* [[https://youtu.be/69_mWyat9tw In this YouTube parody]] of Literature/GreenEggsAndHam, Guy-Am-I says to Sam-I-Am, “Suck my dick, you Sam-I-Am. Suck my dick, you fucking sham.” Five years later, 2019, Netflix would adapt Westernanimation/GreenEggsAndHam into an animated series [[spoiler:And a major plot twist of Season 1 would be that Sam was a con man working for the main villain. Suck my dick, you fucking sham, indeed.]]
* While on parodies, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJlbPXZEpRE "The Star Wars That I Used to Know"]] came out in June 2012 parodying recent hit [[Music/{{Gotye}} "Somebody that I Used to Know"]] complaining about the ''Franchise/StarWars'' prequels and [[GeorgeLucasAlteredVersion all the changes in the re-releases]]. Four months later Disney bought Lucasfilm to continue the franchise... and most of the comments note how their output made for a whole new era of fan disillusionment.
* ''WebVideo/CLWEntertainment'': The CLW GagDub of ''Manga/NinjaHattori'' is about the ''Ninja Hattori'' characters trying to ride off of their memetic popularity and get the show released in America. The video became even funnier after the real ''Ninja Hattori'' show was released on Creator/{{Netflix}} America, complete with the Indian version that made it a meme in the first place.
* Somewhere in December, Creator/FPSRussia releases a video showing him wrecking havoc with an [=L85A2=] rifle. A couple days later, ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield 3}}: [[ExpansionPack Back to Karkand]]'' is released. Guess what is the name of the Assignment needed to unlock the [=L85A2=]?
* ''WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd'':
** In 2006, the Nerd made a video about confusing video game and movie sequel titles and mentioned how in the early 90's there were two ''Mega Man'' series, the [[VideoGame/MegaMan originals]] and the ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX X]]'' series. He then said, "Now if only they made a ''VideoGame/MegaMan9'', it would come full circle." Even better, Capcom has announced a ''Mega Man '''10'''''. And ''much'' better, said game probably gave a nod to this "coincidence", seeing as ''VideoGame/MegaMan10'' is practically a tribute [[spoiler:yet still doesn't connect]] to the ''X'' series, with [[TheVirus a virus outbreak]], Proto Man as a playable character ([[HilariousInHindsight LOADS of funny references]] to [[AscendedExtra Zero]] in that one alone) and its [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Megaman10.jpg box art]], in which Proto Man channels Zero yet again by wielding a LaserBlade and [[VideoGame/MegaManZero shield]] (not the solid one Proto's [[IconicItem usually associated with]]).
** There's also his rant about the movie ''Film/RockyBalboa'' breaking the ''Rocky'' series' numbering tradition, and compares it to the then-upcoming new Rambo film being titled "John Rambo." That did indeed become the movie's working title for a while (and actual release title in some countries), causing him to comment "I feel kind of bad, like I picked on a retarded kid."
** In the ''VideoGame/SilverSurfer1990'' review, the nerd mocked how [[OneHitPointWonder weak]] Silver Surfer was, comparing it to hypothetically showing Bruce Lee tripping over his shoelaces. A few years later (though it's not Bruce Lee), we have ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosBrawl'', in which several bounty hunters, futuristic agents, [[VideoGame/MetalGear Solid Snake]], and Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog trip over themselves once every few minutes (randomly), with absolutely no way to stop it or turn it off.
** In his review for ''VideoGame/LesterTheUnlikely'', he ponders on what the sequels would be like, and mentions that the most recent one would come out on the Platform/PlayStation4, which uses technology to construct discs out of orangutan diarrhea, giving Blu-Ray a run for its money. The [=PS4=] would eventually come out, but it actually ran on Blu-Ray.
** The Nerd's review for ''Ride/UniversalStudios Theme Park Adventure'' for the Platform/NintendoGameCube was made while Creator/{{Nintendo}} was negotiating with Creator/{{Universal}} regarding the latter's acquisition of the former's theme park license (which was eventually successful). Granted, said game wasn't actually made by Nintendo (it was published by Kemco), but still it makes for a very eerie coincidence.
** When reviewing ''VideoGame/TheAngryVideoGameNerdAdventures'', the Nerd recognises the Guitar Guy and the Bullshit Man, but not Mike Mattei. This is because both the Guitar Guy and the Bullshit Man have made appearances in earlier episodes, yet Mike only appeared on the show portraying various characters. It wasn't until Day 8 of the 12 Days of Shitsmas when Mike Mattei finally appeared on the show as himself.
** In the video about the ''[[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Zelda]]'' timeline (around the time of ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess Twilight Princess]]'''s release), he pokes fun at the fact that basically ''every'' Zelda after the first two is a prequel to the original and suggests that, "Maybe, eventually, we'll go back to Link and Zelda being the [[AdamAndEvePlot Adam and Eve of Hyrule.]]" Several years later, ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword Skyward Sword]]'' comes out...
** In his review of ''VideoGame/Action52'' for the NES, he converses the idiocy of using a lollipop as a weapon. When the Pyromania Update of ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' sprouts two years later, the Pyro received the Lollichop, a large lollipop used as a sharp weapon.
* ''WebVideo/BumReviews'': This line in Chester A. Bum review of ''WesternAnimation/{{Up}}'' turns out to be more hilarious when Pixar [[WesternAnimation/PixarShorts did a short]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LRaIbiCvBY closely like that]] five months and 23 days later after the review.
--->'''Chester:''' That what all people should do! We should send all the old people in the sky!
* ''WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}}'':
** "Cornshaq Baby Please" had Slowbeef uttering, "Mr. O'Neil, the answer to this multiplication problem is 12, but also Mario 2 is the greatest game ever." A year later, [[Music/KanyeWest a famous rapper]] said something in a similar fashion that caused a MemeticMutation.
** Watch [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt2uyDqbA-Q Slowbeef's Retsuparae]] of a savestate-laden LetsPlay of ''VideoGame/KaizoMarioWorld'' a few times. Then try to read ''[[http://www.bartleby.com/130/ On Liberty]]''.
* The ''Series/GamingInTheClintonYears'' series is already bizarre and surreal, but it does achieve one of these at the end of their ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII'' review. George Wood exclaims "If Square doesn't add voice-overs to ''Final Fantasy IX'', I'm committing suicide! I hate text!" ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX'' was released in the USA November 2000, when UsefulNotes/BillClinton's second term ended. No wonder there's no "Gaming in the Dubya Years".
* There was a story arch in ''WebVideo/ImAMarvelAndImADC'' about Tony Stark feeling jealous of Batman's new movie taking his spotlight. So, Batman trained Iron Man in being a detective. Guess [[Creator/RobertDowneyJr who]] is playing Franchise/SherlockHolmes [[Film/SherlockHolmes2009 in the 2009 movie]]?
* Due to the lead times involved, the fact that there were going to be goofy twin autobots in ''Film/TransformersRevengeOfTheFallen'' was known over six months before the movie was released. However, their look and a certain level of {{Fanon}} lead to the assumption they'd be bumbling hillbilly-type characters. So, WebVideo/InternetPersonalityVangelus put forth the idea in his review of Skids that the autobot was really a rap star (named MC Paddington) with a dark past. This, plus the voice he assigned him, eerily anticipated the [[EthnicScrappy actual Skids]].
* ''WebVideo/AskThatGuyWithTheGlasses'': In an early episode, Ask That Guy gives an answer that amounts to people just watching him because he's soft porn. Come December 2009 and you have... giving a blowjob to a pipe, testing eggnog-as-lube with sex noises offscreen, getting dominated by Bennett The Sage, making a long series of orgasm faces and him saying he's willing to go down on anyone and anything.
* Mike Polk's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZzgAjjuqZM "Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video"]] features a line that says "Our economy's based on [=LeBron=] James", the star player of the Cleveland Cavaliers. [=LeBron=] ended up leaving to play for another team from 2010-2014, though he did eventually come back.
* In an episode of ''WebVideo/ThereWillBeBrawl'', Luigi sees [[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 Ness]] and [[VideoGame/Mother3 Lucas]] playing, and is inspired by their childish innocence to keep working to save the Mushroom Kingdom. Some fans suggested they'd be the "token innocent children who get held ransom by the bad guys". [[spoiler: Eventually the final episode rolls around, and it turns out ''they're the Butcher(s)''.]] Like the example at the top of the page, the contrast makes it ''hilarious'' to watch again.
* ''WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick'':
** Early on, the Chick mocked the idea of BelligerentSexualTension with "[[WesternAnimation/{{Anastasia}} Ah, animosity. It must be love!]]". Have a guess what her most [[ShipTease teased]] (het) pairing [[BelligerentSexualTension consists of]] and [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic who it's with]]?
** Her desperation to see robots in ''Film/{{Xanadu|1980}}'' takes on a different, even more amusing meaning when she was made a SexSlave robot who has to cater to her every whim.
** A video she made in high school about [=STDs=] contains a giant stuffed bear with AIDS having an affair with a 14 year old girl. Pedobear.
** In her video about the history of female comic book movies, she compared the problems with the ''Comicbook/TankGirl'' [[Film/TankGirl movie]] to ComicBook/{{Deadpool}}, which she used as another example of a comic book with BlackComedy and [[SelfReferentialHumor Meta Humor]] that'd be difficult to adapt as a live-action movie. She also mockingly clarified that she was talking about the "actual" Deadpool and not the Creator/RyanReynolds [[Film/XMenOriginsWolverine version]]. Years later, Reynolds starred in a highly successful ''Film/{{Deadpool|2016}}'' movie that retained all the meta humor and black comedy from the source material.
* Creator/ImprovEverywhere once had fun [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKx0aek1T0w splitting pedestrian traffic into a fast lane and slow lane]] on a street in Manhattan. As it turns out, some in London [[http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/news/2010/12/101201_oxford_st_wup_sl.shtml have taken that idea seriously]].
* A Platform/YouTube video in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDX1m0Y2Vkg 2010]] featured ''Anime/PokemonTheSeries'' being DarkerAndEdgier in which Giovanni plays a more active role and Jessie, James, and Meowth become actively evil and wear black uniforms. In ''Pokémon Best Wishes'', they really DO!
* ''WebVideo/MarbleHornets'':
** Before the second "season" started up (or was even hinted at), somebody made [[http://i40.tinypic.com/o5utz4.png this poster]] as a joke. [[spoiler:The tagline was ''completely accurate''... with the caveat that he wasn't interested in revenge on the villain...]]
** On the DVD features for Season 2, you can watch a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJDJO2hc24A trailer]] for [[InUniverse the original, unfinished student film Marble Hornets.]] In addition to being [[NarmCharm delightfully narmy,]] a certain character says that he sometimes feels as though he's wearing a mask around other people. Uh, right. [[MalevolentMaskedMan Well,]] [[BrainwashedAndCrazy good luck]] [[AxCrazy with that.]] However, this falls right on the line between HilariousInHindsight and just plain [[HarsherInHindsight harsher.]]
* In the epic ''Film/DragonballEvolution'' review on Website/ChannelAwesome, Y Ruler of Time and Rollo T try and guess which movie Hope Within Chaos was referring to as "so horrible that even the WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic won't review it". Their guesses? ''Film/Ultraviolet2006'' (later reviewed by [[WebVideo/BadMovieBeatdown Film Brain]]) and ''Film/DungeonsAndDragons2000'' (later actually reviewed by the Critic).
* In honor of WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic doing Nickolodeon Month in January 2009, CR of WebVideo/FamiliarFaces fame drew [[http://chadrocco.deviantart.com/art/Doug-108711586 an image of Doug Walker in the art style of Doug Funnie]] doing his "drink from a skull and fire wildly" routine, which would eventually become one of the most recognizable images on the Familiar Faces poster. One day later, the Nicktoons review proved that the Nostalgia Critic ''does'' [[BerserkButton fire his gun wildly]] [[NeverHeardThatOneBefore when compared to]] ''WesternAnimation/{{Doug}}''.
* Website/ScrewAttack
** Twice, they decided to make videos predicting the top news of the upcoming year. [[http://www.gametrailers.com/player/61093.html In the 2010 one]], one of the items that VideoGame/DukeNukemForever would get a release date, Nintendo would try out 3D again, there would be a new Kid Icarus game anounced (Albeit, for the Wii, not the DS), and the 360 would be slimmed down. Scary isn't it?
** They predicted Milo would become Skynet, [[http://kotaku.com/5645343/rumor-project-milo-canceled and in a weird coincidence...]]
** [[http://www.gametrailers.com/player/709342.html For 2011]], they speculated on a new Nintendo console aiming on hardcore games. [[Platform/WiiU And whadya know]].
* ''WebVideo/ThirdRateGamer'':
** WebVideo/TheIrateGamer did an episode about Kool-Aid Man video games. The parody Third Rate Gamer followed up with a "review" of ''VideoGame/CoolSpot'', mocking the episode. Months later, IG reviewed ''Cool Spot''.
--->'''Third Rate Gamer:''' First the [[WebVideo/TheAngryVideoGameNerd AVGN]] ripped off my ''[[{{Franchise/Castlevania}} Castlemania]]'' review, and now the Irate Gamer ripped off my ''Cool Spot'' review! What's next?
** In his ''[[VideoGame/LittleNemoTheDreamMaster Little Nemo...]]'' sorry, ''FINDING Nemo'' review, he swaps King Morpheus with a similarly-named [[Film/TheMatrix Morpheus]]. WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic makes a similar joke in his review of ''Little Nemo''.
** He jokes about Creator/{{Capcom}} creating shitty games in his ''VideoGame/StreetFighterII'' review, which may seem prophetic, considering the company's bad reputation in the 2010s.
** One of the Third Rate Gamer's {{Running Gag}}s is setting the game on the easiest difficulty before playing. In the Irate Gamer's ''VideoGame/DuckTales'' LetsPlay, he plays the game on the easiest difficulty.
* {{Lets Play}}er WebVideo/JesseCox plays ''VisualNovel/HatofulBoyfriend'' as part of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QgNERGRN40 his Fan Friday segment]]. He opts to name his character "Flox" instead of "Cox" due to the game's characters being birds. Only later does Jesse realize:
## His character is, in fact, human.
## His character is, in fact, female.
* There is a response to ''Film/TheLastAirbender'' called ''The Last Fartbender''. Two years later, ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' has child airbender Meelo actually bending his farts to fight [[spoiler: Amon's forces invading Air Temple Island]].
* ''Creator/RoosterTeeth'':
** In the Rage Quit episode featuring ''VideoGame/SurgeonSimulator2013'', one of the movie's funniest moments was when Gavin accidentally flings the replacement heart out of the room, leading to Michael to scream out that he "threw it against the wall like a wet paper towel!" Come the Steam version, that's what you have to do to get the achievement (which is called "Like A Wet Paper Towel")!
** Another one was when the Achievement Hunter guys were doing a LetsPlay of ''Madden 13'' with that year's Super Bowl participants, the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. Geoff declares that whoever wins the game shall win the Super Bowl. Talk about coincidence...
** This lead to their LetsPlay of ''Madden NFL 25'', in which Jack, as part of Team Gents and the Denver Broncos, tossed a whopping ''seven interceptions'' (one of which Michael returned for a touchdown)[[note]]there was an eighth, but a Roughing the Passer penalty negated that one[[/note]], leading to the Broncos to lose. One has to think that Jack kinda-sorta jinxed them that year. Despite all the picks (Ryan, who took over at quarterback after the seventh pick, threw three more himself), the Achievement Hunter game was close. [[CurbStompBattle The real-life Super Bowl 48, not so much.]]
* On the {{Reality|Show}} TalentShow ''WebVideo/StripSearch'', the elimination format involves two artists from the show making comics in ninety minutes. When Elimination #3 saw the judges, [[Webcomic/PennyArcade Mike and Jerry]], [[SadisticChoice struggling to decide which to eliminate]] after both artists created excellent strips, Mike turned to one of the artist's stand-ups and said, "Fuck, [[TakeAThirdOption I'll send]] ''[[TakeAThirdOption this]]'' [[TakeAThirdOption person home]]. This is a piece of ''shit!'' Fucking ... bring her down here. Wake her up and drive her down here, and tell her she's going home." The creator of said inferior standup was [[spoiler:Abby Howard]] -- who would later ''completely demolish'' two of the best comic artists in the house ([[spoiler:including the winner of #3]]) with her hilarious comics on the elimination stage.
* At the start of the first LetsPlay/MarioPartyTV playthrough [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PZr_rCMrbM Toy Dream]], Holms comments that "In the next game, they should have a 0 dice block." One year later, ''9'' delivered just that.
* There was once a video board game called "Rap Rat", involving a talking rat, some painfully nineties hip hop, and the strange inclusion of the line, "He ain't no ghost, he's the most!" In a commercial for the game. Since Rap Rat has since become the subject of a creepypasta focused on demonic posession, the line now boarders on SuspiciouslySpecificDenial.
* ''WebVideo/TheMysteriousMrEnter'':
** In his [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Seahorse Seashell Party]] review, when Brian gets attacked by bees during the MushroomSamba, Mr. Enter states that he he will not be playing [[Film/TheWickerMan2006 that Nicholas Cage clip]] over it, due to seeing it as a DiscreditedMeme. Fast forward a few months to WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic's ''Wicker Man'' review, and Tamara and Malcolm, in a parallel to the film, play a cult that forces reviewers to reference the scene if they review the movie, whether or not they still find a credible meme. For bonus points, the episode actually uses several Nostalgia Critic clips.
** And in another review, he says something along the lines of, "[The makers/writers of WesternAnimation/{{SpongeBob|SquarePants}}] could have a talking cat underwater for all I care." And they later made an episode with just that premise.
* WebVideo/MatthewSantoro:
** In ''Casino Heist & H.I.V. CURED!'', Matt makes a prediction that Miley Cyrus would spread [=STIs=], because she had just turned 18 [[note]] The video was posted in 2010 [[/note]] and so would soon start having sex. Now that Miley Cyrus is known for being risqué, Matt's prediction hits close to home.
** In ''So Many Presents...So Little Time!'', Matt shows the audience a Franchise/{{Batman}} money clip he ordered, and tells the audience not to mistake it for a Franchise/{{Batman}} ninja star. This became hilarious when his viewers started sending him ninja stars in the mail as a joke.
** In TheStinger of ''Drake NYC Riot!'', one of the [=YouTube=] comments Matt shows from his previous video tells him that he needs to grow a beard. 2 years later, Matt posted ''Why Beards are Awesome'', where Matt says why his beard is important.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhJlmc8bgT8 This parody of Nintendo Direct]] features a fictional game called "Wii Fuck U" which is described as ''VideoGame/{{Skylanders}}'' but even worse, and requires OffModel toys of Nintendo characters to play, costing $59.99 each. Later on, Nintendo announced Toys/{{amiibo}}, an actual line of toys that could interact with games, and with the low supply and high demand at the time of their release, some of the rarer models reached extremely high prices on the second-hand market, even surpassing the $60 mark in some cases.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/user/SecondPlaceEagle/videos This Youtuber]] added lyrics to certain ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' music, including the ending themes ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNIKKzx74bw "Champion of Johto"]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gmk19QxrAQ "New Beginnings"]], for example), way before ''VideoGame/PokemonXAndY'' did it with the ending theme, "KISEKI". Granted, "KISEKI" isn't sung in the actual game itself, but the lyrics are placed on-screen for the player to sing along to, in multiple languages, and the lyrics of 'Champion of Johto' and 'New Beginnings' mainly consists of 'Yay, you won' lyrics.
* ''WebVideo/DrHorriblesSingAlongBlog'': "The hammer is my penis." It just didn't turn out so well [[http://spamusement.com/index.php/comics/view/90 the first time.]]
* The way {{LetsPlay/Chuggaaconroy}} timed three of his Let's Plays was very hilarious in hindsight: he starts playing ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1'', Shulk gets added to ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'', ''VideoGame/XenobladeChroniclesX'' is announced, along with the New [=3DS=] port of the original ''Xenoblade'' game. He starts playing ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga'' and ''almost immediately afterwards'' ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiPaperJam'' is announced. He starts playing ''VideoGame/Pikmin3'' and ''Pikmin 4'' is announced afterwards. Fans ''definitely'' did not leave these unnoticed, especially after the third time in a row it happened. [[HistoryRepeats Then Xenoblade into Smash happened again, this time involving Pyra and Mythra of then-current LP of]] ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2''. As Emile put it when he heard the news, "I'm three for two!"
* ''WebVideo/HistoryOfPowerRangers'' has a few of these:
** In the ''Series/PowerRangersInSpace'' review, Linkara joked about the "anti-virus technique of hitting the monster with a sword". In a recent ad for a computer, which used video clips to explain its features, the anti-virus was demonstrated by... the original Megazord whacking Goldar over the head with a sword.
** He says a couple of the Rangers suits from ''Jungle Fury'' look too much like track suits, apparently unaware that they actually were designed by a sports company in [[Series/JukenSentaiGekiranger the original sentai]].
** Lewis has started uploading a series of [=YouTube=]-friendly, {{Remaster}}ed, and updated versions on the videos, starting with the original ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers''. The day posted the first of the these, Creator/ElizabethBanks was announced to play Rita in the upcoming reboot movie. Likewise, production on the movie starts as he released the Remastered videos for season 3.
* In his Top 5 Pokémon Generations video, Fawful's Minion criticized the amount of water routes in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire. Many fans consider this one of he funniest moments. Cut 2 years later, and IGN's review of the remakes causes controversy for complaining about "too much water", leading people to make jokes about it.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnGtPCAHsak This video by Sketch from Superheroes]] has Luke Cage comparing Iron Fist's origin story to ''Series/GameOfThrones''. Later, the [[Series/IronFist2017 Netflix series]] was announced to star Creator/FinnJones, who starred in ''Game of Thrones''.
* ''WebVideo/TheHappyVideoGameNerd'':
** His ''VideoGame/{{Splatterhouse}}'' retrospective ends with him begging for a remake. Guess what came out in 2010? Not just that, in the first game retrospective, he starts asking a few questions about how and what happened in the story, in the 2010 game, most of the questions are actually answered.
** In his review of ''VideoGame/WildGuns'', he says "What's better than cowboys and Indians? Cowboys and ''robots'', that's what!". [[Film/CowboysAndAliens Not too far off from that]]...
** At the end of his review of the ''Franchise/{{Castlevania}}'' Platform/GameBoy Trilogy he expressed doubts about the direction Creator/{{Konami}} was taking the franchise in and proposed that "maybe we don't need Konami", suggesting that perhaps someone could take the series to crowd funding in the same way ''VideoGame/MightyNo9'' took the Franchise/MegaMan series out of Creator/{{Capcom}}'s negligent hands, as well as taking the opportunity to replace the series' honestly rather goofy name with something new. [[VideoGame/BloodstainedRitualOfTheNight It was almost SCARILY prophetic...]]
* ''WebVideo/{{Jimquisition}}'': Jim Sterling [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcvRx0Sx1Hc once critiqued]] a game called ''VideoGame/ChipperAndSonsLumberCo'' for having characters that looked like nightmarish animatronics, rather than the cute and fluffy critters they were supposed to be. [[Creator/ScottCawthon The developer]] of that game took that critique and [[VideoGame/FiveNightsAtFreddys ran with it]] [[SleeperHit all the way to the bank]].
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcTuvu_FYWI This video]] ([[InvokedTrope titled]] ''[[CowboyBebopAtHisComputer Inaccurate Video Game Facts]]'') claimed that Square Enix never wanted to re-release ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'' because it wasn't that good, and ''VideoGame/{{Shenmue}}'' 3 had been released in the form of ''VideoGame/SleepingDogs2012''. Guess what happened at E3 2015...
* On the recorded episodes of ''WebVideo/WhatTheFuckIsWrongWithYou'', there beings known as the Trousers Cosmic, which are (in Nash's words) "evil alien pants". [[Anime/KillLaKill Now why does that sound so familiar]]?
* In 2011, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djRAiiFlCy8 a satrical movie trailer]] was released, depicting a DarkerAndEdgier ''ComicBook/{{Archie|Comics}}'' adaptation called ''Riverdale''. Six years later saw the premiere of a TV series, which turns out to be an actual DarkerAndEdgier ''Archie'' adaptation called... ''Series/{{Riverdale}}''.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNqKBQT-9EI This]] mockumentary about the Platform/WiiU claims that some of Nintendo's rejected ideas for the Platform/{{Wii}}'s successor included another Wii, or "an empty box full of your imagination." In the years afterwards, Nintendo would release a cheaper, stripped-down Wii Mini, as well as VideoGame/NintendoLabo, a line of cardboard peripherals that the players must construct themselves.
* In 2013, a [[RealTrailerFakeMovie parody trailer]] was published on [=YouTube=] for a movie called [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaxGjGFwE8M ''The Chronicles of Rick Roll'']], a movie entirely based around the Internet, but mostly involving [[MemeticMutation Internet memes]]. On September 20, 2018, five years after that video was published, a new trailer for ''WesternAnimation/RalphBreaksTheInternet'', a movie about the Internet, is released, which uses the Music/RickAstley song "Never Gonna Give You Up", the song that gave the basis for the title of ''The Chronicles of Rick Roll'', as background music. On a minor note, both the fake trailer and ''Ralph Breaks the Internet'' have scenes parodying pop-up ads that personify said ads as annoying people.
* In June of 2017, Youtuber Tana Mongeau -- yes, [[WebVideo/IDubbbzTV that Tana]]-- posted [[https://youtu.be/gt6wmxKl3PQ a video]] talking about an recent clubbing experience wherein she had been trying to hit on Scott Disick only for Bella Thorne to aggressively cut in and dance with Scott herself while sending Tana territorial glares. Nowadays, Tana and Bella are [[AmbiguouslyBi very]] [[PseudoRomanticFriendship close friends,]] leading many fans to half-jokingly theorize that while Tana was coming on to Scott, Bella was (or now is) coming on to her! [[note]] this may be even funnier knowing that Bella came out as bisexual in 2018 [[/note]]
* YMMV on whether it's this or HarsherInHindsight, but a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBCxG_SCnQE video was published on late May 2019]] by the anti-capitalist Means TV channel, about a town whose coal miners were paid in company scrip, basically currency created by the company itself. At the end, one of the narrators says, "Don’t be surprised if Mark Zuckerberg starts trying to pay his employees in Facebook bucks.” Just days later, [[https://www.cnbc.com/2019/06/05/facebook-cryptocurrency-coming-in-june-report.html Facebook announced it would create a cryptocurrency]], and employees who worked on making the cryptocurrency would be able to get paid in the currency itself.
* WebVideo/UrinatingTree made [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgfyC965kDM a video on the San Jose Sharks']] [[EveryYearTheyFizzleOut continued failures in the Stanley Cup Playoffs]] in May of 2018 after the Sharks were eliminated in that years' playoffs. In the video, Tree notes that the Sharks' two victories in the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals gave them [[DamnedByFaintPraise "more playoff success than the [St. Louis] Blues and [Washington] Capitals combined."]][[note]]At the time of the upload, both teams had made the Stanley Cup Finals, but had not won a game in them.[[/note]] The next two Stanley Cup Champions after the video was uploaded were... the Capitals and the Blues (the latter of whom had to go through the Sharks en route, and after San Jose's epic comeback to eliminate Washington's Finals opponent Vegas).
* In Creator/AnnaAkana's "When you say something stupid", when Anna tries to imagine the dumbest thing Creator/ScarlettJohansson said, she cuts to herself as [=ScarJo=], announcing that [[TakeThat she'll star in the then-upcoming]] ''Film/GhostInTheShell2017'' LiveActionAdaptation. At the time, Anna picked this only because Johansson's casting generated controversy among people who (like Anna) [[QuestionableCasting wished the studio cast an Asian actress instead]]. After the movie became a BoxOfficeBomb, this choice could also seem like Anna mocking [=ScarJo=] for attaching her name to a dud.
* ''WebVideo/CGPGrey'':
** In "American Empire", there is a frame viewing the EU with the U.K. saying I'm outie! Two years later, Brexit happened.
** In "Copyright: Forever Less One Day", Grey mentions a hypothetical ''Star Wars: Anime Edition''. Ten years later, ''Anime/StarWarsVisions'' would be released.
* There was a video that was made by Platform/NiconicoDouga based on the game. ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeonExplorers of Time/Darkness''. At the end of said video features Shaymin, a Pokémon that couldn't be found in the game. Shaymin would later appear in ''Explorers of Sky'', the UpdatedRerelease.
* The [[Series/BarneyAndFriends Barney the Dinosaur]] scene in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okumbPByXZw this]] mock ''Film/{{Watchmen}}: [[{{Bowdlerise}} PG Version]]'' trailer can easily become this if you read the DarkFic ''[[http://de.jihad.net/lib/bull-dotb.txt Day of the Barney]]'' (Or a plain old Funny Aneurysm if the fic gave you Nightmare Fuel.).
* In the wake of the August 2011 liberation of Tripoli, Libya comes [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fZhEJwWD4s this story of one rebel's trophy]] from the conflict... ''[[VideoGame/TeamFortress2 a hat.]]''.
* Afir Zahir, better known by his [=YouTube=] name Azerrz, gained popularity for his spot-on impressions of various characters and celebrities, such as [[Film/{{Ted}} Ted the Bear]], UsefulNotes/BarackObama, and especially [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Cleveland Brown]]. In June 2020, it was announced that Mike Henry, who is white, will be stepping down from voicing Cleveland, who is black, saying "Persons of Color should play Characters of Color". In September that year, Afir Zahir was revealed to be Mike Henry's replacement.
* ''WebVideo/ScreenRantPitchMeetings'': The ''Film/IronMan3'' pitch meeting justifies some of its poor decisions, such as barely showing Tony in his Iron Man armor in favor of him running around with PTSD and having the Mandarin [[spoiler:turn out to be a fake]], as "subverting expectations," a principle that the Screenwriter believes takes precedence over what's good for the story. This pitch meeting came out on September 8, 2018, several months before the creators of ''Series/GameOfThrones'' used the phrase to justify controversial story developments in the final season.
* ''WebVideo/JesuOtaku'':
** In his ''Eiken'' review, Sage points out that JO would probably not have that much of a problem with it if the show were about a [[CastFullOfPrettyBoys a cast full of muscular pretty boys]] in revealing outfits and with big...endowments, to which JO awkwardly tries to change the subject. Skip ahead a couple of years, and JO sees ''Anime/{{Free}}''...which is pretty much ''exactly what Sage described''. And JO ''really did'' like it![[note]]Although that's more to do with the fact that the show's writers are at least ''trying'' to give it a plot and three-dimensional characters along with the manservice than the manservice itself[[/note]]
** At the end of the review of ''Anime/MasterOfMartialHearts'', to explain the severity of the show's SuddenDownerEnding while avoiding actually spoiling it, he compares it to the ending of ''VisualNovel/SchoolDays'', feeling that there's next to zero chance of that ever getting officially released in America so it's okay to compromise and spoil that series' end instead. Nearly three years after the review was posted, [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-02-26/discotek-licenses-school-days-magical-heart-kokoro-chan Discotek revealed that they had acquired the rights to the School Days anime and would be giving it an American release the following summer]].
** Speaking of the ''[=MoMH=]'' review, WebVideo/BennettTheSage, as the review was back before Bennett retconned his then-current persona to be a demon impersonating Sage, was the one who tormented JO into doing the review. Years and the retirement of the Devil Sage persona later, Bennett himself would review it for ''Anime Abandon''.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSFbuJHlWZQ This video]] has the line ‘A few drinks and it’s back to my place’. This became this trope when it was discovered the British government had parties during lockdown.
* On October 9, 2020, Sarah "Sarah Squirm" Sherman posted a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVvh3V_GUg4 video]] jokingly auditioning for ''Series/SaturdayNightLive,'' doing purposefully terrible impressions before having a nauseous breakdown halfway through. If her name sounds familiar, it's because she was actually cast in ''SNL'' the following season, in the fall of 2021.
* Claire Luvcat of ''WebVideo/CreamHeroes'' saves a mother cat and her two kittens from euthanasia by offering to care for them until the kittens are old enough to be rehomed. One video has her attempt to give them their first meal. She remarks "One day you will cling to me and beg for this food." Not only did she end up keeping them but the younger kitten, Dodo, rivals [[BigEater Lulu and Lala]] when it comes to meals.
* In [[https://www.youtube.com/c/ChrPearson PopCross Studios']] video based around turning ''VideoGame/{{Cuphead}}'' bosses into [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_wdv7FSsjU Folklore Creatures]], Baroness Von Bon Bon (here a monsterous witch) is noted to lure children via fake friendliness in order to get them to take a bite of her castle so she can eat them. In ''WesternAnimation/TheCupheadShow'', that is exactly what she attempts to do to the Cupbros, right down to eating her castle being one of the ways she turns people into candy so she can eat them.
* When ''WebVideo/GameGrumps'' are playing ''VideoGame/PokemonFireRed'', they remark on how silly some of the trainer battles are, on how some random guy doing his job will spot a kid, run after them, yell something random about his job, and then battle them. Arin muses on what this would be like in real life, and describes a scenario where you try to order a coffee in a Starbucks, the waitress asks if you'd like milk, and then (((FightWoosh))) "WAITRESS SANDRA WOULD LIKE TO BATTLE!" One generation later, [[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Waitress_(Trainer_class) this actually became a thing]]: Arin even described "Sandra" as carrying a tray of pokeballs, and one of the Waitress trainers in ''VideoGame/PokemonDiamond'' actually ''does'' ask if you'd like some [=MooMoo Milk=] as her dialogue.
* ''WebVideo/TheBuggerAnthology'':
** One of the Daleks that tries to exterminate the Eleventh Doctor in "The Time of the Daleks" is named after Creator/JodieWhittaker. A year after the video was published, Whittaker was announced to be playing the ''Thirteenth'' Doctor.
** The Dalek Supreme gets annoyed about the Doctor cheating death by receiving a new set of regenerations because "the rules of regeneration are canon". In light of [[Recap/DoctorWhoS38E10TheTimelessChildren "The Timeless Children"]] revealing [[spoiler:the Doctor has had ''countless'' regenerations prior to their first shown set that they don't remember]], the rules of regeneration have only been bent further for the Doctor since then.
* "WebVideo/TheLastDaysOfDrWily":
** One of Greg's failed robot ideas is Diamond Man, "the robot who shoots diamond missiles that explode into four diamonds." ''VideoGame/MegaMan9'' has Jewel Man, who was tentatively called Diamond Man, and his Jewel Satellite is a shield weapon that creates four rotating jewels around the user.
** Inverted in that Greg sarcastically suggests making "Garbage Man" if Wily doesn't want to pay for quality Robot Master designs. ''VideoGame/MegaMan7'' already had Junk Man, who is literally made from scrapped robot parts.
* WebVideo/RyanGeorge: In "This Video Will Age Terribly" (released in December 2020), Ryan sarcastically predicts that Donald Trump will quit tweeting. One month after its release, Trump was permanently banned from Twitter.
* In one early WebVideo/ProZD Vine, he plays someone who can't cook, [[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/TIoD7Uj7MUo and tries adding coins to a hotdog]]. Creator/SungwonCho would later voice Senshi in the English dub of Manga/DungeonMeshi, who, in one episode, cooks insects that look like treasure, including coins.
