Municipal Waste are a crossover ThrashMetal band formed in Virginia in 2000, influenced by other crossover bands like Music/SuicidalTendencies and Music/DirtyRottenImbeciles.

Their first show was at a Richmond New Year's Eve Keg party in 2000/2001. The band was blamed for inciting a small riot. Following the release of ''Waste 'Em All'', both Andy Harris and Brandon Trache left the band, being replaced by drummer Dave Witte and bassist "[=LandPhil=]", both of whom, had since then stuck with the band for almost a decade. Afterwards, they signed onto Earache for ''Hazardous Mutation''.

After a tour with Destruction, they began to work on ''The Art of Partying'', following another tour with The Haunted and spots at Wacken Open Air in Germany and Reading and Leeds Festivals. They also went on the road with Music/SuicidalTendencies. Coincidentally, they began to hit acclaim with their 2007 effort.

!!Unleash The Tropes:
* AnimatedMusicVideo: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtOyqrNPzsY You're Cut Off]]
* BarBrawl: "You're Cut Off" features one of these which starts with a man hitting a girl with a beer bottle as soon as the band starts playing [[SerialEscalation as it causes several other fights to start throughout the video, leading to what seems to be a SWAT team coming in and the venue being destroyed utterly due to the violence.]]
%%* [[ThrashMetal Crossover Thrash]]
* {{Gorn}}: Pretty much all of their videos have this, especially in "You're Cut Off" and "Fatal Feast".
%%* HeavyMeta
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: "Unleash the Bastards" has this trope in it's lyrics, as the song talks about mechanized killers created for war annihilating everything in it's path, including the ones that created them.
* LeadBassist: Hall is a type B and C, being the backing vocalist as well as the face of his side project, Cannabis Corpse, due to being the lead vocalist for that band.
* LighterAndSofter: The lyrics are rather light-hearted and comedic on a comparative scale, [[NightmareFuel though some lyrics on their older material come off as rather disturbing,]] [[DarkerAndEdgier and are not funny at all.]]
* MinisculeRocking: "Death Prank" is their shortest song, being only 11 seconds. Some of the other songs off ''Waste Em All'' aren't much longer either, with the total length being less than 20 minutes.
** The other albums aren't really exempt from this, either.
* PepTalkSong: "Guilty of Being Tight"
* TheStoner: All of them, but especially Phil. "Yeah man, I took down this massive joint with Phil Hall once" is a sentence that you're guaranteed to hear from quite a few metal fans.
** As noted with Phil's side project Cannabis Corpse, which is literally about weed.
