-->--''The in-game description. [[invoked]][[FanonDiscontinuity Just ignore that last part.]]''

A lot of fanmade characters can garner significant levels of traction both inside and outside of their respective fanbases. Only one, however, got big enough to have her own Website/{{Wikipedia}} [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowsette article]]. (So far.)

[[https://youtu.be/CRuHg1dv8MI?t=671 It all started]] one fine WebVideo/NintendoDirect on September 13, 2018. Announcements included ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion3'', long-awaited [[PolishedPort ports]] of several formerly Platform/PlayStation-exclusive ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' titles, [[VideoGame/AnimalCrossing Isabelle]] joining ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate'', a teaser for a new ''Animal Crossing'' game (which would be known eventually as ''[[VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewHorizons New Horizons]]'')... with all this rejoice-worthy news, what was yet another Platform/WiiU title getting ported over to the Platform/NintendoSwitch, ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU'' in this case, would have gone virtually unnoticed if not for one little detail: Not only would Toadette get PromotedToPlayable, but she also came with an exclusive PowerUp called the [[CoolCrown "Super Crown"]], which would turn her into a Princess Peach lookalike named "Peachette".

At first, it was just the ''Mario'' fan-base [[EpilepticTrees exploring what such a power-up means]] for the ''Mario'' setting as a whole, or wondering what would happen if the Mario Bros, other Toads, or even folks like Bowser used Toadette's Super Crown...

...But ''then'' the idea of Bowser using the Super Crown inspired UsefulNotes/{{Malaysia}}n artist [=Ayyk92=] to draw a comic ([[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1042465252221181954 Twitter link]], [[https://www.deviantart.com/ayyk92/art/Super-Crown-764645204 DeviantArt link]]) depicting Bowser using the Super Crown, whereupon he is turned into a Peachette-esque woman (using elements from Bowser's design instead of Toadette's), and then hooking up with Mario following ''VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey''[='s=] ending. This comic then promptly ''exploded'', with the internet quickly dubbing the character "Bowsette". FanArt of Bowsette based on her design in the comic (as well as edits of it which retain Bowser's red hair, and alternately also tan skin to represent Bowser's yellow-brown) flooded the internet afterwards, to the point of her becoming an EnsembleDarkhorse in the fandom mere days after her inception. Meanwhile, Japanese fans dubbed her "Kuppa-hime" ("Princess Koopa") after Bowser's Japanese name, which became a top-trending Twitter and Platform/{{Pixiv}} tag in short order.[[note]](To put into perspective how popular Bowsette became little more than a week since she was introduced, the amount of Bowser fan-art on Pixiv at that time numbered to around 3,000, while the amount of Peach fan-art numbered around 5,000. Bowsette, on the other hand, numbered at a whopping 7,000 fan-art pieces. Bowsette got ''more'' fan-art on Pixiv in less than a month since her creation than either Bowser or Peach had gotten up to that point since the website Pixiv was ''founded''. Also of note is, in that same short timeframe, several professional {{manga}} artists joined in and drew their own art of her, including those of ''Manga/DagashiKashi'', ''Manga/TheElderSisterLikeOne'', ''Manga/MissKobayashisDragonMaid'' {whose mangaka Creator/CoolKyouShinsha drew no less than ''nine'' different Bowsette pictures}, ''Anime/{{Tsugumomo}}'', ''Manga/PopTeamEpic'', ''Webcomic/OnePunchMan'' and the manga version of ''Literature/GoblinSlayer'', as well as the character designer for ''Franchise/StreetFighter'' and ''VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}}''.)[[/note]]

The Bowsette comic also quickly spawned another, separate trend of applying the Super Crown to other ''Mario'' characters and common enemies, with most recurring ones having at least one fan-art depicting a Super Crown form, as well as various {{Crossover}}s with other franchises and, of course, other memes.

She has [[https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Mario_references_on_the_Internet#Bowsette a small mention on the]] Super Mario Wiki, [[https://www.gonintendo.com/stories/319222-bowsette-fans-putting-together-project-crown-event-in-japan a fan-run event in Japan called "Project Crown"]], and, as mentioned, she does indeed have a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowsette full-fledged page]] on Website/TheOtherWiki. And of course, she's got a nice [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/peachette-super-crown page]] on one of the more appropriate places, Website/KnowYourMeme.

As with all memes, Bowsette eventually [[DiscreditedMeme faded from the general community]], but two closure-worthy events occured on January 11, 2019. First, [=Ayyk92=] was rewarded with a glass trophy by Pixiv and Platform/NicoNicoDouga, as Bowsette had placed 16th in Japan's Twitter Trend Awards. [[http://haniwahead.tumblr.com/post/181931476489/haha-they-actually-did-it-the-guys-at-niconico Yes, really.]] Second, on the same day, ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU Deluxe'' released... including its in-game confirmation that only Toadette can wear the Super Crown, finally [[{{Jossed}} jossing]] all the original fan theories and speculation that started this in the first place.[[note]](This also managed to [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/trans-luigi spawn a brand-new meme]] in the process, albeit a smaller and largely unrelated one.)[[/note]]

[[PopularityPolynomial Of course]], don't let that mislead you into thinking she's ''completely'' gone or forgotten, as she's still fondly remembered by some and still gets fanart, albeit not as much as she used to. There's even an ongoing webcomic about her that has its own page, ''WebComic/BowsetteSaga''. Perhaps unsurprisingly, any new Bowser-related material tends to inspire an upsurge in Bowsette fanart, for example Doug [[JustForFun/OneMarioLimit Bowser]] becoming Nintendo of America's CEO, the release of ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld + Bowser's Fury'' with its new "Fury Bowser" form, or the announcement that Creator/JackBlack would play Bowser in ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosMovie'' (that one got [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/jack-black-bowsette its own Know Your Meme page]]).

[[foldercontrol]]
[[folder:The Super Crown phenomenon as a whole]]
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In Rariatto's ''Manga/SuperMarioKun'' parody, Bowser uses the Super Crown to wreak havoc before Toadette ever found it. Peach gives it her for safekeeping after Bowser is subdued, setting up its use in ''New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe''.
* AdaptationalJerkass: Comics where Bowsette is presented as the better option usually have Peach revealed to be an AttentionWhore, upset with both Bowser and Mario since they don't need a reason to pursue her anymore. Occasionally Mario is given the same treatment, as he would be shown to pursue anything that looks like Peach regardless of what they actually are; she and Bowsette are so disgusted they drop him, getting together instead.
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Before Nintendo's ObviousRulePatch, the Super Crown received a lot of this.
* AlwaysFemale: Usually agreed to be the case for Super Crown wearers, due to the power-up's connection to Princess Peach (and, well, MaleGaze).
* BestKnownForTheFanservice: Arguably, this is the reason it blew up so much and lasted as long as it did. The fan-art generally outshined jokes related to the trend, for starters.
* CuteMonsterGirl: Just about every Super Crown wearer qualifies.
* CrownOfPower: Toadette's Super Crown grants potentially every resident of the Mushroom Kingdom Peach's form and abilities [[MorphicResonance on top of their own]].
* DemotedToExtra: Toadette, the original Super Crown wearer, usually shows up to either get the Crown stolen from her or lend it out to curious prospects, if she's not trying to keep it to herself or destroy it.
* DependingOnTheArtist: Considering Bowsette and her ilk are all fan-characters, it comes with the territory. Further details are in each character's individual sections.
** The most popular depiction is blonde hair and light skin, but red hair and tanned skin (to better reflect Bowser's usual appearance) is also common.
* DifferentForGirls: Several comics have Bowsette kidnapping Peach so that Peach can help her with her clothes, or her nails, [[MenstrualMenace or the bleeding...]]
* DiscreditedMeme: Naturally because of its oversaturation within the populace, this has led to the obvious ItsPopularNowItSucks and HypeBacklash knee-jerk reaction amongst certain people (especially those whom don't enjoy Rule63 or Rule34). It became not exactly uncommon for there to be ''a lot'' of fan art, animations, and even memes of the characters from the ''Super Mario'' verse to try and dispose of the Crown for all the trouble it's caused. With the reasons for its destruction or the character(s) that destroy it tending to differ but have a common goal at least. Although for humor's sake, there's sometimes a chance where the attempt to destroy the Crown tends to backfire spectacularly.[[invoked]]
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Some versions of the Crown keep the idea that anyone who wears it will turn human and feminine, but twist it so they're still male underneath. One particular comic had it done to Toad.
** Some drawings of the Koopalings have Wendy (being the [[TheSmurfettePrinciple only girl]] on the team) fall victim to this in order to reverse the gender balance.
* {{Fanon}}: The whole thing owes its existence to fanon!
* FanonDiscontinuity: Officially, only Toadette can wear the Super Crown.[[note]](The other characters of ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU Deluxe'' won't transform if they touch the Super Crown, instead getting a 10-coin bonus.)[[/note]] Of course, that's not going to stop anyone. It also doesn't help that the confirmation was within the game itself, released after the meme had already subsided.
* FountainOfExpies: The sheer popularity of Bowsette led to an onslaught of other Mario villains getting the same treatment in fanworks.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: Bowsette, Peachyboo, and the like have caught the eye of many fans all over the world. Take note of how they have particularly hit a sweet spot with UsefulNotes/{{Japan}}.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** The original fan comic that spawned Bowsette was a riff on the ending to ''VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey'', [[spoiler:having Bowser (as Bowsette) and Mario hook up after getting rejected]]. One week later, the art-book of that game is found to contain a small concept comic of Bowser using an EvilKnockoff of Cappy to capture Peach, which turns her into a Peach/Bowser hybrid.
** Considering some gags like to have everyone but [[WholesomeCrossdresser Luigi]] turn into Peach (Luigi himself just showing up in a Peach costume), the in-game text specifically singling him out as someone who can't use the Super Crown ended up being consistent with that interpretation.
** Upon the announcement of ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosWonder'', [=Ayyk92=] made [[https://www.tumblr.com/haniwahead/729267997998448640/ a comic]] about Bowsette disturbed by the power of the Elephant Fruit. Some time later, Nintendo would put out a [[https://twitter.com/Nintendo/status/1711916074701312475 short]] where Bowser's reaction to Elephant Peach is shown: in a role-reversal of Peach's typical attraction to Bowsette in comics, he's enamored by the transformation.
* HotterAndSexier: While Bowsette's usual design itself isn't much more than "Peach in black", it's not much of a stretch to assume Bowser's personality in Peach's body would make for a ShamelessFanserviceGirl. The trope becomes much more apparent with other Super Crown wearers.
* HumbleBeginnings: [=Ayyk92=] was a very small artist with no particularly notable works. [[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1043855759904202752 Then he created Bowsette.]]
* HumanityEnsues: Obviously, although PlayedWith since the premise is to make a Princess Peach clone. Varies by artist, though; most designs will have the end result look like a princess or wear a dress at the very least, but in some cases it will just be more of a straightforward human transformation with the AlwaysFemale aspect being the only remnant.
* HypeBacklash: Due to the copious amounts of [[Rule34 explicit fanart]] that flooded the internet, Bowsette quickly became associated with porn and little more. To this day the meme is derided for it, although Bowsette had and still has plenty of fans who emphasize the meme's wholesome qualities.[[note]](In addition, of course, to those who never had a problem with the pornographic fanart to begin with.)[[/note]]
* LateArrivalSpoiler: As mentioned above, knowing the full context of Bowsette's inception requires one to know the ending of ''Super Mario Odyssey'', [[spoiler:in which Mario and Bowser vying for Peach's affection descends into a petty argument, prompting the princess to [[DumpThemAll turn down the both of them]]]].
* MeaningfulReleaseDate: Whether by coincidence or not, [=Ayyk92=] received his aforementioned trophy on the launch date of ''New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe''.
* MemeticLoser:
** Peachette was overshadowed almost immediately upon the birth of the fan characters her PowerUp inspired. In the rare occasions where people remember she exists at all, she is usually portrayed as upset, heartbroken, or just annoyed at the sheer scale of her stolen spotlight. Some even say she was upstaged twice in the same meme, given that the most popular jokes were about Peach's reactions rather than hers. And if someone does remember Peachette, 9 times out of 10, it's only to say she never should've worn the Crown in the first place, because then Bowser wouldn't have gotten to it.
** As mentioned, Princess Peach is this, consistently confused about the Super Crown phenomenon and (like in the original comic that inspired the meme) getting passed up by Mario for Bowsette/other Super Crown wearers.
* MemeticMutation: Where this all came from. Some sub-memes:
** "If Bowser turned into Peach, then who's ruling the Koopa Kingdom?" Naturally, this led to Peach getting her own item that [[InvertedTrope turns her into Bowser]].
** The ''VideoGame/Splatoon2'' character Pearl is a squid-girl who wears a crown. Images have cropped up of her actually being a Blooper who put the Super Crown on and/or encountering a Blooper wearing the Crown.
*** Similarly, many joke about Franchise/{{Kirby}} trying on the Super Crown and becoming [[VideoGame/DragonBallFighterz Android 21]].
*** Never-mind the idea of what would happen if [[DivideByZero Peach herself]] [[UltimateLifeform wore the Super Crown]]. Some people will respond with comparisons to [[Manga/{{Akira}} Tetsuo]] or [[Anime/DragonBallZ Perfect Cell]], others will respond with one of the earlier fan theories and say [[TomatoInTheMirror she already is]] (one comic even shows Peach reverting back into a Toad after removing her Crown).
** People jokingly asking "Is that your Bowsette OC?" to pictures of Peachette or asking "But what if Toadette got the Super Crown?" Alternatively, portraying Toadette as jealous or upset that she got her spotlight stolen. ([[Memes/{{Nasuverse}} Isn't it sad, Toadette?]])
** Antagonizing the Super Crown InUniverse. Many people depict characters (especially Peach) as disliking it for various reasons (sometimes meta, sometimes not). However, if said characters attempt to actually destroy the Crown, it inevitably [[GoneHorriblyWrong goes horribly wrong]] and humanizes yet another thing, [[RealitySubtext alluding to the meme's unfaltering popularity]]. The Bourgyman of ''Webcomic/The3LittlePrincesses'' fame gives us [[https://twitter.com/thebourgyman/status/1044278141789843457 this example]] where [[spoiler:Mario and Peach try to dispose of the Super Crown with a LavaPit, only to accidentally create a "Lava-ette"]].
** VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}} [[https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/436/438/497.png is just]] [[BuffySpeak Bowsette]] Creator/HideoKojima.
*** Hideo Kojima + Super Crown = [[https://twitter.com/kajinman1/status/1138195044928806914 Ikumi Nakamura]].
* MemeAcknowledgement: Creator/{{Nintendo}} is aware of Bowsette, but they "have no comment". Later {{Subverted}} within the game itself, wherein the item's description brings up Luigi rather than Bowser.[[note]](It's a ContinuityNod to the times Luigi has dressed up as Peach. Any Bowsette-related implications could very well be a coincidence, but there's no saying for certain.)[[/note]]
* MilestoneCelebration:
** [=Ayyk92=] celebrated Bowsette's 1-year anniversary with a [[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1170395577202294784 whole]] [[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1171085859283558400 slew]] [[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1171085867202383872 of]] [[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1172852959333376000 new]] [[https://twitter.com/ayyk92/status/1174007349268209664 comics]].
** Ayyk also drew [[https://www.deviantart.com/ayyk92/art/Bowsette-3rd-Anniversary-Comic-892941731 an alternate origin comic]] for her third anniversary.
* MsFanservice: A recurring element of most Super Crown wearers is that they end up being drawn with much more explicitly alluring elements than Peach or Peachette. Bowsette and Booette's dresses have much more revealing elements, such as having prominent cleavage windows to emphasize their bigger chest sizes.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Super Crown wearers in general are often drawn with a large bust.
* NonIndicativeName: A common complaint is that "Bowsette" is actually a misnomer, since Peachette's name results from Toad'''ette''' being transformed into Peach. Following this naming scheme, something like "Peachser" would be a more accurate name for Bowser transformed into Peach, while "Bowsette" would instead refer to Toadette transformed into Bowser. Nevertheless, the name "Bowsette" rolls off the tongue better, so it stuck. This also resulted in the equally-troublesome "[Character]ette" naming convention for other Super Crown wearers (but some of them do have more appropriate alternative names).
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: [[https://twitter.com/DreaminErryDay/status/1045168912617345024 Dreamin's version]] has Mario encounter Bowsette in a castle, take a look at her, and chop the bridge away as usual, to her surprise.
* OneSteveLimit:
** Using the non-indicative "ette" naming scheme, Peachette's name looks like a potential transformation for Peach herself. Unfortunately, it led to some mean-spirited jokes where Peachette is accused of having no identity beyond being a Peach clone.
*** One example who doesn't use the naming convention is Pon-Pon, a LetsPlay/ProtonJon alt who received the Bowsette treatment (her name instead uses a different naming convention).
** To avoid accidentally running into this with Toad, his transformation is typically referred to as "Princess Toad" in all languages.
* PlanetOfHats:
** [[https://youtu.be/81JMVnI-qpA This animated short]], from the creator of ''WebAnimation/KingdumbHearts'', has Bowser mistake so many Super Crown wearers for Peach, that Mario attempts to turn everyone in Peach's castle, including himself, into her {{Body Double}}s. [[spoiler:By the end of the cartoon, every''thing'' in the Mushroom Kingdom has also become a Peach doppelgänger, as well as the whole planet.]][[note]](The Super Crown turns out to have no effect on Daisy, already a human princess, and changes the real Peach into a Toad.)[[/note]]
** [[https://33dot.tumblr.com/post/178413962315/since-everyone-has-been-drawing-that-kuppa-hime This comic]] starts off in a world where everyone's already been turned into a Peach clone (save Luigi, who gets turned into Daisy instead).
* PunnyName: Aside from the "[Character]ette" naming convention, Super Crown users are usually named this way.
* Rule63: PlayedWith, in that it's based on turning characters into AlwaysFemale Peach lookalikes and not a straightforward GenderBender. That said, how much they actually resemble Peach can vary depending on the artist; many designs don't bother trying to resemble her but still keep a general "princess" theme, but some won't even have that, which for already-human characters often becomes more of a straight gender change.
* RuleOfSexy: Often how Super Crown wearers are designed. Obviously, this is at odds with having designs based off of Princess Peach, so it's very much a balancing act. Ironically, this was hardly the case at all with [=Ayyk92=]'s original comic.[[note]]([=Ayyk92=] only made Bowsette "sexier" in two ways: First, Peach's shoulders aren't exposed while Bowsette's are. This is fine, since Peach's wedding dress does expose her shoulders, as does Rosalina's usual gown. Second, Peach's breasts are only indicated through the shape of her figure, whereas Bowsette's have a line separating them. This is arguably fine as well, since Rosalina does a similar thing in 3D, but regardless it's a very minor detail. Of course, SelfFanservice is in full force here, so much of the art beyond [=Ayyk92=]'s feature things Nintendo wouldn't allow, such as [[AdaptationalCurves larger breasts]] or ''truly'' HotterAndSexier outfits.)[[/note]]
* ScrewYourself: It's common to combine the effects of this power-up with the Double Cherry from ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld'' to accomplish this.
* SpearCounterpart: Smaller but noble efforts to see what a male version of the Crown would do sprung up in the wake of the meme.
** As mentioned above, one popular version inverts it to make Peach turn into a Koopa (typically a "Super Shell" or a Bowser-colored version of the Crown), though others decide it turns her into a redheaded PrinceCharming instead. A version with a [[https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/3263592?q=Toadette+pun+status%3Adeleted Bowser-like choker]] was used for a joke showing what a "''real'' Bowsette" would look like (i.e. [[PunnyName Toadette turning into the Koopa King]]).
** One user thought of what basically amount to [[https://twitter.com/alpha00zero/status/1043971743134691329 "Super Caps"]], which turn the user (in this case, a Toad and a Polterpup) into Mario or Luigi clones with MorphicResonance. It helps that a similar power-up did actually appear in ''VideoGame/SuperMario64 DS'', only without the Morphic Resonance.
* StatuesqueStunner: Usually most of the transformed are significantly taller than Mario, due to having transformed from large monsters themselves. For example, Bowsette frequently is drawn as around Bowser's regular height of around twice Mario's height.
* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: It's baffling that there's so little art of fellow female Toads turning into Peach clones. There are plenty of examples from the ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' series, for example. One of the more notable comics about the phenomenon, ''Bowsette Saga'', did make an effort to show what the Crown's effects on a Toad would look like... but just had that Toad turn into a ''Toadette'' clone instead, sidestepping the implications.

!!Super Crown characters
[[folder:Princess Peach]]
->'''Original Form:''' [[WildMassGuessing In theory,]] a Toad
What if the Princess Peach we know is just a powered-up form, similar to Peachette?
----
* ACupAngst: Sometimes depicted as being jealous of Bowsette having bigger breasts than her, like [[https://www.deviantart.com/minacream/art/Peachette-4koma-2-Big-Questions-766387507 here]].
* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Inverted, as the the purpose of this form is to see what she'd look like ''without'' the Crown.
* BecomingTheMask:
** One interpretation has her as one of the many castle Toads in World 8 of the original ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros1'', putting it on so she can give the Mushroom Kingdom a ruler again. As the years pass, she grows into her role and is effectively the real Peach from then on.
** Another has her simply as the Toad ruler of the kingdom who uses the Crown as her public persona, but kept up the disguise for so long she considers the princess form as her true self.
* DependingOnTheWriter: Is she ashamed of her Toad heritage or proud? Did she do it for political purposes, personal reasons, or for fun? Do the Mario Bros. know, and how accepting of her are they if or when they find out?
* MeaningfulName: Her last name isn't '''Toad'''stool for nothing. Similarly, abbreviating it as "Peach T." fits in with the pun-based ThemeNaming for Toads in the ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' series.
* MorphicResonance: Some interpretations give Peach's Toad form a pink dress-like costume and blonde hair under her mushroom cap, implying this is retained in her princess form.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Being the "basis" of how the Crown works, her princess form doesn't add anything different to her design. The real challenge is figuring out her Toad form.
* TomatoInTheMirror
* YuriFan: In one comic, a poorly-disguised Peach sells a doujin about herself and Bowsette at a convention.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Bowsette]]
->'''Original Form:''' [[Characters/SuperMarioBrosBowser Bowser]]
The Koopa King transformed into a Princess Peach {{Expy}}, and the IncitingIncident for this whole trend.
----
* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: The original Bowsette comic by [=Ayyk92=] depicted her being with Mario at the end of it. While most people interpret this as them becoming a couple, it could be simply that they were [[OperationJealousy trying to make Peach jealous]]. There are questions about if Bowser would really turn into a girl just to date Mario or if he is still in love with Peach. It really depends on if you think Bowser/Bowsette just wanted anyone to love them or if they wanted Peach specifically.
* BeYourself: An [[https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=71048367 unofficial continuation]] of the original comic has her use the form to propose to Mario. Like Peach, he gives off a BigNo... then takes the Crown off, wanting to start a relationship with the ''real'' Bowser. It works out.
* ClosetKey:
** Peach in some art is shown to be very ''distracted'' around Bowsette. Even in some jealousy art, it's Mario she is jealous of.
** For Mario as well, who finds himself falling for his once-eternal frenemy, though it's very complicated as to how it works and very NSFW to talk about.
* CuteLittleFangs: There are many comics that show her with these.
* DependingOnTheArtist:
** Does Bowsette have Peach's blonde hair and complexion, or is she a dark-skinned redhead, or is she a RedheadInGreen as in the ''Super Mario Odyssey'' art-book? How much "thicker" is she than Peach? Does she have Peach's build or is she an AmazonianBeauty? Does she have a tail? How revealing is her dress?
** What exactly are her sexuality and preferences now? Does she still desire Peach? Has she fallen for Mario? And let's not even get started on what it means when she and other transformed characters get together.
* DistractedByMyOwnSexy: The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81JMVnI-qpA short]] linked under PlanetOfHats above has one part in which a mirror sidetracks Bowsette from attempting to kidnap Peach. [[spoiler:Bowsette goes after her reflection, instead, but only ends up with mirror shards [[EyeScream in the eyes]].]]
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Commonplace to see fan art that has Peach fall for Bowsette, [[PityTheKidnapper sometimes to Bowsette's horror]].
* EvilWearsBlack: Whether a PimpedOutDress or BlackBraAndPanties, Bowsette always wears this color unless the artist is going with her ''Odyssey'' art-book colors.
* GiantWoman: Given both Bowser's official {{Sizeshifter}} abilities and [[YourSizeMayVary his inconsistently-portrayed size outside of those abilities]] throughout the ''Mario'' franchise's mainline games and spinoffs, many artists have used these as the basis for pictures depicting a giantess Bowsette, sometimes replacing Bowser in the situations of the games where he's bigger than the playable characters. For example, [[https://www.deviantart.com/swordwaltzworks/art/Giant-Bowsette-765340260 this picture by SwordwaltzWORKS]] seats a massive Bowsette on the [[CoolChair giant throne]] Bowser sits on in his galaxies in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy2''.
* HornedHumanoid: A constant feature of Bowsette is the horns.
* LittleBitBeastly: Most portrayals of Bowsette retain Bowser's signature tail, horns, and shell on a human-like body.
* LGBTFanbase: As one of the most iconic and fearsome {{Final Boss}}es in gaming with the body of a PrettyPrincessPowerhouse, Bowsette is always depicted with an air of confidence in her voluptuous looks, making her a potential EscapistCharacter for UsefulNotes/{{trans|gender}} women.
* MorphicResonance: Bowsette always retains Bowser's shell, horns, and [[SpikesOfVillainy spiked bands]], with optional features including a tail, [[EvilRedhead red hair]], and a little more meat on her bones.
* JustForFun/OneMarioLimit: On February 21, 2019, Reggie Fils-Aime announced that he would be retiring from President of Nintendo of America. Softening the blow was that his position would be superseded by... Doug [[IronicName Bowser]]. Cue jokes about Bowser trending on Twitter. '''Cue "Doug Bowsette" trending on Twitter.'''[[note]](In reality a majority of the tweets were of people commenting on the fact that it was trending, making it more of a SelfFulfillingProphecy, but rest assured there were plenty of Doug Bowsette images making the rounds.)[[/note]]
* ParentalSubstitute: [[https://www.instagram.com/p/BoJJvsog2KF/?taken-by=super_lightweight_industries This comic]] shows Bowser becoming Bowsette to fill in for Bowser Jr.'s MissingMom.
* PityTheKidnapper: Some fan art and web comics depict Peach falling for Bowsette, Bowsette finds Peach's attention to be too aggressive and begs for Mario to save her, like in this [[https://www.deviantart.com/bakki/art/Save-me-767090887 comic]], much to Mario's confusion.
* PrincessesRule: At least in the Japanese side, in which she is called Koopa-Hime which translates to Princess Koopa. This is despite the fact she still rules the Koopa Kingdom by herself and thus would be seen as the queen.
* RedheadInGreen: Bowser Peach (a Captured version of Peach taken from the ''Super Mario Odyssey'' artbook regarded as an "official" Bowsette) has this color scheme.
* RemovableShell: Bowser's shell is pretty much decorative on Bowsette. According to [[https://www.deviantart.com/ayyk92/art/Bowsette-Doodles-2-767243142 this sketch dump]] by [=Ayyk92=], it's on a hinge!
** A bonus page in the ''Webcomic/BowsetteSaga'' webcomic depicts the shell as removable armor; it even has pockets on the inside to store small items.
* ShowingOffTheNewBody: [[https://www.deviantart.com/ayyk92/art/I-m-bad-and-that-s-good-764989090 This sequel comic]] by [=Ayyk92=] shows Bowsette quietly turning heads at the latest [[WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph Bad-Anon meeting]].
-->'''[[Franchise/StreetFighter Zangief]]:''' [[DidYouGetANewHaircut Did Bowser lose weight?]]
* SleevesAreForWimps: Bowsette's take on Peach's gown typically drops the GiantPoofySleeves.
* VillainSong:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvmnlTBlJW8 "Bowsette - The Song"]] by the French group Starrysky, which is sung from the point of view of Bowsette herself.
--->''I'm done being a kidnapper''\
''I'm a huge hit now with plumbers''\
''In the Kingdom I'd spread terror''\
''Now I'm stalking you on Twitter!''
** The Chalkeaters song [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-FDFsHA20w "Bowsette (Another Castle)"]] downplays the character's "villainous" aspect. Still, kidnapping someone is not a heroic way [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation to get your crush's attention]].

[[folder:Queen Booette / Boosette / Princess Boo / Peachyboo]]
->'''Original Form:''' King Boo or a regular Boo
The most popular Super Crown wearer besides Bowser. If this folder's label didn't make it clear, there's quite a bit of variation on the concept. [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/princess-boo Has a page]] on Know Your Meme.
----
* CuteGhostGirl: As expected from a ghost with Peach's body.
* DependingOnTheArtist: Booette is usually in an EtherealWhiteDress, but the "Peachyboo" variant (which is actually a common Boo instead of King Boo) wears black to contrast her UndeathlyPallor. There's also the question of whether Booette has [[ShowSomeLeg legs]], FogFeet, or both and at least one instance where she takes after Daisy instead of Peach (usually as part of a King Boo scheme to get at Luigi). There is also no set eye color; between artists, her eyes are usually variations of [[MarkOfTheSupernatural pink, red, purple]], or just pitch black.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Interestingly enough, Booette would go on to become the most popular of the [[FountainOfExpies off-shoots of Bowsette]], being the closest one to rival Bowsette in the number of fanart.
* GiantWoman: The female variants of King Boo occasionally enter this territory, since the King partakes in EvilIsBigger and is larger than both Luigi and the normal Boos.
* ManiacTongue: In reference to the Boos' OverlyLongTongue.
* MorphicResonance: Booette always has a pale white UndeathlyPallor and ManiacTongue. Peachyboo takes it a step further with a hairstyle meant to resemble a Boo's shape, possessing large, flat bangs to imitate their heavy brow, and side flips to imitate their little arms.
* MostCommonSuperpower: Usually {{Exaggerated}} for this character.
* NonIndicativeName: "Booette" has all the pitfalls of the standard "[Character]ette" naming convention, of course, but "Boosette" is even worse, since it's a portmanteau of "Boo" and the already-troublesome "Bowsette".
* ShrinkingViolet: She's frequently depicted freezing up whenever directly looked at, as is typical of Boos.
* StalkerWithACrush: Due to Luigi's [[VideoGame/LuigisMansion association with the Boos]], she is often depicted as stalking him in fanart [[ShrinkingViolet and then turning into a nervous mess]] when he notices. Some fanartists up the ante by making her take after Daisy instead of Peach in appearance, due to Luigi's association with the Sarasaland princess.
* UndeathlyPallor: Has ghostly-white hair and skin.
* {{Yandere}}: She gives off this vibe whenever chasing Luigi.

[[folder:Chain Chompette]]
->'''Original Form:''' Chain Chomp
Another popular Super Crown wearer due to the [[UsefulNotes/{{BDSM}} implications]] that come with humanizing this particular {{mook}}. [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/chain-chompette Has a page]] on Know Your Meme.
----
* ChainedByFashion: It's in the name.
* DependingOnTheArtist: Even more so than Bowsette or Booette. Chompette doesn't even have a default design, which admittedly makes sense when you take into account that the Chain Chomps have no KingMook.
* GirlsBehindBars: The earliest drawing of Chompette goes with this {{motif}}.
* ScaryTeeth: The Chain Chomp's jagged fangs are a must-have.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Piranhette / Peachy Piranha]]
->'''Original Form:''' Piranha Plant
If it can be playable in ''Smash Bros.'', then it can wear a Super Crown. [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/piranhette Has a page]] on Know Your Meme.
----
* BreakoutMookCharacter: This concept got a bump in popularity some time after a mere Piranha Plant was {{unexpected|Character}}ly PromotedToPlayable in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate''.
* DependingOnTheArtist: Much like Chompette, the fandom hasn't come up with a default look for a potential Peachy Piranha, so depictions of her tend to vary wildly.
* ScaryTeeth: The Piranha Plant's jagged fangs are a must-have.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Super Crownette]]
->'''Original Form:''' [[ShapedLikeItself Super Crown]]
[[DontAsk I'm sure you can figure out]] [[{{Recursion}} what happened here]] [[RuleOfFunny and why.]]
----
* CompositeCharacter: Given the colors associated with the Crown, some draw the result as [[VideoGame/MarioKart Pink Gold Peach]] with a fancy new hat.
* DependingOnTheArtist: Though the comedic value in a recursive Super Crown form drew many artists in, no standard design emerged.
* HumanoidAbomination: [[https://www.deviantart.com/fontesmakua/art/Peachrown-or-Crownette-765456206 FontesMakua's version.]] Gets worse/better if you [[https://www.deviantart.com/fontesmakua/art/Queen-Crownette-766124875 add a third Crown.]]
* ICanExplain: Scorci's version, when a Fire Flower catches a Bowser symbol on her panties.
* NoblewomansLaugh: [[WebVideo/VShojo Froot]]'s version and [[https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1414431-peachette-super-crown Matau's version.]]
* ObviousRulePatch: Scorci's version prevents any more Crowns from being added to her, instead giving her a 1,000-point bonus.
* SelfConstructedBeing: Sort of, since she's made from two Super Crowns.
* ShipperOnDeck: [[https://twitter.com/BSApricot/status/1045330697504915456 Froot's version]] seems to be "making you fall in love with Bowser" on purpose.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Ridleyette]]
->'''Original Form:''' [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Ridley]]
Expanding outside of the ''Mario'' canon, some takes on a Super Crown form for Ridley also made the rounds. [[https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1416633-peachette-super-crown Has a page]] on Know Your Meme.
----
* DependingOnTheArtist: Whether or not Ridleyette has wings, and her tail has some leeway if it's an ''actual'' tail or it forms out of her ponytail.
* DraconicHumanoid: DependingOnTheArtist, but Ridleyette is often depicted with her dragon wings, tail, scales, sharp teeth, and occasionally claws.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: {{Averted}}. Ridley might be turned into a lady and wearing purple dresses, but she's every bit as violent and sociopathic as before.
* LeanAndMean: Ridleyette is often depicted as dangerously thin to reflect Ridley's own body, and she's still as vicious as before.
* MorphicResonance: Ridleyette always retains Ridley's purple coloration on her dress, his bladed tail, sharp teeth, lean body, and yellow eyes, with optional parts including scales, wings, and horns.
* {{Yandere}}: Her interactions with [[ArchEnemy Samus]] get a lot more suggestive in this form. She's still very much trying to kill her, though.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Miscellaneous]]
%%Alphabetical.
[[AC:Goomba Tower]]
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Only the topmost Goomba is actually wearing a Crown, but all four Goombas are transformed. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] since they worked similarly in ''VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey'', where Cappy can possess a whole stack as if it were one entity.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The whole "Tower" concept [[https://www.deviantart.com/pshyzomancer/art/Goomba-Stacks-765641455 is a bit difficult]] with humans.
\

[[AC:Luma]]
* BigEater: [[http://thebourgyman.tumblr.com/post/178343036730/that-whole-other-mario-characters-try-that-weird "I'm so hungry FEED ME goddammit"]]
* FriendlyShopkeeper: Xenvita's [[https://twitter.com/xenvita_/status/1044099308025450496 Lumalina]] is a version that retains Lumalee's shopkeeper role and chipper demeanor.
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Takes after Rosalina instead of Peach.
\

[[AC:LetsPlay/ProtonJon]]
* NonStandardCharacterDesign: Like Luma above, some traits of her appearance are drawn from Rosalina.
\

[[AC:Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog (plus other ''Sonic'' characters)]]
* AlternateCompanyEquivalent: Or the fan equivelant, but the idea of the Bowsette meme would eventually spawn a sort of offshoot involving Eggman, known as [[https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/eggmaam Eggma'am]]. The general idea is the same, though for most interpretations it doesn't actually involve Super Crowns[[note]]and not to be confused with ''Eggette'', who is also a fan-created character popular with the community, but is a completely seperate concept with no relation to Bowsette or Eggma'am[[/note]].
* {{Crossover}}: One common joke is that Knuckles wearing the crown would result in [[Franchise/LoveLive Maki Nishikino]]. Given some life in [[https://www.deviantart.com/spideyhog/art/4Koma-Queen-Knuckles-765990730 this]] comic. To a lesser extent, Shadow donning it often results in transforming into [[Anime/KillLaKill Ryuko Matoi]]. Another quick comic has Mario prank Sonic by shoving both a Super Crown and [[VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld Super Bell]] into Sonic, transforming him into [[VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}} Felicia]].
* DependingOnTheArtist: Does she wear a dress or a leotard? Does she retain her SuperSpeed or not? Is she as freaked out as everyone else, or doesn't really care as depicted below?
* LeotardOfPower: [[https://www.deviantart.com/pedrocorreia/art/Super-Smash-Crown-Sonic-775545686 Pedrocorreia's version]] wears a leotard with a circle cut out of the middle to simulate Sonic's own belly spot. [[https://www.deviantart.com/prostinian/art/Sonicette-765516265 Prostinian's version]] does likewise.
* MetaGuy: The main joke with Sonicette is that, considering the fanbase's reputation, Sonic wearing the Super Crown and transforming in this manner was inevitable.
** Perhaps more infamously, a popular joke concerning the Crown was Sonic [[SeenItAll being completely unphased by the concept]] thanks to experiences with his own fanbase - how much this mocks the fanbase specifically varies from [[AffectionateParody depiction]] to [[TakeThat depiction]]. This is often portrayed as heavily contrasting how Mario and Bowser are... [[{{Squick}} less than enthused]] about the entire situation.
* {{Squick}}: It is a common headcanon that Eggman attempting to wear the Crown results in... less than attractive results. Exactly how squicky it ''actually'' is depends on how that result is drawn. Eggma'am, on the other hand, is always drawn as conventionally attractive.
\

[[AC:Toads (other than Toadette)]]
* DependingOnTheArtist:
** Whether the Crown gives a Toad wearer a dress like Peach and Peachette or a more proportional version of their typical clothes depends on the design.
** In jokes that play on the "-ette" naming scheme, a Toad may become a Peach clone that wears Toadette's clothes, or outright become a copy of her.
* OnlyTheChosenMayWield: In some stories, most Toads aside from Toadette and possibly ''the'' Toad (and occasionally Peach, as in her folder) are immune to the Crown's effects.
\

[[AC:VideoGame/{{Wario}}]]
* MundaneUtility: Much of Wario's comics deliberately never have him use the Crown for sexy reasons; he either uses it to abuse perks women might get or pawns it off to make a quick buck. For example, [[https://twitter.com/chiku012/status/1044184830282330117 this]] comic has him use it to get the ladies' discount at an all-you-can-eat joint.

The creation of Luke Westaway from [[WebVideo/OutsideXbox Outside Xtra]], egged on by his co-host Ellen Rose.
* AuthorAppeal: Noted dinosaur lover Luke gave her "''T. rex'' hands."
* BadassAdorable: Luke drew her to be very cute, but there are hints that she would know how to handle herself in a fight.
* EmbarrassingHobby: Not for Yoshette herself, but Luke has some 'splaining to do when his colleague Andy walks in.
-->'''Luke:''' [[OhCrap Oh, now Andy's here!]] ''(turns his clipboard over)'' We're doing normal things.\
'''Andy:''' What on ''Earth'' have you drawn?\
'''Luke:''' We're doing normal things! I'm a normal adult man!
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen: Has a scepter for "walloping" her subjects when they get stroppy, and a diamond shell that can ostensibly "meat-grind" her enemies. Including Mario, if he tries to ride on her back anymore.
* HighClassGloves: For her ''T. rex'' hands.
