks out.
** The Fire Nation guys do ''nothing'' while this elaborate attack is being set up. The guy that gets hit by the small, slow-moving rock doesn't even make an attempt to dodge.
** In keeping with everyone else in this scene. Sokka's awkward glances at everything around him after he gets into his pose are the icing on the cake.
** Really, the entire scene is a great example of how ''not'' to do a [[TheOner Oner]]; by having it all in one shot with the camera floating around gently, we see the characters awkwardly wait for their cue to actually ''do something'' against their opponents.
** The Pebble Dance is just the biggest example of the problem with ''every'' bending scene in the movie. It takes ''so'' much karate-ing at the air to cause the ''smallest'' bending effects, that a lot of the movie is people standing around waiting for something to happen. It's about ten times Narmier if you've seen the animated versions of these scenes (amazing, fast-paced, dynamic battles all) but watching people patiently wait all day for attacks to be slowly drawn up and drift towards them looks ridiculous even if you hadn't. The more the music tries to convince you that something grand and momentous is happening, the more it just makes you {{Facepalm}}.
** Really, the Earthbender revolt feels more like a parody than anything, making it hard to not burst out laughing at some point during the scene. Take the poorly shot fight scene that makes it look like it takes six people to bend a small rock that one person could pick up and throw, combine it with the Fire Nation soldiers somehow managing to imprison these Earthbenders on ''solid land'' (read: the very stuff they can control and use as weapons, which is why in the series they were imprisoned on a ''metal rig in the middle of the ocean'') without them having revolted until the main characters show up, and you get a bunch of people that come off as comedically incompetent rather than demoralized.
* "Then they sent their machines... huge machines ''made of metal''."
* When [[spoiler:Zhao kills the Moon Spirit]], [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BjJBQyNR68 cue a zoom into Iroh's eyeball]]. Iroh then does a [[NarmCharm (hilarious but awesome)]] display of firebending.
** [[DullSurprise "HE'S MAKING]] [[CaptainObvious FIRE OUT OF NOTHING!"]]
** This is even funnier if you're familiar with the show, in which making fire out of nothing is how firebending ''normally works''.
* Extreme close ups such as the one used on Iroh's eyeball tend to be used to highlight emotion or detail. The sheer AMOUNT of extreme close ups on character faces is very uncomfortable, and the child actors aren't too good at acting so a lot of the conversation their blank or mildly concerned face takes up the whole screen in HD and you're just watching them talk. It's very awkward
* The best of all has to be "And you think my son might be this person?" (overly long pause) "... [[BigYes YEEEEEEEEEEES!]]"
* In her first scene, Yue's hair [[https://ic.pics.livejournal.com/aerieel/26055487/4497/4497_original.jpg seen from the back]] happens to look like a GagPenis. Since her hairstyle changes for the rest of the movie, it almost makes you wonder if she noticed in the meantime.
** And even then, that other hairstyle has its own issues, as we can clearly see Seychelle Gabriel's brunette roots and they even forgot to dye her eyebrows; making Yue come off as a lying poser when she goes on about how her hair turned white.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E8LYmqmgn4 "It is time we show the Fire Nation that we believe in our beliefs as much as they believe in theirs".]] Since when did this become ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann''? Made even more awkward when this was said right before she [[spoiler:gave her life to become the new Moon Spirit]], a pure TearJerker in the original series. [[Podcast/RiffTrax BELIEVE]] [[Manga/{{Naruto}} IT!]]
* Another great line is "Again, I offer my condolences on [[AsYouKnow your nephew burning to death in that terrible accident]]". Subtle, Zhao... real subtle. He then goes on to talk about Iroh's son dying in the siege of Ba Sing Se, [[MrExposition at great length and detail]].
* Similar to the above mentioned Earthbender prison sequence, the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs2xoxkbABI Aang and Blue Spirit team-up fight]] is another prime example of the [[TheOner Oner]] shot that was done to poor effect.
** Said fight has the titular Blue Spirit character frequently swinging his swords ''without hitting anything''. All while being done in slow motion.
** In the same fight, Aang retreats to a sort of training area, and the soldiers [[MookChivalry just wait while he gathers himself]]. Overall, the soldiers standing around in the background doing nothing happens throughout a majority of the entire sequence.
** While attacking Aang and the Blue Spirit, the soldiers are all using swords and spears to fight, almost completely disregarding the fact that they can shoot fire. Not a bunch of firebenders utilizing their fire bending in many unique ways against Aang and the Blue Spirit. Just ''[[FightSceneFailure one random fireball]]'' that they shoot at them several times.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU1hYgGcosA "HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"]] They obviously meant it to be dramatic, but it fell short of that and just sounded like a walrus' mating call [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic meant to lure everyone into a false sense of hilarity.]] Alternatively, seeing as Waterbenders get their power from the moon, one could easily interpret that they are actually werewolves due to this war cry...
** [[WebVideo/CinemaSins "That's a battle cry Little Richard would've come up with."]]
* Due to the difference between American and British English, "I could tell at once that you were a bender, and that you would realize your destiny..." has very different connotations.
** [[spoiler: [[DontExplainTheJoke If you're curious]], the word "bender" in Britain is slang for "homosexual".]]
* In the animated series, when Zuko arrives at the Water Tribe, he specifically states he's looking for the Avatar, who would be around Gran-gran's age. How does he convey this here? By simply shouting, "BRING ME ALL YOUR ELDERLY!!!" It just comes off as him having a fetish for elderly people.
** [[Podcast/{{Rifftrax}} "I need their Preparation H for my face-owies!"]]
* When trying to convince the Earthbenders to revolt, what reason does Aang give for his being gone for 100 years? "I ran away, but I'm back now." It's almost as if the scriptwriter couldn't think of anything good for Aang to say in this supposedly heroic and inspiring moment.
* Katara shoving a Fire Nation Soldier, and then just standing there for some reason (aka [[FanNickname Ka-tackle]]).
-->'''Fire Nation Soldier:''' (to Aang, in the tone of [[Series/SaturdayNightLive Will Ferrell]] [[Podcast/RiffTrax imitating Robert Goulet]]) The Avatar has to be an airbender. Are you an airbender, boy? (laughs slightly)\
'''Katara:''' (pushes the Fire Nation Soldier) [[http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/cambryn/push.gif Leave him alone!]]
** What makes it even better is how the Fire Nation soldier stumbles back ''way'' too far for what was basically a gentle push. He then decides to ''push her back in retaliation''.
* Before that, "IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO STOP DOING THIS!" Not convincing, Ah-ng.
* One that many people miss is an old man saying "They took away any... tools... related to... bending."
* "[[PunctuatedForEmphasis SOME OF THE GREAT MONKS. CAN MEDITATE. FOR FOUR DAYS.]]"
* Katara's defeat by Zuko. No, she is not in the lead at first and then defeated after the sun is up, ''[[{{Chickification}} she was instantly beaten after two shots.]]'' The funniest part about that scene is that after being defeated, she was instantly whacked into a tree. Cue laughter from the audience.
* Remember when [[spoiler:Zuko's ship got blown up]]? In the movie version, Iroh, who was busy having his foot massaged, simply pushes his masseuse aside and shouts "ZUKO!!!!" with his hands way up.
* And then right after [[spoiler:Princess Yue's sacrifice]], the moon finally returned. This was supposed to be a moment of hope, and ''then'' a Northern Water Tribe villager starts shoving a Fire Nation soldier to the ground, instead of doing some water whip or something. Not only this is unintentionally hilarious, this scene completely misses the point of connecting the moon with Waterbending.
* The ending, [[spoiler:right before the Azula stinger]], was supposed to be an epic bowing down scene à la ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings''. Instead, we see Aang doing some weird pose with an expression that screams "I need to pee, dammit!".
* One of the deleted scenes starts with the stupidity of Sokka hitting a Fire Nation mook on the ass with his boomerang, Katara's wooden acting, and the dancing. My God, the dancing. And then the crew wanders into the shot.
* In a deleted scene, Katara takes down a Fire Nation Mook by [[WrestlerInAllOfUs flipping him by his arm]]. Katara is a ''13-year old girl''.
* Zuko's appearance at the spirit oasis. With a giant torch. Enough said.
* When Zhao [[spoiler: fights Zuko,]] he does this Firebending move that basically involves first a lot of spinning, and then him cupping his hands by his chest and thrusting outwards. MAN-BOOB BLAST! And to deflect the attack, [[spoiler: Iroh]] puts both of his hands in front of him and the fire parts to both sides. Any possible awesomeness is ruined by the fact that he looks kind of like an Indian Moses.
* "YOU'RE LYING!"
** The BigNo Aang lets out when he finds Gyatso's corpse. Big Nos don't necessarily have to be narmy, but this is a pretty good example of how it can ruin an otherwise sad moment.
* At first, the Fire Lord is only seen from the back (weird enough, but whatever). Later we get a full conversation with him that's filmed normally. Three quarters of the way through the movie the director apparently forgets that we've already seen Ozai's face and returns to focusing on the back of his chair.
* There's a scene (Same conversation from the example above) where Zhao is chatting to Ozai about potential ways to kill the water spirits. The conversation trails off really awkwardly, as though they've forgotten their lines, and then Ozai just [[SpikingTheCamera stares at the camera]] for several seconds. How that didn't require a reshoot is one of the mysteries of the ages.
* While [[MemeticMutation fans exaggerated it a bit]], Zhao mentions the "secret library" enough times that it basically turns into an OpenSecret. Something that was mysterious in the show instead became a huge source of unintentional comedy in the movie thanks to this.
* "We were forced under [[CaptainObvious the water of the ocean]]."
* Aang randomly saying "We could be friends, you know." after [[spoiler: freeing Zuko's head from the ice Katara trapped him in to allow him to breathe.]] It comes completely out of nowhere and makes no sense as he originally said a similar thing after freeing Zuko as the Blue Spirit in the show, and it's never brought up again.
* When Zuko arrives at the Southern Water Tribe, Sokka tells Katara that "the Fire Nation is here with their machines" twice in ten seconds. Not only is it redundant, not only is it incredibly awkward phrasing, but Zuko and his crew ''don't even have any machines'' unless you count their ship.
* Before the battle at the Northern Water Tribe, one of the soldiers suggests putting out all their torches so the firebenders can't use them. A solid tactic, considering how firebending works in this universe... but come the actual battle and ''all the torches are still lit''. The suggested tactic is never brought up for why it wasn't followed or anything, making it seem like they came up with a plan and then just ''forgot to do it''.
* Aang's escape from Zuko's warship, where he uses his Airbending to vault onto the table, over Zuko and Iroh's heads and out through the door. This would normally be pretty cool, however the complex Airbending technique Aang uses to simply blast himself backwards takes so long to perform that it probably would've been easier for him to just run out of the room. What makes it so much worse is Zuko and Iroh just standing there doing ''absolutely nothing'' whilst Aang is taking several seconds to make his escape instead of trying to stop him.
* And for a quick summary of this page, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbi7xUd5TPc the movie's greatest hits]].
