1	With this movie being released during the 50th anniversary of the franchise, there are bound to be plenty of references both to the 1985 series and other Scooby Doo media.

3	* Daphne has purple eyes, the same color she had in ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated''. In the first four DTV movies, they were blue/green.
4	* Daphne goes through an outfit change and becomes TheLeader of the group during this movie. She underwent the same thing in ''The 13 Ghosts''. During the outfit change, her hair also briefly changes to how it was during that series.
5	* Shaggy is wearing a red shirt (though it's a Hawaiian one, not a plain one) when the Gang finds Van Ghoul's crystal orb. Shaggy wore a red shirt in the 1980s movies as well as in ''The 13 Ghosts''. Scooby however did wear a Hawaiian shirt in the first episode of the 13 Ghosts -- as he, Scooby and Scrappy were trying to fly to Hawaii -- and does so again here.
6	* In Daphne's room she has a framed photo of the gang unmasking the Moat Monster from ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooOnZombieIsland''.
7	* Daphne looks through her closet and finds one of the outfits she wore in 13 Ghosts. She chooses not to wear that one but chooses a wholly new outfit. She also styles her hair just like how she wore in 13 Ghosts too before changing it.
8	* Fred is forced to sell the Mystery Machine and they end up getting a red van that Daphne drives instead. In ''The 13 Ghosts'', since Fred and the Mystery Machine weren't around, they were replaced by Daphne and the red van. Daphne stepping up as the group's leader and driver is also what happened in the show.
9	* When the red van crashes into the water, Daphne pulls out the inflatable rubber ducky from the 13 Ghosts series.
10	* Shaggy is the one to fly Vincent Van Ghoul's plane as this was of course also true when he flew the Mystery Flying Machine in 13 Ghosts. Daphne also reminds them that their first time coming down they didn't get to see everything clearly because they were crash landing.
11	* Flim Flam still has the vaccu-spook and plenty of bottles of Lots of Luck Joy Juice. The fact that they're packed in the plane is probably a reference of using it as fuel at the end of the first episode.
12	* Asmodeus shape shifts into the gestalt form the demons take in the first episode briefly during the chase scene.
13	* Velma drops the line "someone is going to release 13 of the most dangerous ghosts on the face of the earth". The last part was said by Vincent Van Ghoul in the original series. Although as mentioned above it is a weirdly phrased one.
14	* Flim Flam actually references Scrappy Doo as to point out he's not present. Velma then asks [[DiscontinuityNod "What's a Scrappy?"]] before anyone else can respond the plot moves on.
15	* As the plane flies off, Flim Flam says "So long sports-fans". A line he said in the original show.
16	* Vincent Van Ghoul was an InkSuitActor character based on the real Creator/VincentPrice, here Van Ghoul's flashbacks are done in black and white with his appearance based on the younger Vincent Price. Together it makes them look like a classic Vincent Price horror picture.
17	* The opening credits has Vincent Van Ghoul reciting a poem going through the past events of the series. Included: Scooby and Shaggy opening the chest, the gang being chased by werewolf Daphne, the Himalayan temple, Vincent Van Ghoul's castle, the caves from "Me and My Shadow Demon", Maldor's face and the dragon, the Shadow Demon, the gang running through Marakesh, Reflector Specter coming out of his mirror, Marsella in her wind form and the black book of spells, the killer clock of Time Slime, a comic page featuring Demondo and Shaggy in his red shirt, the gang sucking up the cyclone gestalt in the vaccu-spook (though that's not how it was done in the show) and shadows of Rankor, Professor Phantazmo and Zimbulu being sucked into the Chest of Demons.
18	* Daphne mentions that Vincent stays in his castle during the winter, stating he's a "snow bird". Vincent mostly stayed in the Himalayas.
19	* During the musical chase scene Scooby gets a quick nod to his moment of bravery in "Never Ape an Ape Man" where he bounces on the elastic line and gets a few good mid-air punches in on a confused Asmodeus.
