Shut Up Sidney is a political punk rock band local to Houston, Texas. They have been active for nearly four years now with a somewhat turbulent line-up. They share much in-common musically with bands birthed by the first and second-waves of punk rock, such as the Sex Pistols, the Exploited, Discharge, and so on, though they also boast a pointed political bent more in the vain of acts like the Dead Kennedys and/or D.O.A.

!!This band provides examples of:

* AllergictoRoutine: "Monotony"
* ClusterFBomb: The chorus of "Perry".
** CountryMatters: Also used quite liberally in the chorus of "Perry"
* CorruptChurch: "Battlecry"
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Rupert Murdoch is painted as such in "Rupert Murdoch's America"
** John Riccitiello as well in "E.A. Sucks"
* CoverVersion: The band has covered "Breaking the Law" by Music/JudasPriest, "Halloween" by the Misfits, "Sex and Violence" by the Exploited, and "Burning the Cross" by Mercyful Fate
* DirtyCommunists: Present in the band's imagery, though WordofGod says their message is more geared towards libertarian socialism.
* DyeHard: Steven and Edgar
* EpicRocking: "Battlecry" just makes the epic rocking cut, clocking-in at just over six minutes.
* EvilLaugh: Steven Blind pulls one off at the end of his EvilGloating as Ron Luce in "Battlecry"
* GodwinsLaw: Invoked via "Battlecry", which denounces youth-pastor Ron Luce and his Teen Mania/Battlecry organizations as militant fascists, even going as far as to directly various slogans of the Third Reich throughout the song's lyrics.
* IntentionallyAwkwardTitle: "... And Then the World Raped Itself"
* LargeHam: Steven Blind has his moments.
* LastChorusSlowDown: Perry, though it's technically the second-to-last chorus.
* LoudnessWar: "... And Then the World Raped Itself"
* MachineMonotone" Steven goes into this towards the end of "Monotony".
* MinisculeRocking: "THEM!" and "E.A. Sucks", both lasting just about a minute or so.
* MotorMouth: Present on a few songs, particularly "Osamasong".
* PunctuatedForEmphasis:
--> "JEAN! CLAUDE! (J-C-V-D!) VAN! DAMME! (J-C-V-D!)
* PrecisionFStrike: "Rick Perry, you're a FUCKING CUNT!"
* ProtestSong: A sizable lot of their material.
* SelfPlagiarism: The chorus of "Cervantes" sounds quite similar to the main riff from "Roller Derby"
* SingerNameDrop: The band's name is quelled from a quip of Johnny Rotten's towards Sid Vicious during an interview. It is sampled at the beginning of "Osamasong", effectively starting the first record.
* SpellingSong: "S.I.D."
* StageNames: All the bandmembers tend to get these.
* TakeThat: They've a good few of these...
* TestosteronePoisoning: Parodied with "A Real Man"
* TitleOnlyChorus: "Roller Derby"
* TheSomethingSong: "Osamasong"
* ThreeChordsandtheTruth: Every now and then, though it's often averted as, while their compositions are generally kept simple, they can branch-out now and then.
