* Ruth's pledge to Naomi: "Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." Also, Orpah's reluctance to leave Naomi, and general commitment.
* When the penniless foreigner Ruth asks the wealthy, renowned Boaz to marry her, ''Boaz'' is the one who feels honored because, as he tells her, someone as beautiful as Ruth could have chosen a younger man or any man she wanted.
* Boaz has to break it to Ruth that there's a closer male to her dead husband's family, meaning she would have to marry the other man to fulfill the Levirate marriage. But in the meantime, that night he allows her to stay with him and "bundle up" (i.e., sleep together for warmth).
** And the next day, Boaz figures out an argument to get that other man to pass on the Levirate obligation - pointing out that any child with Ruth would split the inheritances with that man's other sons - leading him to decline and clearing the path for Boaz to marry Ruth after all.
* The ending. Naomi, who had hit absolute rock bottom, wanted to change her name (a massive deal in the Bible) to Mara or 'Bitterness', and probably believed she would never have grandchildren, gets to hold her grandson.
-->The women said to Naomi: "Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth."\
