In Act 3, he accidentally bumps into Usagi and gets a vision of Princess Serenity. In Act 5, Artemis gives Mamoru a tie tack that will channel his powers into a more "manageable form", specifically allow him to attack with them, but since that's the last strip, the audience doesn't know how this would've played out.
